So what Mayweather went on record accusing Pacquiao of steroids, it's boxing for christs sake, there are so many examples of atrocious deflamation of character throughout the sport it's not even worth mentioning. This is absolutely a lose-lose for Pacquiao, he stands to gain absolutely nothing in this case, even if he were to win it wouldn't validate his being drug free in the slightest, the fact that he is taking legal action in the first place rather than agree to blood testing is the closest thing to confessing his guilt as far as I'm concerned.
Mayorga told ODLH he was going to fuck his wife and that didn't even end up in court.
This is starting to fall in lock-step with what generalulldog was saying.
Clemens files defamation lawsuit against ex-trainer McNamee - MLB - ESPN
"Clemens filed the suit Sunday night in Harris County District Court in Texas, listing 15 alleged statements McNamee made to the baseball drug investigator George Mitchell. Clemens claimed the statements were "untrue and defamatory.""
because
"Clemens' good reputation has been severely injured," the suit said. "McNamee's false allegations have also caused Clemens to suffer mental anguish, shame, public humiliation and embarrassment."
"the testing program we have set up in Major League Baseball is great," he said.

I don't think it's possible to spin it. I was one of Mayweathers biggest critics, but there is just no way to get on his case over this carry on. A request for absolute fairness in a fight is not something that can really be called into question, certainly not if you are a person of principles and with the knowledge that there are serious loopholes. Manny's sacrifice of the payday of a lifetime because he won't take a random test, is just incredible. And to try and sue everyone over it? Pac's team have become increasingly difficult to deal with in negotiations over time. But in this instance they have truly lost the plot.
All of Manny's supporters need to take a cold, hard look at the situation and see it for what it is. Manny Pac refuses the fight we all want to see because he isn't willing to provide random checks. No other opponent should really fight him either, unless he is willing to provide the tests for them. If that means Manny has to retire, then so be it. I have no interest in seeing him fight again the way things stand. His reputation has taken a serious hit. Manny might make a pretty good politician judging by his recent behaviour. He is able to smile for the cameras and say its all down to god, but when it comes down to the serious questions he is simply unable to back it up. All it takes is a little bit of blood.
I hope he enjoys his adventure in the courtrooms. After all that's obviously the way to solve everything.

Other than Mike Leach, I didn't think it was possible for someone to fukk up their own career as badly as Manny seems to be doing now.

Re: Pacquiao successfully files law suit
I am in disgust with Pac and his team. He is going to court in attempt to clear his name instead of what best clears your name, random blood tests. Laughable, yet sad, overly suspicious, and losing creditbility by the day. He should've just got off the PEDs for this fight, probably lose, but have his name and legacy intact and the public fool.

on a side note. its funny how an accusation of a known drug dealer, peddler, and drug user could turn boxing upside down. i wish the fight happens tho.

I agree. I've said before that I am very surprised how much traction the Mayweather's accusations have gotten. However, I think Pacquiaio's reaction and handling of the situation are primarily responsible for this bullshit getting blown all out of proportion.

Yes we all know about Mayweather Sr. shady character and I didn't really care about it and thought his claims were ridiculous, but ever since Pac has declined to have random blood tests, now those accusations are not baseless anymore, get it?
Now old man Floyd is not so crazy and delusional anymore. It seems at this point that what Floyd Sr. is saying is correct. The guy is a cheater.
As everyone has said, if you're not guilty why not have random blood tests? Is the p4p king really afraid of needles when he has tats everywhere on his body? Is it really going to drain him when he had his blood drawn 2 weeks before the Hatton fight? It's suspicious.

Re: Pacquiao successfully files law suit
For a public figure to win a defamation suit in the USA is off the charts difficult, because the 1st ammnedment is arguably the central American value. Virtually every benefit of doubt is given to the person making the accusations, as the constitution demands a free exchange of ideas.
Specifically, the judge has to find actual malice, meaning PBF & Co had to "know the statement was false." I suppose if someone said "I saw Manny inject" and that can be proved false Pac would have a case; but mere speculation that he takes steroids is indeed constitutionally protected speech. After all, many people have speculated about many athletes even when they had yet (or had never) tested positive: (hollyfied, Woods, Dykstra, Sosa, every offensive lineman in the NFL, etc) and never had to pay a dime in court.
Pac appears to be reating like Clemons, thinking his faithful fans will assume if he's willing to file a suit, he must be innocent. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Re: Pacquiao successfully files law suit
Althougth there is a amount specified in the suit, There is something called punitive damages and or actual damages. It could be called something else but I'm pretty sure there is more than one type of award if the case is won. The Pacquiao's Lawyer might be talking about the one not listed. Mayweather's insistence on having testing done outside of Boxing could actually be used against him as proof of losses using the guaranteed amount especially if he put his name to paper on the other issues. I'm pretty sure everyone will agree that Pacquiao's reputation has suffered greatly because Mayweather's insistence to have additional testing done. People will try to argue that it's because Pacquiao would not agree to the random part of the tests but the truth is, it is all additional testing. The court should view it as such, unless his Lawyer is able to spin it without showing Mayweather is guilty implying that Pacquiao is using PED's. It a catch-22 situation. So ya the case could possibly be worth millions.

