Max Power
Minimum Effort
You just have your Rose tinted specs on backwards.
Arse forward walking without paying due care to what's behind you.
It's not clever and nobody is impressed jim Lampley and Larry merchant are full of Krap and Stewart RIP was talking about his own fighter FFS.
Here is Manny on Joe
"I think the intensity that he had when he turned professional was really much on a kind of level very similar to a Mike Tyson. Joe might have been even a little bit more, in some ways, better than Mike to some degree. That’s a question, Mike was more of a devastating one punch guy, but anyway, I think that his image is always going to be tremendously tarnished because of his biggest fights he lost and he never will get the recognition he should. His whole legacy is all tied up with the one word “Ali” more so than even Foreman."

Yeah well I'm not interested in your abuse but I'll give you that Manny (RIP) just liked to talk a abit of BS at times so we'll forget about his statements.
In fact that's why I don't put much stock in heresay usually.
So I guess I wont have to hear about how Roach claims Louis is the best puncher of all time again either I hope.
And one more thing, how DARE you say Merchant is full of crap! That guy popularised boxing more than any other commentator.

Nah, Don Dunphy, the Voice of Boxing, did way more than Larry Merchant ever did.

So Max, wrong again.
You will get something right one day.
Bless. :)

Merchant is full of Krap. The guy is an embarrassment to the sport. Born in 1931 the same year as Don King, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. It is no coincidence that they are all weird. Commentators today have the benefit of top nutrition, the ability to check facts and learn from history, new fangled inventions and bigger mouths. Unlike Larry most of them are actually sober too.
So now because Manny disagrees with you he is full of BS? Joe Frazier was a great fighter and an even greater man. Lennox Lewis was a great fighter too with a lot more physical advantages. One does not exclude the other.
Re: 03 Wladimir Klitchksco VS Joe Frazier
I never meant Manny was always FOS. And sure Frazier was a great boxer and a great bloke too.
I simply just don't think he'd be able to beat virtually any of Wladimir's opponents let along Wladimir himself.
Yes, I would definitely back the HW version of Mormeck against Frazier! No question.
And I grew up watching boxing with Larry, I find him amusing and knowledgable and think he brings a lot of entertainment to the sport.
The ratings would not be nearly as high without him. By comparison, Kellerman is a flop!

Hmm... not so fast. There's just one tiny, little detail you left out.....
Foreman wasn't afraid to get hit... and he could take a decent punch.
Wlad, especially early Wlad, was scared shitless of getting hit... and had/has the punch resistance of a wet paper bag.
Advantage: Frazier

Your kidding right?
Wladimir never faced an opponent as small as Frazier and he faced several opponents with as little 200+ experience early on in his career and he KO'd every single one of them within a few rounds! Does that mean anything?
Tell me something, when did the young, prime version of Foreman, the 220lb version, ever face an opponent as hard punching as Wladimir's opponents? Never! The hardest hitting opponent that Foreman faced was Ron Lyle and old Ron wasn't really a hard puncher by today's standards.
And he knocked Foreman down several times and almost out! Kind of reminiscent of Samuel Peter don't you think!
He was also dropped by featherfists!
None of this is relevant anyway because Frazier would not even land a single meaningful punch against Wladimir.
Re: 03 Wladimir Klitchksco VS Joe Frazier
Earnie Shavers hit harder than them, and he was 6', 210 pounds.

Foreman did not fight Earnie Shavers.
And Shavers did not hit as hard as Wladimir's hard punching opponents. Obviously he would have hit harder than say Byrd and Chambers because he committed everything to it.
Shavers shows definite drop in knock out power the heftier his opponents got.
I think he could be considered the hardest puncher of the cruiserweight division maybe but not of HW. Against 200+ HW's his KOratio is in the 60 odd percentile, that's nothing special compare the the 70-80 odd for most power punchers. And against opponents the size of the average modern HW today, Shaver's KO ratio drops below Chris Byrd.
Summary: Shavers is dangerous mainly to bums, which he mainly fought, and cruiserweights which he also mainly fought.
The only time Shavers ever wasted a natural HW with a good record to my recollection was KEn Norton, a renowned glass jaw. Not impressive!

Definitely agree with this one. Shavers get so overrated but one thing is clear..
Shavers is NOT the hardest HW puncher of all-time... that's total bs

There are couple of modern HWs who hits harder than Shavers .. for one, I have no doubt in my mind that Wilder's right is more damaging than anything shavers can throw..
We have to take the size of these two fighters and their oppositions into consideration when gauging their punching power.. shavers was 6ft which is tiny by todays standards.. there is no possible way that a 6ft powerpuncher can generate more muster their shots than a 6"6 power hitter who is able to get a lot more leverage on his punches.
Wilder's overall size and the leverage he gets on his punches is something Shavers can only dream of having..
Wilder is a harder puncher than shavers..

Tyson was under 6 foot and he hit harder than Wilder.

I think Wilder is undoubtedly strong but you've got to look at the opponents he's faced being piss poor which makes him look much better. For example Hughie Fury who hasn't much power at the moment recently knocked out Matthew Greer faster than Wilder did last year. Is he as powerful as being made out?
