What did you see different with Khan ?

Will someone explain to me whether Khan must (as in it is his mandatory defense) defend the title against Maidana in his next fight? I'm just not ready to give Khan credit until he handles a puncher. I can just see Khan taking on Paulie if Paulie wins this weekend, which would make it three fights in a row against fighters who don't have much punching power. No one is doubting Khan's boxing ability and he has KO power, but he lacks a chin - qualities that are much like Haye really.

I do think his defense has improved over the past 4 fights and he seems to pace himself better and his footwork seems better also.

I already knew Khan had pop though, He has good power when he sits down on his punches.

You cannot tell after one fight and a one round blow out but since his defeat he has improved, tucked his chin, can be disciplined and getting more confident. Speed was always there and experience he will get in time.

Seriously? By whom? It seems the vast majority of fightfans regard him as a joke, the majority dislike him, some plain hate, most think he's completely chinny and will be exposed when he moves up to world class.

I actually think Khan is seriously underated by most.

I rate him highly of course, but I don't think I overrate him at all. I believe he has the potential to be great, his chin and vulnerability is a factor and he could implode at any moment in a fight, but he's improving massively and I think has as good a shot as any young prospect of making it to the very top.

I think that's an accurate assessment not an over estimation, and I probably am Amir's most vocal fan on these boards.

I have never heard a single person really go overboard on Amir's potential on this board, or on tv. I think he gets a lot of attention certainly, but I don't think anybody overates him, not even Duke McKenzie and Barry McGuigan.

They just tell us he's a terrific prospect with great potentional, which he is.

If the guy's got a weak chin, and it appears he does, he will probably always have a weak chin. He can't help it so it's kinda unfair to condemn him for it. That doesn't mean he can't be a great fighter, he just has to develop a solid defense and a style that protects that chin.

Khan is supposedly a champion now and in the big league. But I haven't seen him beat a top fighter yet (and don't even go near the Barrera fight!). Khan needs to face someone decent, but I don't think he will. We will see Warren milk him as long as possible before the inevitable throw into the wolves. Might be a good while yet.

I have abstained from too much of that talk regarding Barrera, so will stay quiet on that.

As for Khan...Well, I do partly blame him. He gets hated because he fights nobody good. We can blame the belts, or we can blame Warren or we can blame Khan. Khan is the man signing the contracts so he is the man I will gun for.

So what happens if he knocks his next few opponents out the same way, and his opponents dont get a chance to land one on him due to greater boxing skills he is now gaining under Roach. Will he still be slated or questioned Floyd is still questioned over his chin, problem being very few have actually landed hard on his whiskers so does that mean he doesnt have a chin ?

Give him credit for what he is doing, you can only beat whats put in front of you. No-one thought ( including myself ) he would beat MAB, but the record books show he did.

What imppressed most people IMO is the way Khan looked so devestating and made it look so easy.


Khan IMO was told by Roach to be agressive and to try and force the action which he did.


If Khan was not as confident with his abilitys and with his trainner he could have gone safty first and look to break Salita down before going for the stoppage.

They only way Khan was going to look good and get credit frrom this fight was if he scored a devestating KO.