Do you really think he's going to make 40 million off this? An extreme increase in performance is a reason stated by the WADA for doing extra testing of an athlete, the NSAC defers to the WADA for their drug screening rules. Pacquiao has been untouchable in his last few fights in higher weight classes.
Mayweather Sr. thinks he's on steroids, so the Mayweather camp says ok prove you're clean and we'll make the fight happen. And then the lawsuit came, not after the accusation, but after they asked for a drug test.
Who cares about the case and how much money he can make?
He just ruined the chance for the fight. As of March 17th Pacquiao starts his political campaign, that's it for boxing assuming he wins the election. With all the blind devotion he gets he should be easy victor.

Actually I don't care if he make only 1 cent from the Law Suit, it just that people were writing 75x4/5=350K. You could be right that Mayweather will have a good defense. But as you have just stated you have your doubts about Pacquiao. Much more now than if only Mayweather Sr. said it.
[I don't think his chances of fighting Mayweather are ruined. Especially if Pacquiao wins the case. It should piss Mayweather Jr. off so much that he'd jump at the chance to face Pacquiao. If we are lucky, we might get to see Mayweather try to go toe to toe.... (Not really I'm just playing):lolhaha:
No way a fight gets made! ]
I just read though a big part of the petition (someone posted the link) and the $75K apparently is a only number that it exceeds. Not a specified amount he is claiming. The evidence listed against Mayweather Jr. is not so damning as it is with Mayweather Sr. I don't know what that means in making connections because it will be the Lawyer's job will be to connect the dots. I think he's going to have to do it with additional petitions. I don't think well be getting too many more accusations about Pacquiao using PED's from any of the named defendants. The rules are they get the filed documents as well.
Do I want to see Pacquiao win the case? I don't care... I only want to see the look on Mayweather Sr.'s face if he does. Why? I can't stand the disrespect he shows. As for Mayweather Jr. I don't think he is as malicious as Sr. but I also don't think he is innocent of wanting Pacquiao to have a popularity downfall. I'd much rather see the fight.:(

Oh well fuck it, I'm no pactard but I believe he's innocent. Hell, so does Larry Merchant! ;)
Seriously though Pacquiao is a proud man and for me personally if he wins the lawsuit it regains a snip of credibility. Unfortunately doubts will always remain but the statment he released yesterday comes across as genuine to me.
F*ck this witch hunt! Not one gad damn shred of evidence, innocent until proven guilty!!!

Random testing is the proving method. Manny doesn't want to prove it in the ring when we know it's fair. Cmon, as a community we should push Manny to just accept the tests, they'll have to be put in place in boxing at some point anyways, does Manny want to go down in history as one of the last champions to oppose this (more conclusive) type of testing? If he throws this fight away over a few teaspoons of blood, he should be considered guilty.
EDIT: and btw, Larry Merchant is senile and has been for years now. You can tell from his ridiculous catch phrases: "Paulie Malignaggi floats like a butterfly and stings...... like a butterfly.." Seriously, what a f**king idiot. HBO should get a wheelchair (or coffin) on standby for him.

Re: Pacquiao successfully files law suit
This is bullshit - I wouldn't be surprised if this is a move encouraged by the scumbags Manny surrounds himself with, rather than the man himself.
Roach, Ariza, Konz..Hell, even his name is fucking "cons" - and people thought Mayweathers entourage were bad
They ain't got shit on cockroach, Triple A - Alex "anabolic" Ariza and Michael...erm..Konz?
At least when the Mayweathers are outspoken, you know they're literally too stupid to know better.
It shows what Roach is about, when he lost the plot with his friend over at doghouseboxing and told him to fuck off. That is a beaten man who has nowhere left to run or hide.
Man, I'm pissed - This fight had to happen..I'm still hoping they can do something but it's gonna be difficult now.
And KillerSheep, you wanna wait until people spin this on FMJ? No need to wait dude..it's those 2 magic words again... YOU TUBE!

Mayweather's the disgraceful one. Instead of making the fight happen he slanders Pacquiao, and sets fire to Pacquiao's name by demanding tests that Rarley/NEVER used in professional boxing!
I don't know what's up with all the Pacquiao hatred on this forum. Even typically level headed posters are hating him. Pac man has done more for the sport than any other fighter the past couple years.

