Re: Mora vs Pavlik in June or July
It's going to be extremly uncomfortable watching spazzy mora try and quirk and wiggle his way around pavlik for 10 or 12 rounds, or till pavlik hits him. I'll be honest i don't like mora but i don't hate the guy either i guess the best way to put it is the guy just kinda bugs me anyhow mora will try to repeat some of b-hops tricks but the main problem will be that mora is no hopkins, i just don't see mora hitting pavlik hard enough enough times to do anything but irritate him. And i'd rather pay for my kids to watch the jonas bros than pay for this fight unless it has a killer undercard or second site fight. I just don't see this as a competetive match-up. If i were mora i'd rather have fought taylor back then or now.
Re: Mora vs Pavlik in June or July
Does Pavlik get too much shit compared to Abraham?
I mean look at Abraham's record on boxrec, its one long underwhelming blah. Dude has fought the who's who of mediocre middleweights and now he's fighting Lajuan Simon. Yay. I know he called out Pavlik but I don't know how interested his promoters are.
Now I know there are extenuating circumstances, as an American with a bigger name Pavlik has the ability to get bigger fights more easily than Abraham, say the Hopkins fight, so he should be fighting better people. Which he has.
Bottom line with Pavlik is unless he takes some kind of control of his career, Arum is gonna feed him a long line of cup cakes and then maybe eventually take a big fight down the road.

I actually think you have to taunt a little bit in the ring nowadays to get ya fired up. He doesn't belittle fighter's is what I really wanted to say. Shows the utmost respect before and after maybe a little shit talking in the ring but there isn't nothing wrong with that. Also we have a lot of hater's of Pavlik all of a sudden since B-Hop beat him that's the need to put him down and not vice versa.
Why don't most of these people ask why hasn't Abraham fought outside of Germany except for 2 fight's. Switzerland and SEMINOLE FL ??? (
Don't get me wrong I am actually in the next few years moving to that exact location Seminole Florida getting a little sick of this weather in Philly I need some sunshine.) Ask why Pavlik doesn't care who he fight's and
Abraham hasn't called Pavlik's name. I think their going about this the right way and by the end of the year or this time next year there will be a unification.

Pavlik will dismantle, destroy and completely beat up sergio for about 6-7rounds until team mora decides there boy has had enough!!
Yeah I really can't see anything Mora can do to beat Pavlik
Have you missed the last few weeks? The Sauerland people are desperately trying to make the fight its Arum & Pavlik's people who're ducking it. Abraham wants to make this fight before he can't make 160 anymore as a win will also help his standing when he goes up to 168. I'd be rooting for Pavlik if they fought, but don't act like it ain't Kelly who's dodgin the fight

I'm as critical of Abraham's choice of opposition as anyone, but traveling to Miranda's backyard to give him the rematch is nothing to rip on him for. Also, he recently called out Pavlik, I posted the article on here.
As for Mora, I'm one of the few who like him, I'll be cheering for him, but I don't really see any way he beats Pavlik. He showed a good chin against Forrest in the rematch, but I think Pavlik will catch him lunging in and stop him at some point. I just don't see any way Mora can win. He's doesn't have the footwork of Hopkins, nor does he have a solid defense or the power to both Pavlik.
I must have missed it. Seems to me after the Rubio fight Pavlik said "HE WILL FIGHT ANYONE". That hardly seems to me that he is running. He has fought B-Hop and Jermain Taylor IMO much better than Abraham. What the hell would Kelly say no for unless it's for next to nothing in money or to fight in Germany.

I don't think Pavlik would refuse to fight anyone really, but I'm sure Arum wants to make as much money as possible and putting him in with Abraham (a relative unknown in the States) might jeopardize that.

I'm not even going to "cover" myself and say that i wouldn't be surprised if Sergio pulled something out, because i really don't ever see that happening. I think sergio can make this fight competetive in the early rounds, but his lunging style could really hurt him. If Kelly catches him ONCE when sergio is on the way in, then he's done.
Sergio doesn't have the experience or the footwork to take down kelly. For someone who can't hurt their opponent, he would need to fight on the outside and score, and i can't see that happening for 12 rounds.
Sergio does have a good chin and reasonable lateral movement though.
If he chooses to trade Pavlik will mow him down to a late round stoppage, if he fights cute though, Kelly may struggle.

