Guzman to vacate and move up to lightweight because of all the bullshit about changing dates.. according to another site (sceneboxing).
I said all along this fight wouldn't happen. Arthur's mob very rarely put their men in fights without being favourite let alone where they're gonna get a certain defeat.
Can't wait to see who Arthur will be matched with next ;D
Smart move Arthur would of been massacred, Guzman is very good fighter he reminds me little bit of Mayweather with the shoulder roll. I think Guzman can do very well against the top Lightweights.Quote:

I think Joan Guzman is the best fighter at 129 and maybe the most talented fighter in the world outside of Mayweather. But he's not a big guy even though he has to cut a ton of weight each fight so I wonder how he'll do at lightweight. Most underrated fighter in the game by far no convincing me otherwise I hope he gets his shot.

To be honest Arthur hasn't really stepped up much since he got battered by Michael Gomez. I think that fight shook his confidence a lot.

Guzman has a history of fights being cancelled and weight problems. It's not really surprising he decided to give Arthur, traveling to Scotland, the WBO and super-featherweight the elbow after problems with the original date.
And it's hardly surprising if a few smart guys knew this was likely ;)

You can never write off Mitchell can you, you think he's taking a pasting and he comes back so strong.
I think if he boxes for 12 like he did in the first 4 and final 2 with Carl, he beats Arthur.

bar pac-marquez II that was undoubtedly my 2nd favourite fight of 2008 even more respect to the two considering it was an undercard contest.
Everyone was just expecting johannson to eventually lay down but he just kept coming and almost stopped mitchell in the 6th which would not of been in the plan.
kev strikes me as the kind of guy that would be willing to walk through anything in order to get his shot off.

Arthur avoided a bad beating
Arthur got saved from defeat.Frank Warren will put him in with someone that will make him look good then say Guzman avoided Arthur plus that way it keeps the money rolling in if he keeps winning.
Arthur is murdered at the weight anyway. He'll get given the belt, defend it against a Mexican roadsweeper or two then he'll have to vacate it and move up.
Not really surprising, I haven't seen the article but I would assume that now Arthur's people will say that it was Guzman who pulled out, blah blah. Guess that was the point of going through the whole charade with the purse bid and all that.

I'm a bit confused by this. Why is everyone slagging off Arthur for this fight not happening when its Guzman who pulled out?
I thought the fight was postponed originally because of problems with Guzman not Arthur?

Think various critics think alex has ducked fighters since the gomez fight.
For the ones though that claim arthurs team intentionally made this fight under the pretence that guzman wouldnt obtain a visa...

The very fact that Guzman is "notoriously unreliable", and has weight problems, makes it hardly surprising the fight didn't happen..but at the same time it's hardly surprising Arthur got the belt without fighting for it.
Guzman had already announced his move-up last year when matched with Katsidis for WBO lightweight title.. before that went tits up, obviously.
FW was Guzman's promoter a few years back. He knows all about him. It's surprising he felt Arthur was good enough to compete with Guzman - seeing as Arthur didn't have a hope in hell. And FW's mob are normally such extremely shrewd fight pickers ;)
