Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
If this fight does happen and I think it will coz the Golden Boy normaly gets what he wants who would win.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
i think a rangey DLH can give Cotto more problems than Mosley did, especially if he uses a long crisp jab all night, one thing's for sure he'll have to have a balanced attack, a mixture of infighting and good lateral movement on his toes, like against Forbes, only difference is he'll need a sharper defense. but imo it's a toss up, hell we don't even know if Cotto's gonna make it to December undefeated
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
It would be a great way for DLH to go out of boxing but I think he gets hit to much these days and will get stopped in the last few rounds.
It a credit to De La Hoya that even in his last fight he only wants to fight the best.

I agree.

Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I think De La Hoya looks good for the first few rounds but gets outworked down the stretch. I wouldnt be surprised to see both guys down in this fight. However, I could see a few other things happening.
I could see Cotto winning by late TKO via body shot or barrge of punches against a tiring Oscar.
I could see Oscar winning by close decision if he uses his size and stays on his toes like the old Oscar and puts his punches toghether.
Whats amazing is that almost 15 years after Oscar won his firt title he is still competing against the best in the world.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Cotto for the reasons explained above
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I voted 4 Cotto,I think Oscars on the slide big time, the Oscar that fought Floyd I think would beat Cotto,Cotto catches Oscar just at the right time and grinds out a UD.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
ODLH, Because of his speed, guile, jab, and because I feel he takes a shot better than Cotto does..
:badass::badass::badass:

Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Cotto. Wrong fighter for a guy getting up there who always had some stamina issues.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Nothing like assumptions of victory for Superman Cotto on July 26th.....come on??
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Forbes a featherfisted fighter was able to mark up Oscar, I'm pretty sure Cotto's going to be a handful. Prime for Prime Oscar would win for the fact that he is a naturally bigger guy but right at this very moment I think it would be a toss up.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
ODLH matches up well with Cotto. He is younger than Mosely was, and still has good hand speed. He has range and has good power. Cotto is wide open for good upercuts and ODLH throws a good one.
Cotto is younger and fights 12 rounds. He works the body and has developed a good jab. He has the power to KO Oscar. He has a decent chin as well. I think if Cotto can get past Tony he will probably hve proved his chin even further. Cotto does get hit.
This is a tough call. Oscar is a much better fighter at this stage than Mosely. I thought Mosely could've won that fight if he would've not tired. There in lies Oscar's biggest weakness. He tires and doesn't do much the last few rounds. I think Cotto wins close descision, but Oscar could KO him as well.
This is a very close fight. Cotto will be the slight favorite.

Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I think ODH is the best total package that Cotto has ever been in and I think it will show for the first 6 rounds. After that Oscar's fatigue will start to show. I personally don't think Cotto can win by KO. Miguel has also been down before. So I'll say this if Oscar can win 5 rounds out of the first 6 and put Miguel down once then I believe he can squeak out a close decision. All that being said I'm picking Cotto. Much like against PBF I think ODH will look great early on his toes pumping that jab. Miguel will weather the early rounds and wear out the Golden Boy on the way to a SD. Oscar needs to take some notes from his boy BHop by pacing himself and stealing rounds. If Miguel can impose his will and fightplan its his to win.

The result would be contraversially close making a rematch a necessity Cotto wins the rematch

Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
the more i think about it the more excited i get about a possible DLH/Cotto fight, and the thing is i wasn't interested in it at all, but just disecting the fighters at this point and time, and the fight is just as much a toss up as is Cotto's fight with Margarito, DAMN AND THEN MAYWEATHER SAID COTTO CAN'T CARRY A FIGHT!!!!
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I think Cotto wins by either a decicion or late TKO. Just like everybody says ODLH will carry the early rounds with Cotto concetrating on the body. ODLH will tire faster than he usually does in this fight due to Cotto's body attack. If ODLH can be KOed by a BHop body shot then what is he going to do against Cotto's body shots. Nothing against Bhop he just doesnt attack the body the way Cotto does, not many out there today do.

Rematch ??Talk about getting ahead of our selves...Margarito will have a whole hell of alot to say about Cottos Future...:-X

Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
If light hitting Forbes was able to connect on de la Hoya all night and mess up his pretty face, imagine what Cotto will do. Still, de la Hoya will put up a good fight. This fight could go either way. But let Cotto defeat Tony first. That will be a tough physical test for Cotto.

