Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
Lennox being my favorite heavyweight ever would win more often than not, he is like a Klitschko sized David Haye with a better chin, but if anyone in the history of the heavyweight division IMO could beat Lennox at his best its Klitschko nobody else has the size, skill, and chin to compete with Lennox.
I also argue that it wasn't Lennox's best performance but clearly Klitschko made Lennox look a lot worse than he is/was. I think Klitschko had a very difficult style for Lennox who never liked fighting jabbers that much.

Welcome to the forum.
I thought Lewis - Vitali was fairly close up until the stoppage.
It really wasn't only the cut made Vitali look like he was a having a difficult night. Lennox was getting his getting outboxed, though he was starting to come back with big punches, but they didn't seem to bother Vitali that much.

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
You honestly think it was by design that Vitali would take a couple rounds off even though his face looked to have gone through a meat mincer and everyone and their mother knew the fight wasn't going past a 7 or 8 rounds, what a good time for Vitali to gear for the end.

..
Yes, Vitali looks like he ran into an airplane prop. But Lewis looks like he knows he got lucky. He sure don't want to fight vitali any more.
Well I was there and Vitali was acting like a madman and not thinking straight...He has also been guilty of attacking opponents his brother lost to EG- He had to be restrained in the corner by at least 3 men when Wlad lost to Sanders....
C'Mon man you are starting to go from debating the subject to just obnoxious
He's still right, however. Lewis was very lucky, and he was behaving like a nutjob during the interview with merchant. He was very defensive and acting like everyone in the arena was completely insane for booing the results.
Vitaly wanted to keep fighting and it was clear of that. Lewis took a giant sigh of relief then retired instead of giving vitaly a proper rematch, but I don't blame him for being smart and sensing that shark Vitaly smelled blood coming out of his old ass.
I would not say he was right...People bood because Lennox wanted to act as though it was an easy night...But then again name a fighter who hasn't tried to make a shit performance seem as though they were in control all along...
Lennox as said by many not just me...Underestimated Vitaly...IMO he judged Vitali's heart based on the Byrd stoppage when he dislocated his shoulder...UP until the Lennox fight just about everyone thought almost nothing of Vitali other then the "Other" brother...
Lennox trained for a fight with Johnson who was a walk over in all honesty by that point....He got Vitali who came to win....Neither man had ever faced another HW who fought the others style...
For Lewis...Vitaly a fighter willing to get rough and tough and did not back up...
For Vitaly...Lewis a fighter who was skilled and strong...Who knew how to exploit a weakness and had the power to overcome Vitali's size advantange...
Vitali would always be a style problem for Lewis but Vitali is also not versatile he is not hard to figure out most of the time....While it is easier said then done to beat him...His size and strength have been preventing fighters from succeeding much against him...
Lewis was also NOT IN HIS PRIME as some people here have continued to post and if they really knew either about him or just boxing at that time period they would know he was already winding down and the Tyson fight was his last hurahh...
And for those who know it all and swear Lewis would not even think about the rematch....Vitaly and Lewis actually met at a hotel without promoters media etc and discussed a rematch...Lewis was really for it but was talked out of it by what many believe his Mother of all people who convinced him coming back for one more fight just for the sake of ego would not only be bad for his legacy but there would be no need to go for a fight this tough if his heart was not really into boxing anymore...

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
I wish RJJ would of had Lennox Lewis's attitude.

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
stupid question...would expect us much from fat H
A prime lewis would make vitali wear a mini skirt and refer to him as "daddy"
-
Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
The way Lewis was FLATTENED by Rahman and McCall you cant gaurauntee a win against any legitimate heavy......

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
I don't think its fair to say Lennox was in really bad shape or else Vitali would have absolutely knocked him out with those punches, He is a big puncher, especially back then when he was younger, and he landed some big punches on Lennox.
THere is no denying how much he dominated Lennox early, those weren't competitive rounds except the fact that Lennox was standing up well to his power, besides that Vitali was badly outlanding Lennox. Then Lennox started coming back, he landed some huge punches, I think there it became more competitive, but Vitali was dealing his power just as well. If there wasn't the cut I honestly believe Vitali would have a lost a couple more rounds then with his superior stamina would have either stopped or Lennox are given him a good beating to a UD.
At his best I think Lennox wins a competitive fight against Vitali, The only other guys who fought Lennox with size were completely incompetent at the elite level, but his style like Wladimir was based on being bigger and dominating off the jab. He was more versatile and a better athlete than Wlad, but Vitali took away his biggest assets.

