Re: FROCH v TAYLOR - 25/4/09 - ITV1 Sunday replay!
Good for Roach. He could've done that a couple of rounds ago IMO. Lopez is a future P4P mainstay.
Re: FROCH v TAYLOR - 25/4/09 - ITV1 Sunday replay!
I never want t see a fighter go longer than he should but I question Roach stopping the fight; Grry was fighting hard in soe of that round and didn't seem hurt. Probably a good stoppage I guess; glad I wasn't the one neding to make a decision like that. Damn good fight. Lopez is a terror and what more can one say about the depth of gameness showed by Penalosa?
Re: FROCH v TAYLOR - 25/4/09 - ITV1 Sunday replay!
I should have said I never want to see a fighter go longer than necessary and get hurt, unless it's Kermit Cintwrong.;D
Re: FROCH v TAYLOR - 25/4/09 - ITV1 Sunday replay!
i WAS 3 ROUNDS OFF I GIVE YOU TAYLOR WAS A SIGHT BIT AHEAD GOING TO THE 12TH BUT CARL COULD HAVE KNOCKED HIM OUT 3 ROUNDS AGO .WHAT TOOK HIM SO LONG TAYLOR HAS NO POWER.AND CARL NEW THAT BY THE 6TH.

I gotta disagree. Penalosa showed great heart and chin, but he was going to get seriously hurt. He ate 84 power punches in round 8, that's fucking obscene. I'd be unconscious if my 12 yr old niece landed that many power punches on me. Penalosa landed some serious shots on Lopez and never phased him. The stoppage was justified and a bit late IMO.
Re: FROCH v TAYLOR - 25/4/09 - ITV1 Sunday replay!
Roach stops it,He should get the humanitarian of the year award.Roach getting all watery eyed.Penalosa should not hang his head.Did every thing he could ,and did not quit! Lopez should match carefully,no rush.

Bute doesn't really have power. Since stepping up to world class level he's nearly always taken the distance, even a shot William Joppy went 10 rounds. His only big KO was against Berrio but he'd already been knocked out about 5 times before.
Bute wouldn't have the power to hurt Froch, Froch would knock him out in the late rounds. Kessler is a big puncher but if I recall against Andrade it was all jabs.
I'd pick Froch over Andrade if they ever meet. Oh and Alan Green beats Andrade too ;D
I disagree with almost everything you say (respectfully). Bute may not have the power his record indicates, but I'd wager he hits siginificantly harder than Jermaine Taylor, and Taylor had Froch hurt on numerous occasions.
As for the Kessler - Andrade fight, I recall Kessler's 1-2 being the story of that fight. Andrade ate a ton of straight right hands.
Andrade - Froch is close to a pick'em IMO, but I side with Andrade. And Andrade would absoluletly ruin Allan Green who's biggest claim to fame is beating up on mediocre fighters.
Nothing wrong with respectful disagreement. Bute won't be champion for long, if Froch gets to him he's being knocked out. Froch beats Andrade imo. Froch has just won a world title beating the undefeated Jean Pascal and then just ko'd one of the world's best middleweight fighters.
Andrade has yet to win a significant fight, he always comes up short, although the Bute loss was obviously bitterly controversial.
I'd put Andrade on a level similar to Sakio Bika, a tough tough fighter but not quite good enough to be a world champ. Froch would beat him, in my respectful opinion of course.
And you seriously underate Alan Green, he's going to be making a lot of noise over the next 18 months. ;)

With 85% of his colon missing I bet he makes plenty of noise all the time:fart2:

The only noise Green is going to make will result from his head bouncing off the canvas as soon as he steps up in class.
I don't think he's a bad fighter, though I very much dislike him, but he's level of opposition is extremely unimpressive so far. He could prove me wrong, but until he does my opinion of him will not change.
Oh, and I think Bute outboxes Froch handily. Potentially stopping him.

I was thinking of making the colon joke, but I figured you'd do a better job of it.

LOL. I never been much of a Taylor fan. I just thought he'll beat Fraud. And if he had any stamina he would of.
I don't know if your stream (LOL) was fukked up or not. But you can't seriously tell me Fraud is actually good and believe it. Tell me your not just a lame UK groupie who can't see reality. Are you?
Do you think Librado Andrade is shit as well then because this was a better version of his fight with Bute.
How about James Toney when he fought Michael Nunn or Chavez against Meldrick Taylor?
It was a great win for Froch, he showed an iron resolve and the self belief of a true champ who thinks he can't be beat.
Yes he uses his face as his main form of defense but that's part of his appeal.
A KO of Jermain Taylor on his resume doesn't look bad, Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright wern't able to do it.
Everyone praised Pavlik when he came back from being almost out in the third to Taylor to knock him out.
Why shouldn't Carl get the same credit?
He gets credit for getting up and taking it to Taylor to force the stoppage. But he was pretty much everything I expected. Which wasn't much. If Taylor had any stamina or had an idea how to clinch this would of been a lopsided loss for Fraud. He would of been laughed at and bad mouthed by everybody. Including the UK.
Re: FROCH v TAYLOR - 25/4/09 - ITV1 Sunday replay!
I will be honest with you all. I have not seen the fight, my internet broke after the 2nd round so I had to go to my other mates house to catch the result. Sounds exactly as I thought it would go, I knew Taylor would tire down the straight and Carls power would be too much for him. How close was the fight?

Taylor was winning by 4 rounds on 2 cards going into the 12th. Froch needed the stoppage to win.

It was pretty damn late. He stopped him with 15 seconds left. All Taylor had to do was finish the fight and the belt was his.
