Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
Legion wish you were here today mate.Bloke next door comes down and mows his 4 foot grass in the block next door and we got a 4 feet tiger snake in our yard.He still there somewhere.:o:eek::( I definatley dont have them on my best freind list like you bro.
I followed him around while i had a mate on the phone and as I was talking and he is driving to us,it went under our fence and was crawling along parrellel to it but under it ,then it comes back out at me! So I got the dogs bed and threw that down in front of it between him and me hoping he'd go under it and stay put till my mates got here but he struck at it and went back under the fence. four of us with right equipment couldnt flush him out so Im turning around looking at 20 second intervals waiting for him to crawl back across the yard.
He was really nice grey more greeny though with jet black stripes right the way around and nearly the whole length of his body. One mate a local aboriginal who I called out said he sees them with maroon colored sides and everything a multidute of colors he said .Anyway if I hadnt of paniced Icould of got a shot of him on phone instead of running like 12 year old girl:cool:..maybe when he tries to make his way back.:-\

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
Andre Australia has some real nasty snakes , in fact all the bad ones , so you have a right to fear them.

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
You think maybe if I declare my place a seperate country they'll stay away :-\.
Might try flying an Irish flag.

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
I used to work at a conference centre/hotel retreat type thing that was out in the country and it was surrounded by long dry grass and open fields... One day I was walking through the place, and I hear this like, ear piercing squeel like someone was dying. I run round the corner to see my boss who was like a pretty Burlie guy, with a shovel in his hand wacking the shit out of these rose bushes.. He was hacking and chopping and we were like, "what's going on"? and he goes "There was a fucking snake".. Just then while he's still chopping, the snake comes flying out of another bush off to the side goes across the grass behind him.. We yelled that the snake was behind him while he's still chopping thinking it was in the roses.. He turnes around and again, the most awful squeel i've ever heard.... He ended up getting it with the shovel...
But he was absolutely terrified of it..
I'm not sure how scared I am of them, because I've seen very few of them in my life.. If I lived in an area where they were around often, I would probably be more afraid...
Spiders just freak me totally the fuck out though.. Horrified by them..

We have tiger snakes along the footpath where I run regularly, I hate them. I remember I was in primary school and we had a triathalon and in the space of 2km's of the run I saw about 3 or 4 tiger snakes. I shat myself, that does not even compare to my fear of spiders though. I was biten in yr.8 on m hand when I was getting something out of the shed and had this rash on my hand for 6 months whihc would not go away and was itchy as hell. I was told I was lucky that it was a little one otherwise something serious could have happened to me.
I think that is the only downside of australia; the vast array of animals which can kill you.

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
yup, put me down for spiders being wayy more scarier then snakes. just the little harmless ones in the basement, I mean really tiny, send me running and screaming like a little girl. I have a whole giant recroom down there, finished and carpeted...foosball table, private bathroom, home theater with play station, workout room....and can basically live there and not be bothered by anyone...my own bed if I want, fridge. But yet I can't...cuz the evil skeery spiders live there.
-
Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
I think I would probably change my mind if I picked up a t-shirt or something in my room and there was a snake under it.. That would freak me the hell out probably just as much...
Yet all things considered, I would rather have a pet snake than a pet spider...
My dad has no fear of spiders at all and would catch them in the house in his hands, then chase us around the house with them.. Man I would almost be literally throwing up from terror while i'm running.. It was just playing over and over in my head, if he catches me and puts that spider anywhere near me, i'll kick his balls so fucken hard he'll need surgery to bring them back down out of his stomach.... One day he chased me for about 10 minutes and I was crying hysterically for about 8 of them.. one of the worst 10 minutes of my life..

How can you be afraid of something that you are a million times bigger than?
Something that you can easily kill by crushing it with your foot, a finger, a shoe, a newspaper, or a multitude of items. :shakehead:

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
You guys ought to watch the movie "Kingdom of the Spiders" sometime just before you go to bed. hehe
Wasn't there a hit song some years back, called "I Don't Like Spiders and Snakes"
Myself, I have issues about flying stinging insects. I very seldom panic, but being buzzed once by a few dozen wasps, as an adult after I had already developed a fear of them, was enough to push me over the edge big time. Not fun.

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
I feel ya Andre; some people like snakes and some people don't.....Tiger snakes are in the top 5 most venomous and can ruin your day buddy.....In fact I saw an article last week about how 5 people have been tagged by Tigers in a weeks period I believe it was...Luckily anti-venin is readily available to you guys out there; no anti-venin you'll die and it won't be pleasant.....Tigers, especially the ones from Tassie and Chappell-Reevesby Islands rank almost #1 on my mosted wanted list; I envy you can see them every day....Cool thing is Australia is where they think most snakes started from, that area, and the antivenin from a Tiger will take care of other bites from species like a King Cobra or some African cobras, pretty cool stuff imo.....You guys have the most varied array of snakes of anywhere in the world, and the highest # of venomous vs. non venomous....I wish I could export your Tigers I would have a room full of them already:cool: And what I wouldn't give for an Inland or Coastal Taipan...Australia is the coolest place on earth if you like deadly animals.....

