Re: Pac agrees to 145 lbs!!!
What, hes sending his silk adorned emissaries now lol.Think Arum will kiss his ring when he receives him :cwm13:
I think Manny will cause many cuts.I just dont like Cottos bad habit of backing to the ropes.Enough math tutorials and calculating fractions.Just box.Going with Pacquiao.
Re: Pac agrees to 145 lbs!!!
Great news may the best man win, not rooting for anyone here.

I was complaining; but fukk it if Cotto isn't bothered with it then who am I to complain? I just want to see it. This board will be fun in the buildup:blahbla:
Where's Bilbo to give his self-aggrandizing speech:confused:
He's busy declaring Khan can beat Marquez & Mayweather within a year ;D
lol he won't fight Mayweather but Marquez a year from now is realistic, maybe not exactly 12 months, but say by the end of 2010. I see no reason why Khan, as long as he continues to improve won't be too fast, young and even smart for Marquez.
People seem to assume Marquez would just open up and blow him away but Khan WON'T be fighting like that any more. Against Marquez, Roach would have it ingrained into him more than ever to just get in and out and keep away.
Marquez isn't hard to hit and he'll be in his late thirties and probably coming off a loss to Floyd so the tide will shift. Who would have thought 18 months ago that Khan could beat Marco Antonio Barrera?
Nobody stays at the top for ever and Khan will have a decent chance at upsetting him by the end of 2010 imo.
PS. I'm NOT saying Khan could beat Marquez right now, I'm talking end of next of year. All you who scoff who would thought a couple years ago that Carl Froch could ko Jermain Taylor?

He could have made sure of that fighting at 147

there will be because cotto weighed 1 pound less than his last fight, that would make him severly drain
Sorry why would it make him severely weight drained?
Re: Pac agrees to 145 lbs!!!
145 is a perfect weight imo, both fighters can make that easily enough and in forcing Cotto to be just a little tight Pacquaio isn't putting himself at too much of a size disadvantage.
As I see it 145 is the best possible weight limit. If Manny lost at 147 people would say he was too small. At 145 neither fighter is really having to compromise too much.
I hope the much coveted WBO strap is on the line too, if only to antagonise the purists who will see great insult in the fact that a former flyweight and p4p best fighter in the world, arguably the most exciting fighter in the world could win this prized belt by forcing Cotto to weight an entire pound less than he did against Joshua Clottey.
No doubt they would rather the WBO vacated the belt and awarded it to the winner Antonin Decaire and Rafal Jackiewicz

Are you actually being serious about Amir Khan ? because lately i've been gobsmacked by some of your comments regarding Amir Khan :-\

A few years ago who the hell knew Carl Froch was?? ;D
I think if Khan beats Marquez, it will be because JMM is finished & I say that as a Khan fan. Even coming off a Floyd loss, I reckon JMM goes back down to 135 & is comfortable for a while.
I was also joking in the original post, partly in the hope Missy & Miles would see it & start raising hell ;)

I think he's a very talented fighter. Do I think he's on the level of Marquez, Pacquaio, Mayweather right now? Absolutely not.
Do I think that by the end of 2010 that Marquez will have slipped enough and Khan improved to make it a real 50/50 fight? Absolutely!
In all honesty if I would have said just prior to Ricky Hatton facing Floyd Mayweather that I believed that Amir could beat him, I would have been laughed off the forum.
What about if Khan and Hatton were to fight next? Now people arn't going to be nearly so confident, in fact Khan might even start as the slight betting favourite.
Calzaghe according to you is not a fraction of the fighter that Hopkins and Roy Jones are yet he beat both of them, Steve Collins beat both Eubank and Benn twice each yet few will rate Collins as highly as either.
The fact is timing plays a large part, Khan is on the way up, Marquez is on the way down, how long it takes before the pendulum shifts in the favour of Khan I'm not sure but I'd imagine a fight 18 months from now would certainly be interesting.

If Cotto looks fresh... which he should at 145, then how can there be any excuses?
I've been one of his biggest critics for the catchweights and I don't think 145 is that big a deal for cotto
Fair play to Roach and arum... by flirting with 142 etc they've made 145 seem like a really good deal... probably the plan all along :D
it still does baffle me why they've asked for him to shave 1 pound off ??? either they think they're being clever or it's just Diva behaviour... Cotto feels comfortable at Welter... he has a pound to play around with on the scales... so there's no stress for him. Now he's lost that pound and will have to be more stringent.
All I can think of is that he's only going to be very very slightly more stressed about making the weight.... but that's it... Just seems like Pac has wanted to throw his weight around (pun unintended) and dictate things for the sake of dictating them. I'm sure his fans will call it mind games or some shit... :vd: Personally I think if thats why he's asked for it then the effect will be negligable anyway... he would have been better off going for 147 so nobody can make any excuses.
Credit to Pac for almost stepping up in weight properly though... (lol the 142 bluffs/shit even make me happy with a catchweight)
I'd love to see him fight Mosely at 145... if Mosely can do the weight fine then I don't think Pac would stand a chance... Mosely's too smart and his chin's too good... that fight will never happen for that reason though.

Nice to see you on board now Adam and are finally agreeing with me that a 145 catchweight was no big deal.
Rains was being sarcastic though, he was rolling his eyes at the likes of you who in the past made posts telling us that even a single pound was critical and that Cotto would be a shell of a fighter if he fought at anything less than welterweight ;)
Now you're even hoping for more catchweight fights with Mosely at 145, interesting turn around.
