Floyd doesnt have that icing on the cake:p
Been there done that with Coralles, Castillo, Hatton
Non were seen as serious threats to Floyd, for various reasons, Corrales for the weight, Castillo for not having anyting special and also not being undefeated (undefeated means nothing skill wise but he wasnt a unified rising young star like Kessler) and Hattonw as moving up a weight and most felt that hed lose anyway.
Whereas Joe had to prove himself all over again and what I meant by people thinking he was on the slide is that the Lacy fight was probably his last good performance and that Lacy was overrated anyway, whereas Kessler had fought and beaten more world class operators and title holders and done it very well.
Emanuel Steward was gushing over Joe during his commentating of the Kessler bout, would he ever call Floyd a "fighting machine"? Or comemnt on how he "adjusts brilliantly" or even that the two combabtants are probably both 2 of the best boxers around today??
I cannot believe the bias crap that u write sometimes.
Corrales not a threat? He was 33-0 a P4P ranked fighter and had beaten:
Angel Manfredy
Derrik Gainer
John Brown
Gary St. Clair
and the weight issue? Thats no worse than the rumours Kessler had a broken hand for the Joe fight.
Castillo no threat? A guy on his 5th defense of the WBC title is no threat? A guy that n his career beat:
Stevie Johnson
Diego Corrales
Joel Casamayor
Juan Lazcano
Jorge Paez
is no threat?
Hatton no threat cos most thought he'd lose????? Could that be because Floyd is such a good fighter? Hatton no threat cos he had to move up??? May i remind u that Floyd started his career 10 pound lighter than Ricky and that at the time of their fight Ricky weighed the same? Hatton no threat even tho he'd recently Ko'd Castillo in 3 and had beaten an all time great in Kostya by TKO?
Joe is better cos Steward gushed over him? Steward also said Andy Lee would beat Pavlik this year! If u wanna talk about experts look at the fact that whilst Floyd was fighting the vast majority of experts, fans and fighters had him P4P #1. Tell u anything?

Lee is Stewards own fighter, he has to say that, whereas he has no vested interest in Joe, he was just awestruck at the talent on display in front of him.
To be called a fighting machine by a man who has trained Hearns, Moorer, Holyfield, Oscar and every other named fighter that has tried getting Manny to rescue their career is high praise.
When you look at Floyds career, itr is littered with names but only Two where faced while undefeated, One was draining himself to get down a weight and the other was light at the higher weight;D
Both Joes undefeated opponents were rising stars, big names, highly touted and favoured to beat Joe, they were established in that weight and strong in it and both were soundly beaten while Joe was well in to his mid Thirties, Hopkins has done very well beating Pavlik but even Pavlik wasnt in his own weight, still a good result that proves what Joe did to him, even now merits a lot of praise and dont forget it would have been a fresher, harder hitting Calzaghe that Bernard would have faced 5 hyears ago, had he not chickened out of that match;)

Corrales was 33-0 and P4P top 10 for fuck sake! Hatton was 43-0 and naturally heavier than Floyd!!!
Ask anyone who knows about boxing, who are the better names on a resume? Corrales and Hatton or Lacy and Kessler?
Lacy and Kessler have done nothing since their Joe fight. Could it be they arent that good?
Re: Challenge to all.........
I dont think so, Lacy was absolutely battered by Joe and finnished as a top flight operator there and then, Kessler has done nothing to prove he isnt going to carry on where he left off before Joe beat him, give Kessler time and he will prove what worth that win was for Joe, just like Hopkins did;)
Hatton has a liitle bit but I think hed struggle with the truly good boxers, whereas I see Kessler beating all at super middle and possibly light heavy, Dawson and Hopkins have turned down a match against Kessler;)

Lacy hasnt comeback at all well because of a combination of having the stuffing kicked out of him by Calzaghe, but probably more so, because of the shoulder injury. He's effectively a one armed fighter these days.

The main point i was trying to make is that undefeated Corrales and Hatton are better wins than undefeated Lacy and Kessler. Also Floyd won both his fights by KO. He beat Corrales as easily as Joe beat Lacy, and he beat Hatton easier than Joe beat Kessler.
Joe is a great fighter but Floyd has the better resume and i believe would beat Joe if they were the same size. As a Calzaghe fan u may think different but i think i make some valid points.

Wow, I respect Calzaghe but his fans make me not take him seriously. Kessler, a prehistoric-looking Jones, washed-up Lacy, 43-year old Hopkins that I think nearly if not beat Joe. I respect Joe but please don't compare him to Mayweather. Enough has been said by ICB and others.

Only problem is your talking as a Calzaghe fan. A lot of neutrals & even people who were backing Joe like me felt that Hopkins won that night. Also I think Rocky Balboa (it feels too weird writin that) was referring to the fact that certain Calzaghe fans on here are making Joe's record a lot better than what it has been, for God's sake I've seen people on this thread (& in arse-licking articles) claim he's greater than Sugar Ray Robinson, which IMO should be a suspension offence on Saddo ;D
