I was cheering for Mayweather and I was disgusted by his actions. I also would not laugh if Ortiz had KO'd Mayweather after the butt, I'd be just as pissed off.
How come Ortiz can hit Floyd 2X while he is defenseless and looking away. The kid was sorry he got caught. Floyd never tried hugging him he had his hands on Victors chest. His body language didnt signify he was OK with it, Ortiz assumed he was straight after that and was over compensating because he didnt want to get beat up!! This is boxing and Ortiz looked like a kid in that moment and realized how brutal it could be
He didn't get away with butting and hitting Floyd, he got a point deducted and if it happened again he should have been disqualified.
Floyd absolutely approached him like he was going to hug/touch gloves. As soon as Ortiz was defenseless and Cortez was looking away, he struck. It was within the rules, but an absolutely childish and pathetic move by a great fighter who should be above those things.
Im talking about the moral high road most are taking on this. Ortiz butted and hit a defenseless Floyd who was looking away with the intent on gaining an advantage and was begging for forgiveness ONLY after getting in trouble. His intentions were obvious and Floyd started fighting when the action resumed. He did it to Gatti and to Mosely because the time was in and the action was on. If you look at Floyd his body language was anything but accepting of an apology. He retaliated plain and simple.
Sad part was Ortiz looked happy that the fight was over, weird stuff
Re: Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
It tells the whole story: the gap between Mayweather/Pacquiaio and Ortiz/Berto is great indeed. Very, very great. And i don't see any reason why hard but slow punching Saul Alvarez could do things much better than poor Ortiz.
Only Manny Pacquaio can beat Floyd.

What difference does it make? Ortiz was getting KOed right there if Cortez was watching or not. Surely you understand that?
I do and I even said that, it would have made no difference if he was watching or not... But he waved the fight on and stopped watching it.. What if Floyd had of done a low blow, or a headbutt back in retaliation?.. The ref wouldn't have seen it.. You're there to referee the fight from start to finish.. You wave it on, you gotta be watching what happens...
You stop the fight to seperate fighters and turn to the judges.. Then you return to paying attention to it and start the fight again..
In this case yes, it would have made no difference to the outcome.. But it's incompetence...
So we'll both be right in this case.. I'll settle for that.. ;)

The fact is Joe wasn't a factor.
Re: Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
I been reading twitter and everyone from Dan Rafael, Lou Dibella said Floyd did nothing wrong and had no problems. Dana White is pulling the Fire alarm, Max Kellerman said he was oppurtunistic. Lebron James was making Jokes. Lennox Lewis said when the ref says fight it dosent matter if the other guy looks away, the fighters were instructed to fight not hug. This whole thing is hilarious when you see how the outside world thinks that Ortiz is a retard

I don't see anyone saying that Ortiz didn't do anything wrong, only that he was appropriately punished for it.
Ortiz always looks happy, he was the same way after he quit against Maidana. It's a total facade IMO.
Re: Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Does no one find this funny shit i mean come on people fucker headbutts then hits him after. Then tries hug the guy while action called and gets knocked out in funny matter god people crack me up.
Re: Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Yeah, I think we can at least all agree that Ortiz is as thick as shit.

From what I've seen, most people (myself included) think that by the letter of the law Floyd did nothing wrong. That doesn't change the fact that it was a bitch move.

Its the intent Ortiz had. Tried to illegally gain an advantage to win, Mayweather did the same but stretched it legally yet he is getting scourged unbelievable here. You cant punish somemone who didnt break the rules.

I agree. Mayweather put his gloves up, as that is the 'sporting' thing to do, but had Ortiz looked at his face since the headbutt continuing on to the action resuming it was fairly obviously he wasnt content with an apologetic kiss from ortiz.

And Ortiz was appropriately punished, I don't dispute that.
Mayweather didn't break the rules, but he broke convention. Stuff like what Ortiz was doing happens all the time after a foul, blatant or no, and it's convention for the other fighters to either accept the apology or to refuse but allow his opponent to put his guard back up.
Re: Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Easy work for Floyd tonight, Ortiz was getting beat easy, he cheated several times and was knocked the fuck out like he deserved to be. Good thing for him, Floyd would have brutalized him until he quit again.
