Horrible news for US Soccer
Charlie Davies was serverly injured in a car wreck and it seems likely he will miss the World Cup and his entire career may be over. I hope he recovers fully but right now he's in critical condition.
U.S. striker Davies in serious condition after accident - USA News - FOX Sports on MSN
I'm certain nobody is thinking about the World Cup right now but Davies was the motor of our squad in South Africa and had recently provided a big boost to our attack. I hope he recovers soon.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
We may have a world cup without Ronaldo & Messi and now Charlie Davies :(
Seriously though - sad news - hope he recovers

Hahahahahahahahaha!!
Sorry bad taste but funny as fuck!!
Hope he recovers all the bes to him.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
poor sod, never heard of him to be honest
US always take a pretty decent side to the world cup and you should be able to at least make the last 16 (along with our lot) ;D;D;D
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
sucks, hope he's able to return at some point
I know you're not supposed to think about things like this, everything in perspective, etc., but its a pretty big blow to our chances to qualify I think. He can score goals and seems to be one of those guys that doesn't shrink away from the big moment.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
We have already qualified for the WC.
The US have as good of a chance as any UK team does of winning the World Cup........well now we do :fyou:

Only one UK team there and we would destroy the American team.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
no, I know, wasn't worried about qualifying, should have said it hurts our chances of getting out of group play.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
Skel, in a head to head matchup fine, I'll let you have your way...but in the WORLD CUP you've got no better chance than we do...and that's what I posted.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
Im not to sure about that, these are the current odds for the world cup:
England are currently 6/1
USA are currently 66/1.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
When have we ever slaughtered USA at soccer, cant remember ??.

You can wish in one hand and crap in the other England isn't going to win it. You may as well have our line
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
we can beat anybody in the tournament and that's not like Henry Bruseles could beat Floyd Mayweather, we really could, and I mean better teams than England, but its just we can't do it consistently enough to get anywhere serious. I'd take getting to the knockout stages.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
we can also obviously lose to just about anybody in the tournament. It would help to be in an easier group than last time.
Re: Horrible news for US Soccer
Well with Davies out we've got to replace a starting striker and hopefully we can do that without using the names Ching or Casey.
I think right now you give Freddy Adu a shot to be the man at striker, sure he's small, but he's quick, and can score and he's worked with Altidore before.
If not Adu then I would like Kenny Cooper to get a shot because he's big and he can score on set peices.
And if you're Eddie Johnson you better get your ass in gear and get in shape because he could get a second chance and if he ever lived up to his potential then he could really help us out.
FYI as long as Frank Lampard is playing for England you guys won't win anything
