I'm glad you kept Huago Ruiz rated :)
Selby over Santa Cruz? I guess I can see an argument for it
What's up with Terrence Crawford. He is usually fighting every three months but he seems to quiet lately. Great work on the updates
Thanks @Master I really appreciate it. The goal is to eventually be the standard and an easy reference for the best fighters in the sport.
I must admit it is very close. Selby's win over an undefeated titlist (Gradovich) gave him the edge over Santa Cruz's win over Mares as there were questions as to whether or not Mares was damaged goods going in.
Thanks @walrus Crawford is rated #4 at Super-Lightweight and is fighting on Oct-24 against once beaten Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs). The lone lose came in a game effort against Lamont Peterson in January of last year.
Jamie McDonnell was victorious again.

SUPER-FLYWEIGHT:

McWilliams Arroyo (16-2, 14 KOs) and Suguru Muranaka (22-2-1, 7 KOs) move up a place each to eighth and ninth respectively. Moises Fuentes (22-2-1, 12 KOs) enters at number ten.
Nice work and consistent effort on these. Do you automatically drop a fighter from top ten after 1 yr inactivity or take into consideration circumstances? Welter is interesting with Maidana hitting the year mark. Garcia for example, I'd have a hard time bumping Guerrero if it wasn't for his shaky performance with Martinez. On one hand he established championship and fought a couple of the top five, having some moments vs both. On the Garcia beat a semi retired Paulie coming off a brutal ko and tip toed in. Great work, just thinking out loud.
Thank @Spicoli I really appreciate it from such an established and respected member of the forum.
A fighter gets dropped if they haven't fought or scheduled a bout within a year at the weight they are rated. Champions get 15 months. I would like to take circumstances into consideration (such as say Postol who had stepped aside, but hadn't fought at 140 in a year) but it fairer to keep it consistent and have everyone held to the same standard.
Maidana will exit at the end of next week, his years inactivity is up on the 13th.
Guerrero was removed after his struggle with Martinez. A fight many though he arguably lost.
Garcia only has the Malignaggi win, if you take out the Peterson fight but he is entering as a former champion at 140. It should also be noted that Broner entered the 147 pound ratings based on his win over Paulie, and Porter also got credit for the win. So Malignaggi and Guerrero could been seen as quite similar in regards to Welterweight action
Good round up of boxing news for the week and the website is developing really well. It must be hard work to keep up to date with all the fights and you need passion to carry it on for a lon period of time. I have heard we have 3 posters who kept up something similar but could not sustain it. Good to have you on board and keep posting.
BTW Spicoli is not an established and respected member of the forum, we have Affirmative Action on our case and have to put up with him as we have quota on people we have to have on here who think “outside the box”.
Thanks @Master your support has fantastic. Haha @Spicoli seems like a nice guy and I often find myself laughing out loud at some of his posts and I tend to agree with a lot that he says. He reminds me of a close friend I have.
As for Welter; if Maidana is removed this weekend my top 2 replacements to enter at tenth are:
Lamont Peterson, based on his debatable loss the Garcia (The fight happened in the 147 pound division) and the fact that Garcia is ranked ninth. I was not sure if Peterson was going to return to 140 but he is now set to face touted prospect Felix Diaz (17-0, 8 KOs) on Oct-17 at Welterweight.
Robert Guerrero, is 4-2 at Welterweight. With wins over Aydin, Berto, a war with Kamegai and the questionable win over Martinez. His 2 loses are to Mayweather and Thurman.
I am leaning towards Peterson based on their recent trajectories.
Mayweather Jr walks away from the sport after defending his Championships in dominating fashion.

I use to love the lower weights and fighters from the far east. We do not get much coverage of those fighters. There is a gap in the market that ITV should tap into and show again.
Any recommendations? I loved Sot Chitalada, Galaxy brothers, Sung-Kil Moon and Yuri Arbachakov.

Yamanaka drops 2 spots after winning a fight? Really? I had Moreno beating Yamanaka as well. But I thought the fight was competitive and don't consider it a robbery. And defitnaly don't think he should of dropped from the top spot. Moreno deserved to move up. But not to the top spot
I agonized over that decision. On one hand I had Moreno winning handily. Yamanaka had entered at #1 so Moreno should advance over him.
McDonnell has also been on an excellent run so should he be demoted because of Yamanaka's performance? I didn't think that would be fair.
I also had to consider that to fill the vacant championship at this weight a fight would have to involve Moreno (seeing as I saw him beating the top guy). Leaving Yamanaka at #1 and McDonnell second would seem unfair if that fight was made to crown a champion, when I had scored 116-112 for Moreno over Yamanaka.
As it stands the championship can only be filled in a fight involving Moreno. If he fights #2 McDonnell or possibly if he fights a rematch with Yamanaka.
At the end of the day I saw Moreno winning clearly so that is indicated in the rankings.
Very subjective this rating system but I guess that is what makes it good but not necessarily fair.
I did not know Hernandez retired, that is a shame he did well beating Cunningham to win the title.
Again it comes down to how I saw the fights. Yamanaka is demoted because I thought he lost clearly. As for the McDonnell vs Kameda fights I had McDonnell winning the first by 114-113, it was close and could have gone either way so neither fighter changed rank. I thought McDonnell won the second fight clearly but Kameda retained his ranking at the time because Payano had just won a very close fight over unranked (at the time) Warren and the fights were competitive with another ranked fighter. Moreno had the Yamanaka bout coming up to make his mark.
Hernandez said he needed two successive surgeries, one for his knee followed by elbow surgery. He had already been inactive since last August so he decided to retire. Apparently he is in financial trouble as well.
Here's the Moreno vs Yamanaka fight for anyone that missed it:

Lineal, I think your opinions and knowledge are much respected here. @Master mentioned a while ago about you doing a pound for pound list. I would like to see you do this. Perhaps you want to stay objective which is admirable but most of the guts here No fuck all about boxing and I think you could teach then a lesson . ( that was an insult that used to be thrown around often around here, haven't seen it in a bit, I'm trying to bring it back, ie @Master knows fuck all about boxing)
I think Lineal is smart to stay out of the p4p fray. I enjoy his rankings and updates very much as well..... but I think it's better for him to stay out of the mess that is p4p. Those that know f*ck all about boxing wouldn't learn a lesson if it came up from the ground and swallowed them whole.
Thanks all very much. I'm glad to hear the rankings are being utilized. At the very least they are a reliable source for identifying some of the best fighters in every division.
I thought the new term was: DKSAB
As for P4P; we all have a rough idea of the best fighters around today. I just feel too many focus on that mythical list and who has been ranked ahead of who, instead of just watching these fighters and enjoying the fights. I could care less if someone rated Chocolatito above Ward or Rigondeaux. I understand the debate and used to take part and enjoyed them but now it seems more about trolling and hollering than about analyzing and discussion.
What about a monthly site P4P list? Has that been done? Get the forum to vote and a general feel of what we are all thinking. Then the polls close and the list is posted.
As long as a reasonable amount of good fights and match-ups are made every year I'm happy.
Ring card girls again? I can't promise anything
McDonnell was a clear winner in the second Kameda fight. The American comms - Paulie and Virgil - were the only two ringside that had Kameda winning. Paulie admitted afterwards that he got it wrong.
I have no idea why people are calling Yamanaka-Moreno a "robbery?" There were a load of 50-50 rounds with Moreno having a big 9th then Yamanaka having a big 10th. Close fight.
(( @Lineal - these are just observations from reading the thread, not a criticism of your ratings))
