Minto vs Holmes...anyone see this fight?
Looks like it was changed to a no contest after being ruled a tech decision for Minto.Officials found that his cut sustained during the 4th round was caused by a punch rather than a headbutt?
Good to see the review and effort at getting it right but...shouldn't this be a TKO for Holmes???

don't see how the hell it'd be the correct call, it'd only be a No Contest if the cut had come by a headbutt before the 4th and it ended before the 4th, if the cut was caused by a punch, doesn't matter what round, it's a TKO, look at the bullshit they tried to push in the Campbell/Bradley fight before it was overruled

but its not right. A cut caused by a punch is a TKO, if its a headbutt before 4 completed rounds its a no contest, after 4 rounds it goes to the scorecards.

Thats where I'm at on it.Very similiar situations and surely Campbell/Bradley aftermath comes into play as far as the review but no where near the publicity.
I have little interest in watching two lower level spongy heavys having a go but would love to see this one,how it was unfolding and the cut itself. But seems twisted.....Holmes recieved satisfaction in taking the "L" off his record but almost a slap in that they found it to be a punch that caused the cut,Minto cannot see and told Doctor, fight stopped,no matter if it happened that night or days later.....thats a tech knockout, game over. The inside of 4 rounds becomes mute.Half hearted effort in 'getting it right'?Who reviews the reviewers lol.

Maybe the argument is that Minto would have continued on had he known it was a cut. Which of course just makes it his own fault.

Oh man it gets better.Just read that the NC ruling as a result of the review was only a "recommendation" and the Tech win stands :cwm13:.....at least for 2 weeks.Smells like a little CYA if you ask me.Has to be record time there when it comes to reviewing the reviews of an initial ruling. My head hurts now ;D

Yeah I heard about this, sounds like the right decision. I do know that both camps are up in arms about the whole affair though.

it's pretty ridiculous, just another clean cut reason as to why boxing needs instant replay badly

You mean a punch?Shame a guy cannot rest assured at an officials initial ruling and this speaks even more to why replay is a must at the moment and not in hindsight sitting around a table.Would take all of what,30 seconds? This ones odd.I agree though that if a fighter works the rules,no evidence that he did, they have to shoulder the fortune or mis fortune.
