Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
does any one of you have their personal list of 100 greatest boxers in history. please post it here as a comparison or check on my list..
..i'll post my updated rankings..
This is my personal list of top 100 All Time Great Boxers.
This is my personal list of top 100 All Time Great Boxers.
personally i use this criteria:
80% accomplishment and historical significance - this
invloves fights with the fellow all-time greats, titles
held, punching power and boxing skills displayed, dominance and
longetivity.
20% timeliness and contribution to the growth of the sport- this also includes mainstream popularity.
Tyson is great but his legacy suffers because it can not
stand the test of time. Monzon's longetivity is matched
by hopkins thus monzon's rankings would go
down. henry armstrong legacy of jumping in weight in a year
is unmatched of more than 50 years...thats so long and he
deserves to be in the top 2 ATG.

i'm presently working on it and i'll be finished by monday..i'll post my rankings..
I think its pretty much impossible to do an accurate top 100 list, especially considering your bound to forget alot of fighters. And alot of the old fighters don't have much footage or no footage at all.
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
it's only as personal list and of course it would be that accurate but through the inputs of various posters we can come up more or less pretty good list..im using bert sugar and the ring ratings as a guide..
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
Its impossible. I seriously can make a list of the worst. LOL
Too many great fighters to fit into that tiny box!
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
I'd have a hard time thinking of 100 greats let alone putting them in order:p
Look forward to your list though asero that should be interesting.
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
100 is too many. i can probably do a top 10.
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
I'll have a go
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Roberto Duran
3. Matt Skelton
4. ....
5. ...
i'll finish it later.
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
Well I'll try based only off what ive seen for myself and not what i've been told....
1- SRR
2- RJJ
3- PERNELL
4- SSM
5- PBF
6- ALI
7- LOUIS
8- Barerra
9- lennox
10- SRL
11- holyfield
12- TONEY
13- bhop
14- oscar
this is impossible...havent seen enough of the older guys their fights are hard to come by not to mention the only ones people put up are of them winning. So i used my list based the fighters who i've seen the most of..and even though ive seen fights on the other guys like duran, pep, armstrong, saddler, moore, chavez, ezzard, greb, fitz,
i haven't seen enough to personally rate them high. and i don't go off what the old historians say because they're biased towards the old era guys anyway.

I totally agree, you took the words from my mouth actually.
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
All list are subjective. For anyone that does not know the meaning of the word, here is the explanation Subjectivity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Every list is going to be an opinion that is subjective. If I were to pick a fight that was a legitimate draw and I'd follow one fighter more than the other, I most likely would pick the fighter I followed as the winner. Example: Marquez / Pacquiao I.
I would be interested in seeing a comprehensive list that was based on a point system like BoxRec Ratings Description - Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia
There are things to consider that can only be subjective. They are not calculated into Boxrec's formula i.e. When fighters go past their prime and a lesser fighter wins. When a fighter fails to defend his title against other top rated fighters. When a fight is killed in the ring... (nah... forget that one) Fighters may have had injuries or had been weight drained. Anyway you get the point...
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
100 is too many. try counting 100 pennies and you'll say "fak it" after counting penny #43. top 15 maybe.
Re: Top 100 All-Time Greats: Post your list here...
