As for his other diagnosis... Wouldn't be surprised if it's just King orchestrated bullshit to try and press for a rematch, we may never know I guess.
Rhabdo is complex, there's no way to pinpoint if he started the fight with it or developed during the fight from being under conditioned.
Either it's King spun bullshit or his team are incompetent amateurs, neither makes it a valid excuse.
I'd be interesting to know. Rhabdo is also caused by actual trauma/concussive force to the muscles. Maybe the combination of physical exertion and having a massive puncher like Deontay pounding on your arms, shoulders and body for 12 rounds caused it. I was reading about JDS getting it from a UFC fight. Combination of crazy physical exertion and 25 minutes of getting punched and wrestling along the cage.
Either way, I never understood the whole excuse thing. When guys say "ohh I lost that fight because I didn't take it seriously/wasn't in shape/didn't train properly/had to cut too much weight/ect", I think less of them than if they just went out and lost outright.
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
He said he couldn't get off and dehydration will do that to you.
He has a "loose shape" so defination and tone doesn't appear on him.
Today many heavies want to hold as much weight as possible but that will backfire when you need to go the distance with someone thats on the move.
Now we'll see what this young man is all about!! Congrates to Wilder he did better than I expected especially head movement away from outside punches. He held is own inside to a degree and when he tired he stayed away from in coming shots. Good job!

It's like his muscles were wasting away. Quite a shame.

He didn't look "toned" at the weigh in. In fact, he looked a little flappy and smaller. He looked like he lost muscle mass.

Show me a picture of an in shape Stiverne;D
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
Or show us a fight where he clearly performed better than he did the other night. There isn't one! No reason at all to suggest it was an off night, that's how he always fights and he just didn't have an answer for the range and power of Wilder, who also proved himself a capable and superior boxer.

True too. I find it oh so convenient that every fighter seems to have an "off night" when they step up in competition and lose. They'll smash 30 bums and journeymen, but when they fight a legit world class fighter and they aren't able to do the same things to him that they were able to do to the bums, they say "ohh I felt weird, I couldn't get off, I was sick, I was injured, blah blah".
Maybe you just fought someone who was a lot better than your normal competition.
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
Glad Stiverne is okay now, but training is just about all a boxer's job is, particularly if your a belt holder. I can't think of any other professional sport where you get a mulligan for not doing your job correctly.
No interest in an immediate rematch.
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
Not sure what to think of the article on the front page here @ Saddo.
Every other sentence Don King justifies the loss with We're not taking anything away from Deontay, BUT.....
he fought a handicap. Most interesting to me is when they say we thought...he had blood in his urine.
Did they find out if he did?

I can agree with this. Because he always starts late, but it was clear he had no answer for when I thought he would have- around the 7th or 8th round. But, if he did have a condition, then who are we to say he could not turn it up a bit.
I mean, Wilder wasn't even floored. That in itself is something, because I saw Stiverne punch before- and even with his slow, plodding style, Wilder doesn't have a granite chin and punches that floored guys before Stiverne in the past should put Wilder on wobbly street.
This is the thing to me: Wilder was barely fazed. Something had to be wrong- and more than just Stiverne plodding along as he normally does. He didn't have pop.
Take a look at what he did to Ray Austin late- nearly tore his head off. Arreola, one of the better chins in the division, who took sledgehammers from Vitali, got floored the first match and knocked out in the second. But Wilder didn't even faze, and took shots from Stiverne?
Stiverne's punches had to have no steam on them. And it wasn't because of Wilder, it was because something was wrong with Stiverne.

Interesting analogy with Arreola; Question: can a fighter lose their "punch" resistance?
For me I think of Tyson.
1st part of his career- when he got hit, guys I knew would joke & say uh,oh, he done pissed Tyson off, That's Iron in his jaw. But by the time of Danny Williams, he got dropped with shots IMO he would've eaten like skittles.
or John Mugabi took hellatious shots from Haglar, but after that? Guys were dropping him easy.
Could Arreola have been in that position? To where the shots he once took, just cant take them anymore & Stiverne proved it?
I mean you definitely could be on the money- that Sitverne didn't have the pop you were looking for, as I've only seen highlights of him. To me, he cracked Wilder but also he missed wildly & missing takes more out of a fighter than suspected.

Mugabi got stopped by big hitters Norris and G man. Tyson was old and exhausted.

But this was a young-ish champion? Stiverne wasn't over the hill and he didn't have a guy with a granite chin in front of him.

Bullshit. The Ray Austin fight only serves as proof that was a typical performance from Stiverne, watch the first 10 rounds of that fight and get back to me. Wilder was barely fazed because he never totally walked into anything, pretty well every time he got tagged he was backing away and braced for the punch. That tends to produce a much lesser impact than if you are to dive into a punch off balance;)
