I don't see JMM cashing any huge checks.
The biggest name in mexican boxing today ....Canelo...sold only $350,000 ppv buys against another Mexican.
Those are Mayweather /Baldomir numbers.
Still waiting on the numbers from the Lara fight.

At the ass end of his career.
Hell....
Broner cashing 7 figure checks and he's not mexican...or 40 years old..So is Andre Ward.
Mexicans aren't the only fighters people want to see by longshot.
The aggressive Mexican style, Sir. He was saying people want to see the aggressive, come forward style epitomized by many Mexican fighters. He was not saying Mexican fighters are the most popular, the highest paid, or the best.

GGG is a phenom. Let us appreciate him while he's in his prime and rising. He comes to fight, in shape, fights clean, doesn't trash talk, boast or complain.
And he destroys people. Very tough people.
What's not to like?

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
I didn't understand why the idiot FinitoDinamita used to slag GGG off , to me he is one of the most efficient fighters in the game , he would murder Cotto inside 3 also.
Someone said it before GGG = CYBORG.

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
Make GGG-Mayweather or GGG-Cotto. Get it in. GGG looks real.

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
If you set odds, how would set GGG-Mayweather?

Maybe he took the KO loss hard.
And GGG vs Mayweather? why even mention that?
GGG ain't moving down and I know Mayweather ain't moving up.
GGG is going to go up to S Middle sooner rather than later..
Let me say this, if Groves can give Froch a hard time, GGG will kill him.

GGG is the consensus best at 60; Mayweather is the consensus best at 154. It makes perfect sense. Mayweather is the cash cow. GGG the KO artist. Perfect foil?

Oscar, Duran and Leonard had the balls to fight the best middleweight of their era. Does Floyd?
No, no he doesn't.

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
Floyd would take Cotto at 160lb but not GGG. I would not blame him either.

It's just my thing, I am never into these count outs when the fighter is up. If he was down and then only up at 8 and falling all over the place, but Geale wasn't at the completely drunk stage to me. Shaken sure, hurt sure, but a few seconds to go and a minute to take a break and then maybe call it quits if his team thinks he is done.
Going on the other round he probably thought he had two minutes left.

Exactly why this "cleaning out middleweight" idea should be junked. MW is a morgue, GGG should move up to fight better fighters.
Ugh and he says he wants 160. Time wasted.
Cotto is the only big name left at middleweight with a decent resume and I don't see him making it twelve rounds either. Maybe before the wars and I stress maybe, but not now. Quillin is there as well, but he hasn't even been in the ring with someone the level of Geale, let alone GGG. Just the fact that Quillin is ranked so high with his level of opposition says more about the mw division than any words can.
If Cotto was GGGs size it would be interesting. I'd pick GGG anyway. But Cotto started at 140, he's too small. Quillen is being hidden for a reason. The good fights are at 168. The most money is probably a Cotto fight, Canelo fight or Chavez Jr. I can understand him taking those fights, it's business. But short of getting a payday fight it's time to fight his quality of fighter. He's proven he wrecks guys that are beneath him, it's time to see who all is beneath him. Is Froch beneath him? Ward?
I think he stops Froch. A GGG/Ward fight is probably the fight I most want to see.
He's 32 and he's thinking about available paydays for what's left of his career. Cotto would be a huge PPV event. So would Alvarez. Both of those fights are infinitely easier and bigger paydays than Ward or Froch. Although definitely Ward and Froch are mouthwatering fights for us to see.
I'd like to see Floyd fight Golovkin more than anything else. Rather than Floyd fighting endless second rate Haymon clients I'd love to see those two fight each other.
I'm a big Floyd fan(the fighter not the person) and I don't think at his age he could hang with GGG. He doesn't have the legs anymore. Add in the size difference and GGG walks right over him. But that's as it should be when you consider each fighters natural size. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see it but I don't think it's a great fight.

Poor Geale with a nasty cut in a super long first round, just the worst start possible. He had a rough night.

