PACQUIAO SHARP AS A RAZOR
Manny Pacquiao is in the best shape of his life as he prepares to face Ricky Hatton in the fight of the year next weekend.
That was the verdict from trainer Freddie Roach after the pound-for-pound king finished a gruelling workout at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
Pacquiao and Hatton meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and Roach is supremely confident that his man will come out victorious.
He said: "Manny is in the finest shape of his career. It's amazing when you think that this will be his fourth consecutive fight in a different weight class and all against world-class competition. Last year he fought at 130, 135 and 147lbs and next week he moves down to 140. He's incredible.
"Manny is as sharp as a razor and stronger than ever. We are prepared for the best that Ricky Hatton can muster, which is a formidable task."
Pacquiao is coming off an awesome demolition of Oscar De La Hoya last December. Many pundits claim the 'Golden Boy' was weight-drained and shot, but Roach disagrees.
He argued: "Ricky is about to step into quicksand and his only chance of escape will have to come from the referee or his corner.
"He can say Manny beat a washed-up Oscar De la Hoya all he wants. Just remember, Oscar didn't become washed-up until Manny put him through the ringer."
Roach also points to Pacquiao's record when stating the case for another glory night for the Filipino icon.
"I'll put Manny's roster of opponents up against Ricky's any day. Manny has beaten a host of future Hall of Famers including Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar. Ricky has been dining on his Kostya Tszyu victory for a long time. That was four years ago and Tszyu was at the end of his career. Who else of note has Ricky defeated?"
Roach ended by again repeating his confident prediction that Hatton won't make it past round three when the action finally starts next Saturday night.
"Manny had his bobble-head night on Tuesday at the Giants-Padres game and in the ring on May 2 he's going to turn Ricky into a human bobble-head, just like he did to Oscar. I told Manny I would be disappointed if this fight goes beyond the third round."
More of the same old cack......anything new or interesting?

Most people use The Guardian for wrapping chips. I have never known anybody to actually read The Guardian.
Unlike in the Philippines, we also don't treat our sports stars like gods and write only positive things about them. The freedom of the press allows negative articles to seep through, as well as positive ones supporting Hatton. There are a lot of Brits who will criticise Hatton. I would imagine a lot less Filipinos would criticise Pac. Britain is not a culture with a group think mentality, unlike the Philippines. It might explain the Pac hugger phenomenon. Many Asian (and also some non Asian coutries) have this trait, so this is no slur upon the Philippines BTW.
Finally, Frank Warren is a prick. He has never got over the fact that he tried to offer Hatton crap money and Hatton decided to walk away. He will pick every opponent against Hatton until the day Hatton retires.
Let's not make this a Philippines vs. Britain discussion... All I can say is there's also some criticism on PAC coming from Philippine media... (but I will not post those... ;) ) Just like British media criticizing Hatton... It's the same country to country...
Regarding Warren, he can't definitely be wrong 3 picks in a row or else, he will be the new Teddy Atlas... ;D
Let's remember Frank Warren stated he would retire from promoting if David Haye ever beat his prize possession, Enzo Maccarinelli. Look what happened, Haye destroyed Enzo and Warren is still promoting.
Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Just look at the Diaz fight and picture Hatton there instead, you got an easy answer.
That is what Hatton is facing here. No razor blade hands, meat grinding hands, too fast to see with the human eye hands......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

As for the Frank Warren statement do you seriousley take into account what he says about Hatton ? Frank Warren hasn't had one good word to say about Hatton since he left his stable. He's one bitter person. He even picked Malignaggi and Lazcano to beat Hatton.
But you know what, if it makes you believe that Pac has a better chance cuz these "Major UK newspapers" and "Frank Warren" says he will then so be it but let me warn you, you are only fooling yourself ;)

Looool, I read The Guardian, I think it's a lot better than most of the UK press for the most part, although the article he quotes is a bit useless as it's written by a guy who's not even a boxing journalist & has demonstrated fuck all knowledge of the sport such as when he claimed last year that the Calzaghe-Jones fight could decide the P4P best fighter in the sport

I think the guy has a point there... After Calzaghe defeated Roy Jones, there were some who installed him as the best P4P boxer at that time... Further Calzaghe retired being the no. 2 P4P boxer in the world behind PAC...

Please tell me you're being sarcastic...
So if Jones had won he would have been #1
Calzaghe retired in 3rd btw, behind your boy & a certain Juan Manuel Marquez

So that's his point before the fight... If Calzaghe wins, he could claim the no. 1 P4P spot... He's almost correct... We all know it won't matter for Roy Jones...:p
Just like this PAC-Hatton fight, if PAC wins it will cement further his no. 1 P4P status and if Hatton wins, contrary to what Hatton repeatedly claim, Hatton won't be installed as the new P4P king...:p

You can sometimes talk a lot of crap, SB. But I've bolded something very important here, that's 100% CORRECT.

then same thing goes for this fight, it can decide the p4p #1 fighter, cause if Hatton kicks Pacquiao's ass, Manny sure wont be #1 anymore, that claim will go to Marquez, and back to Floyd if he does make a comeback
Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Nothing useful to say here......

You could be right... What's laughable is Hatton's (and Hattonites') claim that he will be the new P4P king if he beats PAC...;D
