Yes that is a good point.

No one is doubting Khan's boxing ability and he has KO power, but he lacks a chin - qualities that are much like Haye really.
Why not? He's still shown excellent boxing skills.
Would you refuse to give Ivan Calderon credit until he knocks someone out for the count, or refuse to give Floyd Maywether credit until he beats someone with as much natural skill as him?
Even if Khan in the future does fall once more to a big puncher it does not discredit his other wins or mean he deserves no credit for his speed, power and skill.
Every fighter has strengths and weakeness and will struggle against certain types of opponents.
Not every fighter is perfect. Obviously.
Khan has looked good thus far and I thought he handled himself with class in and outside the ring this last Saturday. I guess to me he is just a bit overated on this board.
He is only 22 and he has the time to develop a style which emphasizes defense and minimizes his exposure to big punches. He doesn't need to rush into anything.
However, not being able to handle punchers, isn't just an insignificant weakness, it's a downfall.
I'd like to see him in with Maidana, Urango, or Campbell, but maybe he isn't ready for those tests yet. It wouldn't be a big deal, like I said, he is only 22.
Re: What did you see different with Khan ?
You cannot tell after one fight and a one round blow out but since his defeat he has improved, tucked his chin, can be disciplined and getting more confident. Speed was always there and experience he will get in time.

It counts for so much too, everything as in 'everything' can stem from a good jab. Recon you'd need one just to keep Manny off you sparring.
This kid could go far now if they pick their marks well and time it all for him.

He has fantastic speed , good power , and improved defence under Freddie Roach , but he fought a guy with a weak chin , he didn't take any punches , so question marks still remain about Khan's chin.
I want to see Khan in a hard fight , so we can truly judge him on his improvements , he did everything asked of him on Saturday night , but I'm not so convinced he can become an elite fighter.
This is not a dig at Khan , I'm just interested in your views guys.
Discuss.
Better combines, tighter defense and lighter on feet. Let's not jump in the world's conquest wagon but he did a very good improvement, the fact to spare with Manny the kingpin Pacquiao can only help him to get better as he will have to react against the best and he's just a young kid still.
All in all, I think he can be a force to reckon with, he has that potential, let's see now how it goes and it is way too soon to jump to the conclusion he,ll be the next big thing.

True; but with these guys behind him, he will have only himself to blame if it goes c up.
Re: What did you see different with Khan ?
Anyone who for a second thinks that Khan hasn't improved since his arrival to the Wild Card Gym must be blind or has not seen it.
I've seen Amir at the Wild Card Gym sparring. Since his arrival here the kids def. picked up a lot of pointers and has def. improved 1 thing is certain he's a great listener and I believe this has to do with him having Freddie in his corner.
I bet not many if at all realized this but Freddie whispered into Amirs ear twice before the fight began vs. Salita.
Once while Freddies back was to the camera, the 2nd as Amir prayed.
Freddie tells Amir "Go get' em"... what happened next?

Seriously? By whom? It seems the vast majority of fightfans regard him as a joke, the majority dislike him, some plain hate, most think he's completely chinny and will be exposed when he moves up to world class.
I actually think Khan is seriously underated by most.
I rate him highly of course, but I don't think I overrate him at all. I believe he has the potential to be great, his chin and vulnerability is a factor and he could implode at any moment in a fight, but he's improving massively and I think has as good a shot as any young prospect of making it to the very top.
I think that's an accurate assessment not an over estimation, and I probably am Amir's most vocal fan on these boards.
I have never heard a single person really go overboard on Amir's potential on this board, or on tv. I think he gets a lot of attention certainly, but I don't think anybody overates him, not even Duke McKenzie and Barry McGuigan.
They just tell us he's a terrific prospect with great potentional, which he is.
I think people confuse attention with overrating.
Re: What did you see different with Khan ?
If the guy's got a weak chin, and it appears he does, he will probably always have a weak chin. He can't help it so it's kinda unfair to condemn him for it. That doesn't mean he can't be a great fighter, he just has to develop a solid defense and a style that protects that chin.

This sums up how legitimate Khan's claim to being WORLD CHAMPION , he is WBA champion but not ready for certain contenders ? lol bullshit politics.
For me he needs to fight a legit world class puncher and showcase his skills , and win , someone like Maidana , then he will show his true colours. Its easy to look improved against lesser fighters.

Well said Bilbo  Completely agree.
So what happens if he knocks his next few opponents out the same way, and his opponents dont get a chance to land one on him due to greater boxing skills he is now gaining under Roach. Will he still be slated or questioned  Floyd is still questioned over his chin, problem being very few have actually landed hard on his whiskers so does that mean he doesnt have a chin ?
Give him credit for what he is doing, you can only beat whats put in front of you. No-one thought ( including myself ) he would beat MAB, but the record books show he did.
Re: What did you see different with Khan ?
Yes the guy he beat was not the best and I dont think anybody is trying to say he is.
What imppressed most people IMO is the way Khan looked so devestating and made it look so easy.
Khan IMO was told by Roach to be agressive and to try and force the action which he did.
If Khan was not as confident with his abilitys and with his trainner he could have gone safty first and look to break Salita down before going for the stoppage.
They only way Khan was going to look good and get credit frrom this fight was if he scored a devestating KO.
Which he did.;D

I agree with this red stuff above.
Khan is supposedly a champion now and in the big league. But I haven't seen him beat a top fighter yet (and don't even go near the Barrera fight!). Khan needs to face someone decent, but I don't think he will. We will see Warren milk him as long as possible before the inevitable throw into the wolves. Might be a good while yet.

The fault is with the alphabet "world" titles not with Khan. Loads of "world" champions are not the top of their division.
Recently some Barrera fans were happy to see he has a chance of becoming "world" champion again by fighting Paulus Moses for his WBA title. There are 7 fighters ranked above the "world" champ according to The Ring, and Saddo ratings doesn't even have him listed ;)

I have abstained from too much of that talk regarding Barrera, so will stay quiet on that.
As for Khan...Well, I do partly blame him. He gets hated because he fights nobody good. We can blame the belts, or we can blame Warren or we can blame Khan. Khan is the man signing the contracts so he is the man I will gun for.
