Yea i am not huge fan of it but shit i can't act like they don't exist just because i have not seen them. I mean thats means all they did does not matter just because i did not see them fight. For me being the Heavyweight champion of the world is greatest achievement in boxing. Thats also the reason I have the upper part of the top 10 atg heavies in my list but thats just how i rank shit lol what can i say.

everyone gets old, and roy made the mistake of fucking his body up as he got old, that caused him to get cloked and never recover from that damage, but appreciate the man for what he has brought us.

Yeah? And where exactly are Jones' Hagler, Duran, Benitez and Hearns?

Um, HELLO? Jones had 20 pounds on each guy! Jones would likely have been carried out had he fought Foster, Spinks, Johnson or Ezzard.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
He doesn't have them just going off ability i guess but shit i mean Leonard had just as much power and speed then Jones. He also had better chin and beat better people i mean resume anyhow.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
imo jones would make haggler look amateurish
-
Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
Roy relied on his reflexes, Roy got older, Roy slowed down, Roy got hit.
Mystery over.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
"Kellerman has said on air numerous times that had roy retired after beating Ruiz he would have easily been considered the best ever"
This - should have retired after the Ruiz fight - on top nothing more to prove.

James Toney and BHOP would beat all of them too. And Jones would kayo Hearns, duran, and benitez. Possibly even leonard. Only one I'd pick to go the distance and lose a wide decision is hagler. But at 160-168 Jones power was maxed, and was better than all of theirs so he may even stop him too.

Yeah right. Foster would look like percy harris in the ring with jones. Spinks would get kayoed. Johnson and Ezzard..... I laugh at that.
Remember back in 1968 when bob beamon took th elong jump record from 27 to 29 feet complete bypassing 28feet? When remember when LT came and made a quatum leap of the linebacker position?
That's prime RJJ to boxing. He's the Micheal Jordan of the sport. So fast that he could go his entire career without using a jab. Say that out loud a few times to get a understanding of just how incredible that is.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
I think Jones best weight was super middle but after beating Toney there was little challenge left so he grew into the light heavyweight division. Whilst I do not think he was the greatest light heavy ever, I think he was the best boxer I have ever seen, better than Tyson, Whitaker, JCC, Mayweather, Tito, B Hop, Pac Man....

Marvin Hagler Amateurish??????? Yeah like that ever happened.
I dobt Roy Jones could ever have made 160 on the day of a fight anyway. He'd have been goingagainst Michael Spinks.

That's utter nonsense. Roy faced TWO top tier fighters in his heydey. TWO! Michael Jordan? LOL!!!!!!!!!

I can only assume by this you mean that he would have had Hagler using all the correct amateur techniques, turning over his punches & mixing well to the head & body to win. Because you can't seriously be suggesting that Marvin Fuckin' Hagler would be made to look like a mug as he was in his professional career by absolutely nobody!
-
Marvin was no technical slouch but if he stayed true to himself then inevitably Marvins chin would had to of been tested by Roy like it'd never been tested before. I'm not sayin Roy would win but I'm saying Marvin would have to speculate to accumilate and he might of ended up eating more than he could swallow.
Having said that, I'm only speaking about the front end. Marv was a rock and may have just opted to blast right throug Roy untill the job was done!

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying in my previous post that he couldn't beat him, I just personally feel he wouldn't. I know he only had one hand blah blah etc etc, but he never even seemed to hurt Hopkins when they first fought. Hopkins has a hell of a chin but it's not a Marvin Hagler chin that took straight bombs off Hearns, Mugabi & Roldan like they were nothing. Roy made the MW limit very few times & there's a possibility that he may not have been as strong there as he was at 168 & 175.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
He didn't push himself when he was at the peak of his physical abilities. he regrets it so much he keeps fighting on trying to prove himself after it is too late. That, and money issues are eating at him.
He really shouldn't get a license to fight anymore. He very well could be permanently and immediately damaged in the ring. I don't want to see that because I don't wish it upon anyone. Moreover, if it occurs, it will be a major story in the sports world. Former big name fighter that people know, was just put into a coma in a fight (or worse).

Only because old people keep passing down their opinions of who's great and who's not. I watched all of their fights and I saw nothing spectacular about hagler or hearnns, and don't get me started on the panamanian bum compactor. It's like what PBF said about gatti-ward. Just because you get a good fight out of two c+ fighters doesn't make them great. All those guys did was fight each other. I mean if they're the greatest on each others resume erase them from those resumes and who else do they have that's so great? I think its pretty clear that RJJ beat more top ranked and title holders than any of them. Which is more than beating guys who never had any alphabet trinket. People say Roy has a glass jaw because he was kayoed by men that walk around much larger than him, but duran was smashed by hearns and nothing about his glass jaw. And his heart? He fucking quit on the stool and wasn't taking damage just getting out foxed? And This guy is an all time great? GTFOH....
James Toney and BHOP would beat hagler, hearns, and duran. SRL stood the best chance because he was actually better than them all, but RJJ would have smashed his ass too p4p.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
Lol no fucking way pound for pound Roy beats Leonard his chin wouldn't hold up. Now if were taking real life then be pretty fucking hard because Roy was a life time Lhw almost and Leonard was a welterweight.

Exactly what mean.... Roy was never hurt, and took very flush punches, (rare) but he did, when he was at 160-168. And p4p RJJ was faster and hit harder than leonard. Hell not even p4p in real life even being larger than SRL he was faster than him. Now a bigger man faster than the smaller man and with more power. p4p RJJ would kick the shit out of SRL.

Re: Roy Jones, where did it all go wrong?
Well yea because he have a good 20 pounds on the dude in real life man. Also i feel that Leonard could out box Roy think you over doing a tad on Roy i mean i watch him nothing tells me he destroys Leonard.

Aside from Toney, who he should get full credit for getting in his head, Jones did very little at 168. Some terrible showcase bouts due to revolving rankings, edit* and bs mandatories* once he got that record contract from HBO. He should have tested himself and demanded a Eubank-Benn-Nunn....yeh yeh I know but he was superman.

And nothing suggests that leonard would outbox roy, who was a super ring general.
