Re: Bets On Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones In Here.
Go Jones i say, my brain says calzaghe but my heart says Jones will win. Ill take a sig bet or name change bet. After all Snakey was one of the pioneers of the name change bets....i got beat by rocky marshmellow, i was Shakey Snakey for a couple of days after tszyu vs hatton, marshmellow asked me to change it back after tszyus speech after the fight. So im up for it.
Re: Bets On Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones In Here.
I will do a name change bet with anyone i want Roy Jones after watching Calzaghe vs Kessler again i think Roy can do it.

You're a disgrace routing against your own countryman
Just like you did with Floyd Mayweather against Ricky Hatton ?
When have I ever wanted a British fighter to lose?
'ROUTING' for means WANTING to win. That's a lot different to objectively thinking somebody will win!!

Dont think Jones has the chin to go to war with anybody.
He was not even willing to stand and fight with Trinidad even though he started out as a light welter.
It could end up with jones running and Calzaghe chasing him around the ring hiting him with flurys of shots.

Even if he is past his prime, it's still Roy Jones, one of the all time greatest fighters in the history of ever.
Nearly all of the great fighters have been able to roll back the years and pull off great wins past their prime, or after the 'experts' wrote them off, it's part of being a great fighter after all and I don't think it's at all fair for people to just shrug and say Jones is shot so a win over him means nothing.
We saw with B Hop a couple weeks ago that there can be plenty of life in these old legends yet and Jones is after all only 3 years older than Joe, and aside from a couple of KO losses early in fights Jones has never been in any ring wars.
Moving up to heavyweight may have taken a toll on his body but it was 4 years or so ago now and I imagine his body composition has stabalised by now.
If Calzaghe wins impressively I want him to credit for it.
 There are more shot fighters out there but his legs are pretty much gone and he just doesn't have that explosiveness anymore.
I mean in what fight since the Ruiz fight has he looked impressive?
I don't get the point of sig or name bets, money's the only bet that matters, but even if he surprises me and does well at times I can't envision him winning.

What has where a fighter comes from have anything to do with boxing ? first off i have never really like Joe Calzaghe's fighting style, where as i always liked RJJ flashy style.
Plus RJJ was one of my hero's growing up, i think its silly just to root for a fighter. Because there from the same country as you just for the sake of it.

Agreed 100%
It's a weird concept - supporting somebody just because they were born on the same bit of land as you. Can't believe that takes presidence over the fighter in general. For example, i don't like Junior Witter much, but he lives near me.
I sincerely hope Roy Jones rolls back the years and puts on a show. My head says Calzaghe will be too busy for him. I think Roy is at that stage where he is happy just to be headlining, where Calzaghe is desperately trying to stay undefeated. Of course, Jones could be much more determined than we all think. I know he isn't the fighter he once was, but even a 50% Roy Jones is better than most of other light-heavys out there.

RJJ will always be my favorite fighter of this era no matter if he wins or loses. And Marquez, Barrera, lost when i was here did they not ? did you see me dumping them as a fan ?
Secondly the first part Memphis all i have to say is this
Re: Bets On Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones In Here.

Re: Bets On Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones In Here.
I will bet anyone on Saddo's that what ever the result, i will Hate Calzaghe as much after the fight as i did before the fight.

Re: Bets On Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones In Here.

Kelly Pavlik got added to my list when he beat Bronco McKart, and he is still one of my favorites.
As for RJJ the first fight i watched of his was against Lou Del Valle, when he got dropped i wasn't overly impressed to be honest. Then i caught his fight with Richard Hall i really enjoyed that fight, and his skill set was amazing.
I started following him all the time after that. Then got his career set and when i watched him i was thinking how the hell could he do that ? especially the way he put his hands behind his back against Glen Kelly, i'd never seen anything like that before.
