Default Bob Arum said that Cotto never going fight in Las Vega

I hearded that Arum dont want Cotto to fight in Las Vega ,all the issue is about the ounces of Gloves, Cotto usually use a 10 ounce and if he fight in other place that isnt in Atlantic City N.J , he have to use other size Gloves. What do you think about this issues guys?

Correction, Cotto is an 8 OZ glove user.
Vegas has the 10 OZ rule.

Cotto does not need to fight in vegas. I don't blame him.

To say he'll never fight there due to the gloves is weak, but i can understand it not being his preference since you always want to do whatever gives you the best chance to win, but if the other guy can wear them you should be able to also. Mid-as-well basically say i'm not fighting floyd in vegas

Vegas does have the right to allow 8 oz gloves for fights at their discretion. You better believe that if there was a big money fight out there (Cotto-FLoyd, Cotto-Oscar), they'd waive that rule in a heartbeat to get the revenue from a big fight like that.

But this will be an interesting negotiating point if there are ever serious talks between Floyd and Cotto. Obviously Floyd would want to use 10 oz gloves.

I thought another reason for the non Vegas thing was the large Puerto Rican base on the east coast. I think also Cotto's fights haven't done decent PPV #'s on the West Coast

I'd understand if Miguel didn't want to fight with 10oz gloves having become accustomed to the 8 oz variety.
One may think that there is little difference, but the better you become the more the difference becomes.

If FLoyd wants to fight him in vegas with 22 oz gloves (I KNOW) then they will fight there with those gloves so Arum should shut up.

Kind of a random question aimed at anyone, but if both fighters agree to it, can they sanction bouts where one fighter uses a different size glove than the other... I.e, if Floyd agreed to let Cotto wear 8oz, could he still choose to wear 10's himself?? Im thinking no, just cause I've never heard of it happening.

If he can sell out Madison Square Garden, who needs Vegas?

I can see Floyd saying he'll only fight him in Vegas for that reason. Floyd wants to bigger gloves to protect his fragile hands & forcing Cotto to wear a little bigger glove could lesson the power of Cotto's shots - if only by a little bit.

well it is Cotto putting his ass on the line and not anyone else, so if he has the power to fight in other venues of choice......fair play to him.

This is probably just to bring the issue to the table so that the commission can address the problem. Also for bargaining power.

Baby face I couldn't have said it better.I shouldn't and doesn't really matter what size glove your wear.Punches are still punches.I'll to ya something else. When I spar with 20 oz I had to spar with a guy and I had stunned him a couple of times. When the time came again this time for real I had 12 oz amatuer gloves on and I really didn't see no difference.I mean I stunned him as if we were sparring and if anything I felt more pain in my hands then probably he felt on his head.So imagine what the difference from 10 oz to 8 oz is.Not much at all.I mean I am not comparing myself to Cotto but come one for a lame excuse like that not too fight in Vegas.I believe the real issue is would he attract enough in Vegas rather than New York. The answer is no.

I dont think someone who cant tell the difference in sparring with 20 oz to 12 oz gloves wouldnt have much of a valid opinion on it.