I heard from Sergio earlier today, and he let me know that he was in Vegas yesterday, and he came to terms with, and signed off on fighting Pavlik at the end of June or July, in Atlantic City.
They are just waiting for Pavlik and his team to sign off on the deal, which will supposedly happen next week.
I'm just really pissed off, because Arum has been saying for weeks that Kelly's next fight will be here in Cleveland, and now the rat b@stard went and changed sites on me. It would have been so perfect for me to have Sergio come here to fight.
I found out afterwards, that Arum is possibly thinking of doing another split site PPV, with the other main event coming out of Mexico. Which sounds to me, that Arum is lining up a fight for Margacheato in Mexico. I'll try to get more on that from Sergio this weekend. I hope that's not true, because I will never support Margacheato ever again, and it sucks that he will be on the same card as Sergio and Pavlik. I'll have a hard time with that one.
Plus, if it's true about it being Margacheato, I think he would be a complete dumbass to thumb his nose at the California Commission. I don't think they would be all too happy to reinstate him if he does. Which actually, might be a good thing, IMO, because I don't think one year is enough for a man who has no regard for the health and safety of another human being.
Obviously, I'm nervous about this fight, yes I'm friends with, and will always support Sergio, but I'm not blind to his limitations. I know he'll never knock Kelly out, but I think his awkward style will give Kelly some problems. Sergio has been wanting this fight for a long time, so I think he just might rise to the occasion, and do a lot better than you guys think he will.
It's a shame that a lot of you guys don't like him, because I know, that if you ever got the chance to talk to him, and get to know him, you would really like him. He really is a very down to earth and humble guy.
So, come on guys, get it out of the way now. :p
I'll have to send an email to Leftylee, and laugh at him, because he can't stand Sergio, and now since he asked Saddo to ban him for 6 weeks, he can't come in here and hate on him. ;D
I've liked Mora since the contender and felt he'd be a world champ one day. Which he did when he fought Vernon Forrest. I knew he'd lose when he came to the rematch overweight though. Im guessing 154 is too small for him to fight consistantly at and yet he seems to be disadvantaged at 160.
So saying all that, the guy seems willing to fight anyone and doesn't ever back down from challenges. Goes from Vernon Forrest to Kelly Pavlik. Takes guts, and there are fighters who get more praise then Mora yet wouldn't take the same kind of risk. So him fighting Pavlik should bring him more respect.
I'm on boat with VD, Mora winning this fight wouldnt surprise me. If he does what Hopkins did and box Pavlik without giving him a chance to set his feet and circling away from the right hand then he could beat him.
Pavlik since winning that title hasn't really been the "Ghost" Pavlik he was when he was coming up. He takes a lot more punches and seems to rely on his power a lot more now, that will be his downfall if he loses to Mora.
It should be a good fight. I'll go with Mora Split Decision in that one, if he can take Pavlik's right hand which he will undoubtably take somewhere in the match.

Here's a good write-up about this fight, that was written by a friend of mine.

I agree with the second part of that paragraph, but "doesn't ever back down from challenges"!? Simply not true: remember when he backed out of the Taylor fight?

hmm, okay.. i'll give you that.. Sergio has a "good" chin, considering his opposition.. I totally see Kelly struggling in the early rounds.. As i said the fight will be competitive early because of Sergio's speed. He fights in spurts though, and not that he won't be able to muster up the stamina to fight at Kelly's pace, but i don't see him working 3 min of every round like he will need to. He will make Kelly look flat-footed, and he may drop a few good counters in with his lateral movement, but too much is against him in this fight. If Kelly can take a beating of flush shots from BHOP and still come forward, Sergio will need a bat to stop Kelly. re-iterating my previous post, Sergio doesn't have the experience nor footwork that he needs to win. Bhop laid the blueprint down, but you need to be world class to pull that off again, and i don't put sergio in that category.

I fully agree that Mora couldn't hold B-Hops jock strap, I think he presents different issues though style wise. I also think a large part of Mora's game plan is holding we'll have to see how much the ref allows that.

If Mora is able to effectively hold, then kudos to him and shame on Pavlik, because Pavlik usually seems pretty skilled at keeping range and not falling in.

Keep in mind that Pavlik never holds.. i've never seen him tired, besides the Bhop fight, and that was really more of a destroyed will than tired. Pavlik will push him away and look for any opening.. whether it's mora's shoulders or forearms, anything.
Re: Mora vs Pavlik in June or July
I'm disappointed to be honest. Abraham, Pavlik & Sturm have got to stop picking poor opponents and bring back some meaning to their titles otherwise people are gunna stop giving a shit about them. Lets stop the promotional excuses and make 2 of these 3 fight each other already!
Re: Mora vs Pavlik in June or July
Mora has good constant movement which creates odd angles, could give Kelly early fits. Lets keep it real though Kelly is gonna skin the snake if this fight happens. Diane is right that it SUCKSSSS if its not in cleveland. Alot of promises ARUM huh. Can't hate to much he did keep his word and brought a fight to the YO. Guess I'll start booking my spot in Vegas.

Thats exactly what e will do, and your right he doesnt have anywhere near the firepower B-Hop had at 170, or even 160. Kelly will happily take one to land one if he has to and he wont be stopped in his tracks like he was aginst Hop.