Total Punches
Lewis Klitschko
Landed 102 156
Thrown 222 432
Pct. 46% 36%
Jabs: Lewis Klitschko
Landed 52 77
Thrown 120 240
Pct. 43% 32%
Power Punches
Lewis Klitschko
Landed 50 79
Thrown 102 192
Pct. 49% 41%
I didn't make these up! LOL, but the stats are pretty lop-sided, and the three judges were scoring against the reigning champ. That's why I say Lewis was getting whipped.
Well, those are impressive numbers, but at the fight's end, Lewis didnt show signs of, or look like a man who had been "whipped." Now Vitali on the otherhand... he looked like he had a rough night. So I guess sometimes numbers don't tell the whole story. And I dont mean to be sarcastic, I'm just telling like it is. I'm sure we have all seen the fight many times and have seen how both fighter looked after the fight.
These numbers are fake. Vitali landed 18 shots more than Lennox Lewis the whole fight, av of 3 per round.

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
I honestly think Vitali was a better boxer after the lewis fight and would argue thats when his prime starts. And i think if anyone thinks that a prime Lewis would destroy a Prime Vitali then they really need to let Lennox have his balls back. Im not saying Vitali would win but i think it would be competetive.

It doesnt matter coz a prime Ruiz would of knocked out Lewis in 5 seconds, then Vitali would of fainted as soon as he saw Ruiz and Ruiz would of made his way to the back where he would of proceeded to bitch slap a prime George Foreman ;)

You know it Snakey. Like the banner I made which I showed to John Ruiz at the fight says
RUIZ NUMBER 1
ALI NUMBER 2

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
I wasn't going to post again on this thread because I thought I was beating the horse to death, and we are. But "Fantasy Ann" called the punch stats I posted fake. So I had to go back and find my references and here they are:
Lennox Lewis vs. Vitali Klitschko - Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia
That's from the boxrec boxing encyclopaedia.
Fantasy Ann, where'd you get yours? the Funny Papers? Why post garbage like that?
Also, I found the round 5 punch stats on the HBO video, part 4. Vitali was still out-punching Lewis 27 to 23 in Round 5. I couldn't get the round 6 stats.

Re: Anybody think a Prime Vitali, would've beaten a Prime Lewis?
I think lewis is great, but I wouldn't ride off so quickly saying Vitali doesn't belong. Vitali is a beast IMO. Came at the wrong time. Prime v Prime Vitaly beats, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Mercer, Moorer, Grant, Tua, Ruiz, Botha, Buster douglass, Seldon, Berbick, McCall, Rahman, Bruno, Bowe, HW Spinks... If you're a Tyson fan and can't admit that, then at least one can admit that Vitaly would beat every champion that LEWIS, TYSON, HOLYFIELD all got their belts from prime v prime. Which at least puts him at the dinner table. and Honestly I think between Tyson, holy, lewis and Vitaly. Tyson would be 0-4, Holyfield 1-3, and Lewis or Vitaly would either be 3-1 or 4-0 __________________

I counted them myself. I am a mathematical genius, I don't need to go onto some shitty website and look at the numbers.
I'm like Carol Voderman only I have a better bikini line, and less of a moustache.
Also, for the man-record, Vitali could hit Lennox Lewis all day and all night, Lennox still would not have lost. Now, if John Ruiz would hit Lennox Lewis, Lennox Lewis would be knocked out. This is fact. It's a proven fact which aint been proved yet, and that is called science. You cannot argue with cold hard scientific facts.

LOL Fantasy. I get your drift. You are the Joker.
So I won't get upset and go check my references next time you call me a liar, or ......whatever.
Plus, I watched your video on Fantana.net. Made me laugh.
But, you should have more respect for your elders.
