Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
This thread is a spin off of the other one debating the pros and cons of the latest Pac/PBF hiccup. Seemingly Arum is now saying the fight is off. I think both fighters should meet their obligations really. Floyd must keep to the set weight, but I also think that Manny should adhere to rigorous drug testing if that is what Floyd wants. If both men are submitting the test then I don't really see Manny's argument for refusing.
So, just a simple poll to see where opinions are at. Should Manny go with the full drug check, or is he right to say no?
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
Well if it was me and I was not using steroids I would agree immediatley to set up the biggest payday of my career and setup one of the biggest fights in history.
Funny thing is, after all the demands Pacs team have made in his last few fights regarding weights and so on, when they recieve a demand themselves they go running. I really hope he is not a steroid user as he seems such a good ambassador for the sport but I have to admit that the reaction to Mayweathers demands (which Floyd has agreed to do himself) have got me seriously wondering about Pac. Then again maybe he see's it as an easy way out of a good beating???

I have to agree with everything but the last part. I am starting to get suspicious myself now. I don't think it is that Pac is afraid to fight PBF. The blood testing refusal, which is the most reliable way to go for steroids, is undeniably suspicious. There is no real reason to not submit to blood testing. It will only back up your innocence or guilt.
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
Does having some blood taken affect your athletic performance? If it doesn't there is absolutely no reason what so ever not to have a blood test. Even if it does affect you a little, it will be cancelled out if the Mayweather has one too as he would experience the same thing.
Seems very fishy to me.
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
I voted no.
Pacquiao should be allowed to take the tests as he requested;
right after the initial Press Conference & the immediately after the fight.
Please tell me how or why this would be unacceptable?
Anyway, wouldn't it be better to test this way? If Manny or Floyd wanted to cheat, they could do it 29 days before the fight. Allegedly, Aaron Pryor did it 3 minutes before the end of one of his fights :-\

Because (I think) there would be enough time between the press conference and the fight to use performance enhancing drugs and the there be no trace after the fight.
Usain Bolt was tested about 5 - 6 times during the Olympics and it didn’t affect him. If you have nothing to hide, why refuse especially if it denies him the biggest payday of his career.

Usain Bolt? Blood Tests? Really?!
That's a lot of blood, are you sure about that? :-\
To be honest, i assumed taking blood from Manny during training would affect him, in some way. But i'm happy to be proven wrong on this one i guess.
But really, 5 - 6 times...!? I'd be offended to the point of resignation :D

Jim,
They take the equivalent of less than a tablespoon of blood. According to the USADA who would administer the tests, it replaces itself within an hour at most. Bolt was tested 6 times in the space of 10 days I believe. Still made no difference to him.
The key points about it weakening Manny are offset anyway by the fact Mayweather will have exactly the same test on the same day as Manny. So unless he has special regenerating powers, it will affect him just the same.
Also there are two reasons why they shouldn't be allowed to set the times when they take the tests. One is that you can cycle the PEDs to fit the testing schedule, it's like say you were growing weed in your garden & you knew exactly when the Police were coming round, you wouldn't leave it open to viewing at that time would you. The other is the use of masking agents. These can be administered to cover any type of PED in the blood & urine, however you wouldn't want to use it throughout training as many of them lead to dehydration or nausea. You could however administer it directly after a fight to cover anything taken as is my understanding.
Anyway, I'm not saying Manny is doing this, hopefully this gets resolved, but if he ignores a $40m payday because of this, there will be serious questions.

Mayweather isn't asking for the drugs testing to be exclusively for Pacquiao. He will undergo the same tests so would be affected equally.
Do you think it is at all suspicious that he isn't willing to be tested closer to the fight?
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
Being a huge Mayweather fan I have to say no. These requirements are aimed at nothing but insulting Pac. Everything they can test for can be detected in urine and drawing blood can affect hydration. There's no need for it, do random testing on urine and everyone should be happy.

Urine testing doesn't detect the number of red blood cells. To do this, a blood sample is needed. Drugs like EPO boost red blood cell production.

Na i make you and Jaz right. Thanks for the info.
I am now desperate for some good news on this :-\
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
Yes he should, there is no reason not to.
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
Yeah so do I. I thought it all going too smoothly. Hopefully I can be signed soon
Re: Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?
I said it once and i'll say it again..
To expect any fighter to succumb to bloodtesting multiple times during the middle of your training and the night before or the night of the fight is ludicris. No fighter in the history of the sport has ever had to take random blood tests in the middle of training the right before the fight... Why should Floyd be allowed to make such a rediculous request. So I guess Floyd is bigger then the History of the sport... Seriously????
Does that mean this Olympic style of testing should be implimented in every single professional fight?? If not, how is this any different AND DON"T SAY MONEY!!!!!!!
I know for a fact i am quite sluggish after getting blood tested, my wife isn't effected at all after blood being taken. Everyone is diferent...
With all due respect Usain Bolt isn't in the ring fighting againts the #1 or #2 P4P fighter in the world...