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
Yeah I've always known as in knowing they are around, but actually having the little fucker flatten its head and come at me is another matter.
Still i wont kill it; but today Im up early and are making a sack on very long stick with a wire loop and one with just the wire cause my back yard is a mess and i figure if there is one there, then there must be at least three . :confused:is that about the score?
This one yestrday was the teenager I dont really want to meet dad or mum .
I sealed up the cracks around the plummbing pipes under the vanity units last night cause they can get through the slightest gaps I heard from the lads yesterday. Im amazed I even slept.
I can handle spiders we got white tails ,red backs, wolfs, trapdoors, and these big black fuckers (dead ringers for funnel webs that actually live in a funned web) "But Im told they are not the same as the sydney funnel thats more deadly than many snakes and they actually rip blow flies apart instantly or just mug them with big fangs and then drag them in  .
Cool I can handle all of them and we shake our clothes out usually;
...but snakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH FUKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.
Maybe I should just wear my wetsuit and a pair of gum boots or wellies around from now on.:D

Strange what we all fear, I'd sooner tackle four obesse middle aged women than a 2 foot snake.

Well Andre I know you said you don't want to kill them but with all due respect, if you use a wire noose on the end of a stick you might as well kill them.....you wire them like that too hard and put ligature marks around their necks or bodies and it will scar and then they won't shed properly; enough bad sheds and it gets like leather on their bodies and then they die from parasite buildup underneath or if it doesn't shed properly on the eyes and keeps nuilding up they can't see. Might as well whack them and be done with it.....Where are you located I know a couple guys around Melbourne that get tons of calls and will come out and remove them for you.....or just get a stick with some type of metal or plastic hook like end to it and just maneuver them around it's pretty easy just stay away from the pointy end;D
-
Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
Here Andre the guy SSSSNAKEMAN goes on alot of calls I believe so if he's around your area send him a message and he will come out, or know somebody around you that will. You can see the "hook" he is using on the death adder.....

Yeah thats what i ment thick wire loop with a sack hanging off the end and the other one to lift him into it. not thin wire. So that I can get at least a 8 feet runing start on him;D.
Its up in a thick hedge now so I doubt it will come out til the day warms up. cant see it we just know where its at cause it didnt come out again. And our whole house is between it and where it used to live so i recon we'll see him again about 2 pm in the heat heading back across our back yard.
The boys that came yesterday were great and searched for a long time but you know by the time you ring and take your eye off the fukkers they could be anywhere.
Is it true they come out for milk?

Oh ok, sorry, my bad I misundersttod you bro'.....
Come out for milk?? LOL uh I don't know about that, sounds pretty stupid to me but who knows...Rats come out for milk and where rats and mice are bet your ass your local variety of reptiles will be there as well.
Tigers can be aggressive, and flatten their neck alot in intimidation, and won't hesitate to bit; but by far the worst one in Aussie as far as easily irritated and repeated, viscious strikes is the eastern brown or coastal taipan; leave em' be....eastern brown dropped I think 6 people this past year one of the worst in the world and 2nd most toxic land snake known to man; only behind your inland taipan which is rare and in uninhabited parts of cental/south australia. blah blah that's one way to get me talking again;D
-
Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
I've heard of tiapans chasing people and running them down and also the people not makeing it to their backdoors the venom is so potent.
South Australia is cold down south so they arent there but even though its called south Australia it extends right into the heart of central Australia and its there and west inland queensland and the southern part of the nothern territorties that all meet in the centre right there.Im sure those inland ones are in each of those states as well as where western Australia meets that boarder area too.
I've talked to aboriginals from the the boarder of NSW and VIC on the Murray river and they say they have some rare tiapans there :-\.
Hell we got places people litterally have never walked over or been into out here so really anything could go.specially in Tassie the bush is inpeneterable in one section over the west side we dont know exactly whats in there probably never will. Some convicts I think four i the group tried once jumping out from a logging crew and ended up dying of snake bites and the one who survived did so by murdering and eating his the other survivor! We definatley got mid sized panthers in some parts.

Here's a friendly western brown; they will try to escape 1st but you pester them and they don't fuck around......a guy early this year was hiking with a friend, got hit by a juvenile eastern brown, had a heart problem anyways, and was out cold in 15 and dead in 40 from what i remember......i wouldn't own one of these, too fast too nervous and the venom is POTENT to put it mildly lol.....

How bout this, the funnel web spider...one of the deadliest in the world...found in australia ;) Or how bout the taipan snake, or the inland taipan...also known as the fierce snake possibly the deadliest snake in the world. Australia has most of the deadliest snakes in the world which make rattlesnakes sound like cute little bunny rabbits. We have man eating crocodiles, a vast variety of sharks including the great white and bullsharks. Not to mention the fucking wombats! Seen the claws on those fuckers? ;D

Re: Ok I do fear something, its snakes.
Never been a fan of snakes, you can not 'read them',or I can't.And are fast as s!!!. After Katrina this place was infested, all over and it was freaky. I had a fatty one slide under the door at work, they were yelling cotton mouth, cotton mouth, so I grabbed a shovel and ...well.Turned out it was a 'mouser' and reg black snake ??? basically harmless they said. I felt a proper asshole for a while.
Now sharks scare the dog-squeeze out of me.No problems with spiders.

No they're not friendly in any sense of the word..Some are more laid back than others and get used to routine, like my male cape cobra, but some don't give a damn and try to end my life any chance they get like my female monocled cobra......they are not pets, just a hobby.

We have garden snakes here. ooooooooooo be askeered, be very askeered!
edit - got beat to it.

nice! Yah, that bitch Blondie don't look the least bit friendly. I don't know if you are married or not, but I'll bet they'd be good for picking up chicks. Hey Babe, wanna come back to my place and see my cobra?
