Re: Pacquiao vs. Marquez III - Saturday fight/chat thread
I'm sure some of the people who wanted Pac to win will play this out to be a close fight and understandable decision. I just want to know where the logical case is for Pac in this fight. The first 2 fights I always kept my mouth closed because they realistically could have went to either fighter so it gives the judges a lot of discretion. No robbery in those. But this fight JMM clearly outboxed Pac and had him whiffing and frustrated. Even Roach told Pac he was behind. Can even the biggest Pac boy agree/lie with Pac winning 8 rounds? Well, in the end we'll get our usual arguments and the people who saw Pac winning will keep their stance and while this time JMM really did get robbed and has a right to place one of those shirts on Pac, Roach, Arum, and the rest of the team. Tonight boxing proved it really is business before anything.

Unfortunately I had a choppy/shitty stream so it was hard for me to see the punches landing, i'll have to watch the replay next week.
In view of how this 3rd fight seems to have turned out, there definitely needs to be a 4th fight. I know one thing, I was completely wrong about Marquez' not being competitive with Pac, and don't mind admitting it. It just goes to show, in boxing you never know, that's why we keep watching.
The Pac haters will be out in force tomorrow. :-X Night folks..

Tonight? Boxing has always been more about money than fairness. It always will be.
Re: Pacquiao vs. Marquez III - Saturday fight/chat thread
now that I read you all, I feel more normal to think that Pacquiao really lost to a great counter-puncher and a top shape 38 years veteran. I thought Pac would plow through Marquez with ease, wasn't the case. Tonight, Pacquiao looked awful, to the point where I wonder how come he was so lousy where he did destroy Margarito, Cotto and cie.
Re: Pacquiao vs. Marquez III - Saturday fight/chat thread
My dad who is a pac fan told me that Pac would walk straight through JMM. I told him that it wouldnt be the case. I said Mosley, Delahoya, Cotto, Clottey and Margarito all stood back and let manny fire his combos and just tried to survive where as JMM will move around, interupt Pacs timing with right hands and force him to re adjust every couple of seconds. Thats exactly what happened. Pac cant beat JMM coz JMM is fearless and will stick to his gameplan no matter what and if it involves surviving an onslaught he says bring it on.
Fuck the judges, JMM won that fight....even my dad is disappointed coz he knows Pac lost.
Re: Pacquiao vs. Marquez III - Saturday fight/chat thread
Alright back from da bar, Alvarez/Prescott was a great fight. I love any display of heart like that, Prescott still trying to shock opponents and get another Khan style win.
Don't know if you watched the yahoo undercards, but I was happy with my local boy Benavidez getting a solid showing.
As for the main event I agree that JMM should have pressed more in the 12th, but I had him winning 7-5 when all was said and done. I think Pac got the benefit of the doubt for landing one shot at the end of rounds that Marquez has controlled. I think Pac was rarely an effective aggressor and Marquez was the General with his countering. Taking Pac/Mayweather off the table was never an option though, unless JMM got a KO.

After watching Marquez struggle with a shot Juan Diaz and then fight only one round before tonight, I thought Pacquiao would walk through him as well.
Marquez put on a spectacular performance and I feel horrible that he has to go home with another undeserved loss.

Did we all over-estimate Pac? Don't get me wrong he is a top P4P fighter and Marquez is his kryptonite, but he hasn't been facing elite boxers.
Cotto is a good boxer, but not great and he isn't on the level of Marquez in terms of skills. Clottey-the turtle shell defense. He almost never punches when you do or counters quickly. Margarito-the zombie punch eating machine. Hatton-a rough and rugged fighter but he had technical issues. Roach pointed out that he cocked his hand back in a certain way before he threw certain punches and you could time that easily if you really studied tape. he was right. Mosley-whatever he had left got beat out of him by Mayweather.
And all those guys couldn't deal with Pac's speed. Marquez is able to.
Re: Pacquiao vs. Marquez III - Saturday fight/chat thread
Manny won... Marquez could have pressed the fight in the late rounds and won a decision but he didn't... Bring on GAYWEATHER!
