Cotto vs Mayweather in Madison Square Garden. Fingers crossed.
No way will they fight in MSG, for the same reason Pac & Hatton didn't fight in Wembley. The money the casinos put up is just too valuable. That's why the big fights will continue to be there. The MGM Grand could give away all the tickets as comps & probably still make a tidy profit from what people spend in the casinos & shops throughout the day.
Anyway, according to this whoever wins it appears Arum simply doesn't want to do the deal with Mayweather. In fact, he doesn't even want to bother trying to negotiate.
Pacquiao-Mayweather Unlikely For 2010, Says Arum - Boxing News
Because Mayweather will be difficult to negotiate with his trash talks.
They want Mayweather but Mayweather seems to be avoiding Pac. Before Mayweather fought MArquez, team Pacquaio including Arum was asking Mayweather to wait for just one day so Mayweather vs Pac could happen. MAyweather instead declared his fight vs Marquez on the same day Pac vs Hatton was weighed in for their fight (hope my memory does not fail me on this).
This is the reason why Arum is doubting Pac vs Mayweather would happen.
In case Pac demolishes Cotto impressively, Mayweather won't be fighting Pac for sure.... and we know why...:-\

Because he is bigger, faster, a better counter puncher has better defense, hits harder and has better timing then Marquez?

The small guy was good enough to beat Pacquiao twice ;)

Not in my book. Pacquaio knocks JMM many times and that was enough to convince the judges that he won. Styles make fights and power changes the stories of fights.
Besides, if Pacquiao fights now the JMM that fought MAyweather ( at the same weight), I'll be bold in my prediction that JMM will not survive the 12 rounds.
And if you are honest to yourself, you will agree with me.

He didn't avoid Pac, he took a fight with Marquez first. Do you think all the negotiations that went into the JMM fight all happened on that one day?
Arum doubts it because he wants PBF to earn as little as possible. He also wants to protect his investments. The fact he's talking about putting Pac in with JMM, who PBF just decisively beat, says it all about who is ducking who (no not Pac, Arum). The fact you'd try to defend a piece of shiit promoter like Arum, just because you can't bare anything that doesn't cover Manny in complete, undying adulation is pathetic.

You've named one guy who was smaller than Mayweather when they fought.

He has made Cotto drop 2lbs to make 145 and has somehow got the world title on the line. What more does he want, next it will be Cotto is only alowed to throw 10 punches around?

Pac is still a natural 135 lber imo. Cotto agreed to put his belt on the line for his biggest pay day. C'mon now, everybody knows that.
Btw folks. Great move by Roach. Another psychological terror from him :). 'Worked on DLH with the hand wrap, and Hatton with the ref (constant clinching).

It waz Pac's headbutt that got him cut.
Pac cuts his opponents when he lunges in...he cut Marquez both of the fights. And Pac has cut many more people.

I don't remember Pac damaging JMM with the headbutt in their first fight. But no doubt there was a headclash in the rematch. Pac cut JMM twice that night, one from a punch, and another one from accidental headbutt. southpaw vs conventional stance man. Sometimes it's hard to avoid.
And oh..
Pac got cut in Pac-EM 1. Pac basically fought Morales with one eye most of the rounds.

Marquez beats any version of Pacquiao. He was just in there with Floyd Mayweather, if you think Pacquiao has the skill to out time, and outbox Marquez then you're willing to think he won't survive 12 rounds.
Fact is Marquez beat the "inexperienced" Pacquiao and the "new and improved with a right hook" Pacquiao too. There's a reason Pacquiao wanted none of a third fight with Marquez.

I agree with you on this. I think it's just one of those things where Freddie just wants to stir things up a bit and to make the ref more mindful of low blows.
