And what of Juan Carlos Salgado, is he as good as this win portrays? He is undefeated after all.
Woah! That was real Amir Khan territory. Got caught cold and his opponent gave him no room to breathe after getting up. Bit of a shocker that!
It's hard to tell anything from that really. Perhaps Linares is a bit chinny and just maybe Salgado is the real deal. It's just hard to make any solid conclusions on the basis of a single minute though.
That Juan Salgado has made a firm statement with that result. First real connect and game over.

Shocking, yes, but there were some signs that something like this could happen. Linares is a good technical boxer, but he needs space to think. Linares was very uncomfortable with Gamaliel Diaz and Oscar Larios when they pressured him. He was unraveling at times during those fights. He can come back from this, but he needs to needs to learn to deal with aggressive opponents better.
And the sound that punch made was amazing

When he was first coming up I was real high on him but I thought the hype got a bit out of control after the Larios fight. Not that I stopped thinking he could be a top guy or anything, far from it but BoomBoom is right the Diaz fight is remembered by most for the perfect one punch KO he had but he showed some vulnerabilities there, and he was hurt there so his chin has to have question marks. I still think he could get back into the picture though.
Plus his career has been kind of stop and start with injuries and so forth. He needs to get right back in there although not against this guy who may have something.

While I did not expect him to win I did think Salgado was going to be competitive. He was more than competitive. I had been waiting for Salgado to step up in competition to see how good he really was. He's obviously very good
