'ROUTING' for means WANTING to win. That's a lot different to objectively thinking somebody will win!!
What has where a fighter comes from have anything to do with boxing ? first off i have never really like Joe Calzaghe's fighting style, where as i always liked RJJ flashy style.

Plus RJJ was one of my hero's growing up, i think its silly just to root for a fighter. Because there from the same country as you just for the sake of it.
