Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
I haven't given a Floyd opponent a shot to beat him since Oscar, until Canelo. It's clear if you are a boxer turning down a Floyd Mayweather fight is retarded, so it makes sense why he is facing him now. At the same time, Canelo seems a little green to me. If you're a Canelo fan, in the ideal world, he could face some more competition before getting in the right with the best. Racking up wins against other belt holders before facing the best wouldn't be a bad idea.
The only reason why I think he might not be too green is because of his win over Trout. Trout is a full-fledged junior middleweight that completely dominated Cotto in his last fight. It's possible to use that as a yard stick for where Canelo is at.

I do think that Oscar was the most dangerous and toughest opponent for Floyd in years. Tougher even than Canelo will be on paper, but since Canelo is ever improving and a big bastard with underrated defense, and a whole country behind him (why I don't know cus he's a prick), well all that adds up to him being potentially a very rough night for Floyd.
I think Floyd will win, but he cannot sleep on the ginger bastard.
What makes him 'a prick'?
His smug arrogance, beating up on tomato cans his first 30 or 40 fights and his sense of entitlement fighting for his first belt against MATTHEW HATTON.
Not to mention assaulting some lil bantam weight for supposedly hitting on his girlfriend.
He's a bully and he likes to jerk off fancy horses or artificially inseminate them or something of the sort.
I do not like him Sam I am, I do not like red headed fuck and ham.

Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
On paper, probably. But in hindsight after the fight happens, i think we will all be singing a different tune
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
I didn't know this was at 152. It's pretty hypocritical of Floyd, who I think bashed Manny for making people come down to catch weights.
I for sure rank Hatton, DLH and Mosley victories (at the time he got them) over Canelo. But I'd rank Canelo over Cotto, Ortiz and Guerrero, who were three guys who I don't think anyone gave any real chance to.

The Trout fight was a travesty...sure Canelo won...but the scoring was disgraceful and outside of a knockout Trout never had a chance in that environment. More so...Canelo showed his stamina issues in full spades. Canelo and his team went for the big money with the Floyd fight and i can't hate him for that. But he is about to get schooled.

I thought the same when Floyd and Manny fought Oscar that it was about the money. When they beat him they became massive stars. If Canelo wins this he will pick up the multi million dollar cheques that Floyd would have got.

How could you not give Ricky Hatton a shot at beating Floyd?

Floyd and Pac where at completely different stages of their careers compared to Canelo. They were proven champions...on a whole different level than Alvarez is right now. Alvarez could have still picked up huge paydays without this fight and gotten more experience as well. He has not fought anyone remotely as good as Floyd and he is going to get badly exposed. Sometimes...patience is a virtue.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
Canelo doesn't have a whole lot to lose in this, unless he fights like a complete bitch. If he wins, he whipped the undefeated p4p great and becomes a legend before 25. If he loses, him and his promoters can just spin the "he wasn't ready, too young, learned a lot, made him a better fighter" angle and he goes on to a great career.

I think anyone who thinks Canelo is Floyd's toughest test above 140 is either severely over rating Canelo or is playing a little bit of revisionist history with Floyd's opponents.
DLH, Mosley and Hatton were acknowledged as "over the hill" a few short years after Floyd fought them, but when he DID fight them they were considered serious threats.
Nice try but DLH was inactive , cross dressed and not motivated, Mosley was already breaking down chemically from years of stroid use and Cotto had already exposed and whippeed that ass and Hatton iwas fucking Benny Hill with trunks. No kudos to PBF's lite menu of opponents
