Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is not for any belt, be it the WW or Jr. WW belts. This fight is for the P4P#1 and Fighter of the Decade accolades. Any agreed contracted weight will do and 145 lbs. seems fair and sensible.
Not trying to hate bro but Mayweather did not make it without a sweat. He came 2 pounds over the limit against Marquez therefore had to pay a fined to him... /on another note.. This is ridiculously though Pacquiao is the 147 pound limit champion but has not and does not want to take the risk of fighting the max limit of 147.. smh
he doesn't have to. Nothings wrong if the 147 pound champ wants to come in at 145. No rule against that. But his opponents shouldn't be made to make the same weight. They should be able to weigh in from 141 to 147 at the weigh in. if Manny only wants to weigh in at 145 thats fine. but thats a personal preference, HIS personal preference, his opponent shouldn't have to do the same.

Bro this PBF-Pacquiao fight does not need to fall exactly in a division limit. This fight is about the best fighting the best. This is for P4P#1 and Fighter of the Decade status.
In coming up with the weight, we will consider what's the best compromise weight between the 2 boxers and I think 145 lbs. is it based on their last weigh-in weights.
Anyway they can agree to have the weigh-in weight peg at 145 and Floyd has the options to come in at 146 or 147 but he has to pay some penalties like what he did in his JMM fight where he came in 2 lbs. overweight and paid $600,000 penalty.
The fight is off if anyone will come in more than 2 lbs. over the agreed contracted weight.
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
You failed to mention the whole context.:rolleyes:
THAT WAS BECAUSE FLOYD WANTS IT AT 160 LBS. :o:o
So it is a negotiation strategy!!
Here is the interview:
Fred, the entire galaxy wants Manny to fight Mayweather next. What would be the biggest challenge in making this happen?
FR – The biggest challenge will be to get Mayweather to agree to the terms of the fight. I would like to see the fight at 145 lbs. and Mayweather will go for 160 lbs. The terms of the fight would have to have a clause that includes penalties for coming in overweight. He needs us, so if he wants to fight at a heavier weight then he will have to pay for it.

He might as well have said "I wanted Manny to beat a dead body in there" - A very coniving (sp?) move that could have lead to a death in the ring.
So you mean Roach is a Nostradamus coz he knew very well in advance that Oscar will be weight drained, that Hatton will fall inside 3 rounds and Pacquiao will demolish Cotto?

Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
If Mayweather fought Marquez at 143, why can't Roach demand the fight to be at 145?
I hope you're not playing favorites Jaz.
Pac had a hard time against a 145 Cotto and I think going in 3 weights from superfeatherweight is too much for Pac. Roach as the best coach ever, knows what's good for his fighter and he's doing his best to protect Pac.
He's overprotective now considering what happened to Z Gorres. The sports is too dangerous and I hope you also take into consideration the dangerous path Pac is currently taking now.
As a fan of the sports, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
After watching Pac vs Cotto, I could see already feel that Pac does not belong in the welterweight. He had been into many wars already and he had been into serious punishments.
Remember that no matter how great Pac is, he's still human.

But you know if Floyd comes in over the limit just like in the Marquez fight most people will cry and IF Floyd was to win the fight alot would blame it on coming over the limit...

Said it once I'll say it again. Weighing heavier then your opponent has nothing to do with. Out-timing, outspeeding, outboxing and out-defensing another fighter.
But against Pacquiao if it was at the 147 pound weight limit. I don't think Mayweather would come in over. If it was 145 I'm unsure, Mayweather is the kind of person who isn't going to disadvantage himself and wants to come into a fight the best shape possible. I don't think we'll get a Pacquiao fight if Roach wants them to fight at 145. Roach makes more stipulations then Mayweather ever would.
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
Mayweather is a cunning sonova beach. Freddy is looking to create any possible advantage he can for his fighter. If you don't think Floyd is trying to do the same thing, then your eyes are not open.
When your are king of the hill and can leverage laws or rules to protect your position. You will do that. Let the chess match begin. Go Freddy go!!!
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
Exactly! You guys are acting like Roach chiseled a stone tablet. Whoever Pac fights will have their position on the particulars, and they'll have to hash out concessions on both sides. If it's PBF, he'll have some pretty strong bargaining power on his side...

Floyd got criticized when he came in over the contracted weight since he signed/agreed the contract for that weight. That's why Floyd was penalized coz he didn't follow the contract.
145 lbs. seems the most fair and logical weight for Pacquiao-Floyd fight. It's 1 lb less than Floyd's last weigh-in weight and 1 lb. more than Pacquiao's last weigh-in weight.

In all honestly i just hope this fight gets made no matter at what weight... lol.. Although i don't like catch weights.. this fight needs to be made! I pick Mayweather UD
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
Here's a link re the weight classes, no one is arguing really that Pac is WW champion, what the point is, is that he is dictating what weight his opponent comes in at , that's not how it works. The sanctioning bodies recognise the classes and should stop supporting catch weights.

Pac is a WW (147) champion and a Jr. WW (140) champion at the same time. Those were the belts he's currently holding now.
But these belt titles doesn't really matter. It's not the primary reason why Pacquiao vs. Mayweather should be made. The fight is not for who's the best WW or Jr. WW boxer.
This fight is all about the best fighting the best in P4P terms.
