7-Bernard Hopkins
8-Israel Vazquez
9-Ricky Hatton
10-Jorge Linares
-
Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
I don't know about Cotto as a number 1, but probably a number 4 or so behind Joe, Manny, and probably Pavlik. And I would take out Hatton from the top ten and add Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon.
-
Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
I wouldnt move Pavlik up any higher after he fought Locket as Locket has never been world class. But that isnt Kellys fault i surppose he only beats whats infront of him.

3. JM Marquez
4. Cotto
(gap)
5. Hopkins

I think the Top 4 are easy to rank. After that, a lot of guys who could get flipped around.

Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
WHy do people rate JMM so high ?
He lost to pac
He lost to Chris John not that long ago (though i didnt see that fight)
He had a very very questionable win against Barrera (and he did get knocked down in that fight!)
He is p4p for sure but above Cotto in some cases!? Cotto is on a long winning streak against very good opponents and def should not be below jmm
-
Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
To me this is the real one right now :
1- Manny Pacquiao
2- Miguel Cotto
3- Kelly Pavlik
4- Joe Calzague
5- Israel Vasquez
6- Rafael Marquez
7- Winky Wright
8- Ivan Calderon
9- JMM
10- Ricky Hatton
If Pacquiao win his next fight against Diaz , he could still in the first place
If Cotto win his next fight against Margaro , he could still in the second place and both positions depend of their performance in the fight......

I gotta admit I'm rating him more as a featherweight but in my opinion he beat Pac first time round and only lost the second on a split decision at super. Chris John ain't on his level but yeah he lost to him and he had a couple of points deducted for fouls, I think low blows?
I did struggle with my list though, seemed simple once i started but I stick by it for now.

He beat pac both times if you ask me
I had him winning both fights by a point.
You have to be a world class athlete to go toe to toe with manny pac for 24rds and JMM did it.
I went for linares over diaz solely on the fact i feel he is a better prospect.

Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
I think Marquez beat Pac TWICE. And he beat John.
Wherever Pac is Marquez should be near him. In my case.. he must be ranked in front.

In an ideal world yes
But you put a guy over a man he has just been beaten by twice over and naturally people start asking questions.
Vegas judges are now pretty set on awarding fights to the busier fighters, i cant remember the last time a judge awarded a close decision on the guy with the better accuracy.

Yeah but he had some points deducted in the John fight which obviously went againsed him in the judges eyes (also depends how the judges are scoring the round with the foul). The second Pac fight I have only seen once, live, but I never grumbled at the decision it was a close one. Should watch that again actually.
-
Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
I have no problem with Pac getting the decision over Marquez - twice. They were both very very close fights.
But in my book Marquez won both. Therefore Marquez is the better fighter.
So in the world of nonsense mythical P4P lists.. I think Marquez quite rightly deserves a place above Pac (if like me you believe him the superior fighter) ;)

I'm just glad making the list isn't my job. There are arguments for so many different scenerio's.

I had it the other way around. But look, everybody should respect the judge’s verdict because they were very close fights that could have gone either way. JMM is technically better, but he got floored 4 times. And most fans wanna see KOs or KDs in any fights. They're like slam dunks of NBA, touchdowns of NFL, and homeruns of MLB. Pac made both fights exciting. Ring officials were more impressed of Pac because of his aggresiveness and showmanship.

Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
Not sure about a top 10 but my top 3 are Pacquiao, Calzaghe and Cotto

Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
Whats people's reasoning for having Hopkins in their top 10. Surely his status there is reflective of his record and big names on it?
If its ability, taking away weight how is it justified that Pavlik goes in there. He does just the job without any exceptional skill, and his age means he doesn't have such an accomplished list of victims.
Its always difficult to weigh up people to put into a Pound-For-Pound list.
For me Hopkins wouldn't be on there, because he is abit diminished and although he has fought alot of big names, i still dont think he should be in there.
Pavlik should be, despite his lack of many great names on his record, or his technique. He still gets the job done and has a great punch.
Could there ever be a justified points system that could be created to decide a top 10 pound for pound list? I think not :-\

I think the reason Hopkins is still on the list because #3 Calzaghe had a questionable win against him. Just like Pacquiao's win against Marquez.

Anyone else finding it weird looking at all these P4P lists and not seeing Mayweather's name on it?

4. Calzaghe
5. Cotto
6. Hopkins
7. Rafa Marquez

Re: So what is now your revised p4p top 10???
Not really all that much has changed on my list. A few bum ups and additions
I added either Ivan Calderon or Chris John at #10 can not really decide
1. Joe Calzaghe
2. Manny Pacquiao. ( #1 and #2 can go either way)
3. Israel Vazquez
4. Juan Manuel Marquez
5. Kelly Pavlik
6. Bernard Hopkins
7. Miguel Cotto
8. Ricky Hatton
9. Rafael Marquez
10. Ivan Calderon/Chris John

I think if I was choosing that is who would go. I actually think that Calderon has deserved to be on the pound for pouind list for quite sometime but the scene has stayed the same for so long and the order seemed to be the only thing that changed it would have been unfair to take anyone else off.

Thats a good list Macho imo
the only thing id change is maybe to swap winky wit JMM simply due to his inactivity of late , a win against a big name opponent in the near future could see him back in the mix ;D