No-hopers are now suddenly "tough people".....anybody else would be accused of cherry-picking.

He hasn't the skills or balls.

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
GGG is without a doubt the pound for pound best fighter on the planet. His power is freakish, his ring generalship is superb and his attitude is next to none. Noone at 154 or 160 beats him or comes close to it. I wish Floyd wasnt such a bitch and would fight him.

look at the nuthuggery.
I wish GG wasn't such an old bitch and would fight Ward.
Floyd has taken risks by moving up since he was 21.
GG is 32 and has yet to move up once.
Floyd is required to "take risks" but GG is allowed to fight in a long dead division.
Cotto's ONE fight at 160 is better than anything GG has done so far.

I just say it as it is. When was the last time Floyd blew away a top 5 fighter in 3 rounds? When has Andre Ward done that. They just aint good enough. Heck Mayweather struggles with straight forward plodders like Maidana, hes done washed up and should retire. Ward may as well retire too giving his activity and the lack of interest anyone has in his career.
-
Thing is, for all Floyd's talents and skills, exceptional punching power is not one of them so it's very unlikely he can ever blow anyone out in 5 rounds especially since he seems to have found the max weight class in which he can be effective. GGG has exceptional power but hasn't moved up yet, so the comparison isn't fair.

Maidana is a better fighter than anybody GG has ever faced.
Let's see GG move up a couple of weight classes(like Floyd has done) and win a title WITHOUT A TUNEUP.
Maidana had a title.
What did Adama have?
What did Geale have?
What did Stevens have?
How about Mackling ....
What did he have..???
I can do that all day;D
Adama is a worse plodder than Maidana and he was catching GG..............CLEAN.
So was Geale.
Floyd is fighting better comp on a higher level and for bigger stakes than Golovkin.
A slow guy on Adama's level, couldn't hit Floyd with rice at a wedding..
Golovkin got hit a LOT last night...that's never a good sign...power is good to have but skills pay bills.
Geale and Adama lasted long enough to expose major flaws in GG's game....his defense has more holes than an oil field in Iraq.
No wonder they stopped saying they'll fight ANYBODY from 154 to 168..
Geale would have to fight Cotto 6 times to land that many punches.

Exactly
GG hasn't moved up yet to see if his skills hold up.
Floyd has....Many times.

He's not even sparking guys out.
dude last night got off the canvas in plenty time and quit.
Watch some Julian Jackson fights if you want to see sparked out.
Andre Ward single-handedly stopped GG's camp from saying he'll fight ANYBODY from 154 to 168.;D

"He's easy to hit"
"When is he going to move up"

NONE of GG's opponents held a title when they fought him
NOT ONE.
Maidana earned his title shots...unlike Adama.
What did he do to deserve a title shot??

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
Shame the other pretenders dont sack up. Oh there's no money in it. What a crock of shit. That is semantics for I dont want none of that killer. Its as dumb a concept as placing the quality of a fight on the shoulders of ppv sales. They are not mutually inclusive, nor have they ever been. I'll say it again. If the Kazak was American he'd be the second coming of Marvin Hagler even though he's unfortunately white.

Re: Golovkin-Geale fight thread
Rigo is my fav fighter. I think hed beat Floyd with a big weight disadvantage and guess what hes black. One of my most hated fighter is Froch, hes a cunt, hes overrated and hes white. My bias for a particular skin colour really shines through.

You can't call Froch overrated while giving Golovkin a lap-dance..lol
If Froch is overrated then GG is just a mirage.
Froch fights at a higher level of competition than does Golovkin.

Floyd...an American.....gets shitted on for his resume despite having a record that embarasses GG's on every level.
If GG were American of Mayweather's hue....he'd be CRUCIFIED by the media and fans.
Floyd is held to HIGH standards
GG is held to LOW standards
by holding American fighters to a higher standard ya'll are admitting we have the best fighters at the same time;D;D;D
