Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Come on guys this fight could happen in October give me your views and votes.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Ive gone for Pavlik because his punches are just to hard and often.Lockett after 2 an a half rounds looked like he had done more than 12 rounds.I think he stops Calzaghe
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Obviously, the only way Joe wins is by decision. Which means he'd have to go the full 12 rounds. Meanwhile, I can't imagine that Kelly's just going to let Joe stay outside and jab his way to a decision. I'm sure Pavlik would be schooled to force the action, cut off the ring, and make Joe engage. And therein lies the problem for Joe.

Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Pavlik by stoppage win round about the 9th or 10th round.

Another thing. I would like to add something else to this. Some people think Pavlik looks slow but he never pulls back for his power shots. Alot of fighters do. Pavlik doesnt need to . He pushes his punches out. Now pushing your punches is bad if you are a weak striker. Pavlik is not. Thats what makes him land and land those power shots often. He is almost night and day of a better fighter than the Pavlik we saw in the Miranda fight. He almost bats a hand away from your face with a short easy jab and the right hand is fired right on the mark. Lockett probably did not even see the puches that hurt him. I do not see Joe lasting 12 rounds as slow as he looked agianst boxing's grandpal.Kelly will do everything you say and I believe he knocks him out between round 5 - 8.

Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Will calzaghe take this fight? This would be the biggest and most dangerous fight of his career.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
maybe it was just an abberation, but Joe looked to easy to hit by Bhop. I know Kelly isn't the technical master that Bernard is but I believe that constant pressure and patience will eventually afford Kelly the chance to connect and that will be all she wrote.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
This has been an ongoing debate for quite some time now. It's only a matter of time before the Calzaghe fans see this and talk their boy up.
Pavlik wins this one. Joe hasn't seen anyone like him yet.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
I said Calzaghe by points before the Lockett fight and I'm definitely not going to let that mismatch influence my thoughts on any fight.
It would be a rough fight for Joe (especially if he's slowed down more) but I assume he'd do enough to win a pretty close decision. He'll get hit some but he can probably take it as long as he's not getting raked consistently every round. Pavlik's a big puncher but against the top guys its taken an accumulation of punches to eventually get the stoppage.
I may change my mind at some point. For now I'll stick with Calzaghe even though I'd be rooting for Pavlik.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
I honesty think it would be a bloodbath. And send Joe packing.
I don't think he or Enzo wants this fight. I do though.

I just dont see Calzaghe amiking it to the end in one piece. He will be busted badly. Pavlik bats punches and seems like a more complete fighter after every fight. His defense has improved drastically since Miranda. He seems stronger and more accurate. His foot work is alot better and never seems off balance. He is complete. He posses a bigger threat than Jones and any one at 168. Or maybee any one at 175 besides Tarver. He can do it. I know he can and in the back of all of the the minds of the oppisition has the same feeling too. Make us proud as always Pavlik.

If Taylor can hurt Palvik that the hell do you think Calzaghe will do to him,he will fucking KO him easy.Palvik is just a new Jeff Lacy overratted like hell,Calzaghe will beat Palvik half to death
Palvik wil look like this after the Calzaghe fight;D

Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
People dont take into account Pavlik is not only the biggest puncher Calzaghe will have met , hes 6'2 -6'3 , and Calzaghe does get hit alot with right hands , Hopkins - Mitchell - Reid , i dont want Pavlik to leave the MW division yet , but i think he can KO Joe .
Pavlik may not be a master boxer but he is so impressive , hes like a tank.
His jab is also excellent.
Pavlik KO 8

Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
JC by unanimous decision
At 168 kessler is heavier handed than pavlik and JC managed to extinguish his threat early on.
I really dont buy into the whole pavlik phenomena, 2-3 decent wins dont make a great fighter.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Calzaghe would have to use his speed and movement to win a decision. Pavlik will be tough for Calzaghe as he has a great workrate like Joe, strong and a monster right hand and everyone knows joe has a weakness in blocking that shot. I can see Calzaghe going down once or twice if they fought.
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Every big fight Joe is in people back against him say he will get ko'ed and so on.Ok Pavlik is a very big puncher but he can be outboxed like we saw in the second fight with Taylor.Taylor managed to go 12 rounds with Pavlik he got hurt but he got through to the end and Calzaghe has a granite chin at 168lb. I still have faith in Joe to win a UD.

Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
LETS MAKE THIS FIGHT HAPPEN PLEASE!IT WOULD BE FUCKING AWESOME NO DOUGHT!Like "Youngblood" mentioned earlier "It would be a bloodbath"i think too!Make it Calzaghes lasting RETIRING fight and the fight would be a cracker!!!I mean Calzaghe will find it really tought with just by the danger of Pavliks reputation, but Calzaghe will want to prove again how good he is and put on a great display to end his career.Of course Pavliks hard as foook and will be there to dismantle Calzaghes undefeated record before the Welsh man retires.....Thats what's going to make this fight soo good.Mouth watering:lickish:Come on promoters make his fight happen. It would be one of if not The Best fight of the year.....it has the ingrediants!!!!;D
-
Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
Pavlik is to predictable to beat Calzaghe.
If Joe was younger he'd smash him to bits. Seeing as he's an old man he'll have to settle for making Kelly look like a plodder.

Ya know, it certainly would make for good watching. If I was wrong about its outcome, I'd be the first to admit it plus I think it would be the ultimate exclamation mark on Joe's career. I just don't feel, and especially as Enzo was working the corner for Lockett, that he'd let the fight happen. Again, hope I am wrong.

Enzo would see Pavlik as an EASY fight for Joe. Fact.
;)

Re: Calzaghe Vs Pavlik?????
As of right now, I'd pick Calzaghe to outbox Pavlik.
However, the longer this fight gets delayed, the more it would gradually go toward Pavlik. Not only is Calzaghe getting older, but the longer he's at 175, the harder it will be for him to get back down to 168 to fight Pavlik.
But if they were to fight this year, I'd make Calzaghe a favorite.

Alright they mate.Obviousley his father Enzo will know Calzaghe better than anyone!!And he knew how much a danger Lacy was before the fight started, but it still happened. And even known that Pavlik has really Awesome punch power,"Aswell as Lacy did"the fight would still be in the mind of Enzo as well as Calzaghes to be made. After all they both know that Calzaghe has nowhere near the punch power of the "GHOST"but has the great tallent to out box and out class a very powerful dangerous opponant like Pavlik(Lucy too)I think Calzaghe will make this fight whatever his dad thinks!Calzaghe will want to prove how great he is!!Even if he does get MASHED up be Awesome Pavlik, there's no shame in that whatsoever!!!And if he does win......then he would be a legend no dought!!!!!He'll take this fight on im 90% sure of it mate.Would be a great fight,,really good!

Thats actually a very good point
Would enzo have it in him to put joe in the ring with pavlik especially after he has seen what pavlik can do to an opponent.
Enzo is no doubt a father before he is a trainer - could he really stomach the idea of seeing joe take the beating lockett just took???

Was actually pleasently surprised with the compassion he showed for gary on saturday.
With it not being a brutal knockdown i suspect a lot of trainers would of allowed their fighter to go on but enzo realising his man had taken enough of a beating rightfully waved it off

You are a douche bag. Look at the power differnce between Taylor and Calzaghe. Taylor was accually able to hurt Hopkins when hopkins was younger and better. Joe had nothing to hurt him with. The only reason Pavlik got hurt is he stuck his chin out to show off. Showing off is something Calzaghe fans are used to. Sorry but Pavlik is not Robin Ried who probably won that fight with Calzaghe. He is not Omar Sheika , Mario Viet, Toker Pudwill , or Kabery Salem. He is way better. If you think Calzaghe is going to slap Pavlik to a knockout you are crazy. Joe has nothing that will hurt him . Pavlik on the other hand is way stronger , and more busy than Hopkins with the same chin. Pavlik on the other hand could floor Calzaghe with no problem.

Without being unfairly harsh on Enzo
I would bet Warren instructed him to throw in the towel.

You know that how. Lockett could not make the post fight because he was in the hospital complianing of vision loss. Find me something to back thaqt up. I say Pavlik hits harder than Kessler.

Thats all it took for Calzaghe fans to be convinced. He only has a couple of great wins. One of them or two was controversial with Hopkins and Robin Ried.

sorry to say it mate but it seems your the one who is coming across pretty naive in all this.
JC has been beating guys up for 15 odd years now and hasnt once come across an opponent who had more to offer than calzaghe.
As ive already mentioned before pavlik will find his power at 168 isnt half of what he has at middleweight and if he does decide to fight joe in straight lines there will only ever be one outcome.
Kelly definetely has the ability to beat joe. I make no qualms about that.
But if they do ever meet pavlik would start the fight as the underdog and i would fully expect JC to be too busy and wily for anything to happen other than a resounding calzaghe points win!!

I wont neg you as your post appears to be light hearted. But I do think your very wrong. Pavlik is world class and has more chance of knocking out Joe than Joe has knocking out him.
Pavlik is like Cotto, they seem robotic watching them but when your in the ring with them its just a totally different story. They both hit harder and with more speed than it appears.

Pavlik on the other hand could floor Calzaghe with no problem.
lol
sorry to say it mate but it seems your the one who is coming across pretty naive in all this.
Purely speculation, not fact. I'd pick Calzaghe but you don't know what Pavlik's power will be like at 168, he's a gigantic middleweight so it seems hardly unlikely that he could carry his power up.