Pacquiao made the choice to sue instead of taking a simple blood test that thousands of athletes have had no problem with, I guess you're a bigger fan of courtroom battles than boxing, so enjoy.

That is not quite true. I visit my legal court talk forum slightly less than saddos :)
Seriously though, prime athletes are picky, often superstitious. It's not hard to relate to someone feeling that giving blood 1-2 days before a fight would weaken them mentally.
Why make Pacquiao run through hoops in the first place? I guess I just dont see the "blatant" evidence everyone else does that Pacquiao's reluctance to jump through hoops and bend to Mayweathers idiotic antics incriminates him.
If Floyd had class/respect in the first place none of this would've happened.
Dont blame Pacquiao for this. It takes two parties to negotiate. I still think the fight will happen. This is just the "fight" before the fight. A bunch of posing. This type of thing isnt typical for Pacquiao, so blame PBF/GB for the delay. But dont expect Pacquiao to bend over to it

see, theres some gray areas that some people dont know yet they still insist that they know inside out what the true issue is. manny never said he dont want to be tested. he just doesnt want to be tested so close to the fight. he is willing to be tested 30 days before and right after the fight. so do you think HGH or whatever it is wont be in his blood right after the fight? simple blood test? its random. that means they could also wake him up in the middle of the night or draw blood from him while he walks to the ring. whats so simple about that? try getting your blood drawn, even one veil and as soon as you're done get up and walk and lets see if you dont get dizzy.

Whatever man, GBP/Mayweather are not the ones taking this initiative on the court side. Why should I care about Pac's superstitions? especially considering he's given blood within 2 days of a fight before (Morales I) and 14 days before (Hatton). Both were drum roll please............random......So now it's not so unprecedented is it?
This is just me talking here, but Pac is being a pussy.
And the statement I've made all along that "Pac is backing out of the fight because of a drug test" is still true.
You can enjoy your spin doctoring and casting blame back all you want that's your right, but Pacquiao is the one that refused to sign and it was because a drug test came to light.
Mayweather Sr. said Pacquiao was on steroids in September, that's the defamation we're talking about here right? If that's the case why was the lawsuit not put into motion until the final stage of contract signage? He already knew Mayweather had people in his camp (Mayweather Sr.) that thought he was doing some kind of PED. So if Manny let it slide for three months without a peep of recourse UNTIL it's announced that they want extra drug testing........................

What an absolute joke.
why is he a joke? because he wants to file a lawsuit against people that try to ruin his credibility without any evidence? and he has helped his people before and even after all this nonsense so whats your point?
What and the lawsuit is going to return the credibility? It's not going to change anyone's minds win or lose. People that support Pac through thick and thin will continue to do so. People that have doubts because he won't take a drug test will continue to do so. Nothing changes as far as his credibility goes. Just a money grab.

I don't know what's up with all the Pacquiao hatred on this forum. Even typically level headed posters are hating him. Pac man has done more for the sport than any other fighter the past couple years.
I don't see as how a boxing fan can't be a Pacquiao fan unless their vision is skewed by bias/ignorant dislike.
Pacquiao made the choice to sue instead of taking a simple blood test that thousands of athletes have had no problem with, I guess you're a bigger fan of courtroom battles than boxing, so enjoy.
see, theres some gray areas that some people dont know yet they still insist that they know inside out what the true issue is. manny never said he dont want to be tested. he just doesnt want to be tested so close to the fight. he is willing to be tested 30 days before and right after the fight. so do you think HGH or whatever it is wont be in his blood right after the fight? simple blood test? its random. that means they could also wake him up in the middle of the night or draw blood from him while he walks to the ring. whats so simple about that? try getting your blood drawn, even one veil and as soon as you're done get up and walk and lets see if you dont get dizzy.
Manny, Roach, Arum all have said a lot of things. They had no less than 4 reasons of why they didn't want to take the drug test.
1. Superstition - whatever that means
2. Mental Weakness - really a top athlete at the top of a sport can't handle a drug test?
3. It would interupt the training schedule. - His training schedule is no more rigorous than that of olympic athletes and yet they can all handle it.
4. It gives control to team mayweather - who cares it's the last point of the negotiations
5. It's unprecidented, Manny has given blood randomly at least two times to my knowledge both times within 30 days of a fight.
6. He's going to court - this one is true.