Cotto who walked through monstrous uppercuts from Zab Judah doesn't take a punch as well as De La Hoya who got rocked by Mayweather several times? Hm. :scratchchin:

Cotto didn't so much walk through them as much as he did wobble away from him, cause he was hurt bad

I didn't see that. Cotto kept his feet and kept the pressure on Zab until Super faded away. Oscar got cracked by Mayweather and stopped throwing the only punch that could have won him the fight.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
After seeing what Forbes did to DLH in their fight, I'm almost afraid of what will happen to it against Cotto.
Cotto wins by way of Face Rearrangement
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I'm with Bx, Cotto rearranges Oscar's face ons his way to a destructive win either by points or late stoppage. Oh and if it is by points, expect it to be close, after all,it IS an Oscar fight.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I think Oscar's face will look fine. I say Cotto will gnaw on that body until DLH reminisces fondly on that B-Hop liver shot.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
then i feel sorry for what's gonna happen to Hatton against anyone else who has power, cause Lazcano was slow as fuck and he beat up Hatton's face something fierce

rewatch the end of the second round i believe, and well you'll see a very hurt Cotto

Please. Hatton probably bruises when they put the endswell on his face.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
you know damn well that even though Hatton clearly won the fight, he had his face blasted for a good part of the fight, hell he was even seriously hurt in the fight, and yet he gets all the praise?!? bullshit, DLH didn't look half as bad as Hatton did, both were going against guys out of their natural weight class (yea Lazcano is a natural lightweight, not jr. welterweight), but at least Forbes has been havin some decent performances lately, Lazcano not only was coming off of being inactive, he had lost his last fight before that to Vivian Harris, wtf?!?!
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Is not because I'm a Cottos Fan , but definitely Cotto win by KO....;D

Yep thats nearly right apart from " Cotto who walked through monstrous uppercuts"only I would have said tottered or stumbled through monstrous uppercuts myself..
:badass::badass::badass:

Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I wasn't impressed how ODLH got busted up against Forbes, but i think ODLH did take Forbes lightly and i still think he gives Cotto a close fight, i see ODLH winning the early rounds with Cotto coming on strong with his body attack winning a close UD although wouldn't surprise me if ODLH won a controversial decision.

The only time I remember ODLH getting a good clean shot was on that round (was it 8th or 9th?) when the round finished and when he let his guard down got a straight right from Mayweather. But it was not like "Oh my gaaawd, OHLD won't be able to recover! Look at him, he is totally in trouble!" Nope, faaaar from that, same thing for Mayweather. Can't really say that both ODLD and Mayweather were in trouble in there. Both fought cautiously.
But if we are going to go that way then imagine if Cotto got almots TKO'd by someone like Torres (where is he now?), cuts in almost all his fights, rocked in almost all his fights, exposed, etc. Imagine against ODLH.
I'll say it can go either way.
If almost eveybody in here hates ODLH and are certain that Cotto can give him a great easy beating then why do some of you complain for this fight? Shouldn't everybody look forward to seeing ODLH loose?

I complain because Oscar brings nothing but his name. There are opponents who truly deserve to be there who have fought and BEATEN significant opponents within the last few years. Oscar fans support his PPVs regardless of the outcome. Would you buy the 5th straight PPV of your favorite fighter if he'd either lost the last 4 or fought paper-thin competition? I'm speaking only from the perspective of if it HAS to happen what I believe WILL happen. I'd prefer Cotto fight Paul Williams next.
And I never said it would be easy. I think Cotto will have to work, but in the end he's going to break Oscar's body down and put him away.
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
Am a massive ODLH mark but even i know cotto would whoop oscar into retirement faster than you can say "come back floyd" ;D
-
Re: Cotto Vs De La Hoya. Who will win.
I make Cotto a very solid favorite going into this fight.

I watched the rounds many times, and Cotto never wobbled, never was hurt. On a couple of occasions he took a step back, but he never staggered or wobbled. He took Zab's power shots very well, something Cotto has done more effectively at 147. No need to respond in disagreement. If you have the fight on tape, you will agree with me when you see it again.

Sure! Why not? Either that or ODLH will make him do the chicken dance Cotto has already done before, get rocked like he has already in many of his fights, or get cut with a few punches. Anything can happen specially now that ODLH is no way near his prime.