But dont expect Pacquiao to bend over to it
Whatever man, GBP/Mayweather are not the ones taking this initiative on the court side.
Ok, Pacquiao gave blood (apparently) 2 days before Morales I...and that was the last time he lost. I can see why he's not crazy about the idea of giving blood that close to a fight if the last time he did it was the last time he lost.
Or maybe he lost because he couldn't squeeze in a quick cycle of his precious steroids before the fight
No one cared about Mayweather Sr's accusation in September, because he had no involvement with anything related to Pacquiao and no bases for the accusation. It was easily dismissed and irrelevant. But make those accusations again, when the spotlight in on Pacquiao and Mayweather, toss in some spineless accusations by DLH and a few cowardly boxers who are wearing their jealousy of Pacquiao on their arm, and quickly Pacquiaos achievements are cast into doubt.
And why? Because of stupid accusations with no basis.
Personally I don't think Pacquiao is using steroids. I think it's witchcraft. We'll have to burn him at the stake to find out. If he flys away on his broom, then he's a witch and guilty. If he burns to death, then he's not a witch, but at least he's proven innocent

Let's flip the script here. Let's say for the sake of argument Roach said "Mayweather is on steroids", would it not be in Pacquiao's best interests to make sure that, it is NOT true to the best of ability? And if you could honestly say that with roles reversed you would support Mayweather's lawsuit INSTEAD of the fight without critique and suspicion? You couldn't because your damn sure right you'd be calling him out on it, and I would be right there with you.
No need for that nonsense, a simple battery of blood tests will definitively prove (at least to the best ability of current science) that he is clean, he still fights, still gets his 40 million+ payday, proves the Mayweathers wrong and clears his name. ALL FROM ONE SIMPLE SERIES OF TESTS, the same tests that are administered to 16 year old girls in the olympics.

We don't want to watch courtroom drama Pacquiao. What you're doing is disgraceful to the sport of boxing.
Please.
Mayweather's the disgraceful one. Instead of making the fight happen he slanders Pacquiao, and sets fire to Pacquiao's name by demanding tests that Rarley/NEVER used in professional boxing!

pac can used this forum to show how far his name has been slandered. lol
also, i see it funny how people are saying manny is giving up $40M by not taking a simple blood test. no one seem to realize that floyd is also giving up the same amount by not coming up with simple compromise of an effective test that would be acceptable to both parties. teamfloyd did say that pac would be easy work inside the ring. so why insists on their demands and not come up with a counter proposal since teampac did say that they're ok with random testing as long as there would be none of it a mere couple of days before the fight. maybe mayweather's team should just find a compromise with their demands. why not propose an effective test that would not require blood drawing so close to the fight? pacquiao after all is an easy fight according to the mayweathers and they're blowing away an easy $40M by insisting on a test that's never been done before in any professional championship fight, a test they never thought of asking any previous opponent before. i should say both sides are being stupid not to work this out.
i think pacquiao and mayweather can still come to a compromise regarding the testing and make the fight happen. the script isn't finish yet imo. the pac-dlh fight was also called off but eventually still got made.

Mayweathers camp did compromise.
Look at the facts, each team had a significant issue with the fight.
Pac's team was concerned that Mayweather would come in over weight. Mayweather agreed to the 10 million per pound clause to guarantee he would come in within the welterweight limit.
Mayweather's team was concerned Pacquiao was using PEDs. So they asked for a test to prove he was clean to the best of the ability of modern science. Pacquiao started making random excuses THEN ODLH came out and said he had concerns blah blah blah. And then Pacquiao sued instead of agreeing to the test.
Someone that files a lawsuit is not looking to negotiate.

they compromised regarding the weight penalty but not their demand of olympic type testing wherein they could draw blood from manny even within 48 hours from the fight.

I should probably post a new thread but other probably will anyway and I think it belongs here.
Mayweather Jr. can take the steam out of this Lawsuit even for most everyone named in it simply by fighting Pacquiao. If he fights Pacquiao this March and they make more money than ever before then measuring the cost of defamation will be very very difficult.

Mayweather has until Monday to take Pacquiao’s drug testing deal
Nah. I'd say just wait for the outcome of the lawsuit and let the fight happen next fall.

pac should do the drug test and then continue with the case. If he's proven clear and win in the fight, he will double his revenue: the assured pot money and the payment for defamation.
if he's clear and lose the fight, he'll still double his revenue: the assured pot money and the payment for defamation.
He has nothing to lose here.
Pac should and must take the olympic random drug test. The boxing fans and the haters deserve to be satisfied.
Pac has no right to say no to something like drug testing no matter how ludicrous it is.
Pac needs to finish this issue and start with the training. The whole world knows that the only way this fight will not happen with all the money involved is to do the olympic drug testing.
IF Pac gives in to Mayweather's demand, his win over PBF will be much sweeter.
