what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
ok here goes....
1-Manny Pacquiao
2-Ricky Hatton
3-Israel Vasquez
4-Paul Williams
5-Juan Manuel Marquez
6-Andre Berto
7-Miguel Cotto
8-Chad Dawson
9-Arthur Abraham
10-Juan Diaz
ok heres my explanations....
Pacquiao - loses to hatton at 140 in may but manages to hang on to the number 1 spot due to JCs retirement, a win back at 135 and the pure fact that american pundits dont really take to hatton oh to well.
Hatton - Victory over pacman has him flying up the rankings yet even another mandatory defence at 140 cant shift him into top spot.
Vazquez - clean year for izzy who manages to clean up at 122 before winning a world title at featherweight leading to many calling for him to shoot up furthermore and fight manny.
Williams - 2009 is the year for paul, rules at 154
Marquez - hard fought win against baby boy leads to JMM possibly moving up to 140 with hatton in sight and a world title at the weight by the end of the year.
Berto - Sure the guy is being protected but such a procarious talent deserves time to flourish into the world class talent he truly is. Berto-Cotto to be the fight of 2010
Cotto - vengenace for miguel who as soon as he polishes off jennings will redeem himself and win a hard fought stoppage against margarito.
Dawson - whoever said america isnt producing world class fighters anymore?? No calzaghe in the picture and probably no bhop or RJJ either. Few mandatory defences will eventually lead to dawson taking out either kessler or taylor.
Abraham - I rate AA, i really REALLY rate AA. But the fact is he`s being held back fighting in germany against 2nd/3rd tier opponents and wont get true recognition until he breaks the shackles.
Diaz - performance against JMM will only aid his status and hopefully get him a rematch with nate which he`ll win.
-
Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
How will Ricky Hatton getting stopped by Pacquiao get him to #2 spot? What about the eminent return of Mayweather? He should go straight into the top 10 p4p before his first fight, and he is the best fighter in the world, and he will definitely reclaim his position when he beats the winner of Pacquiao-hatton.
-
Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
Two major issues with that list:
1. Hatton as high as # 2.
2. Berto above Cotto.
Other than that... could be, I guess.

Gotta agree with u on that.
Here is my go.
PBF
PAC
P. Williams
JMM
BHOP
A. Abraham
Izzy Vasquez
Chad Dawson
Hatton
Caballero

Hmmm don't want to get too nitpicky but..........I would like to hear your scenarios that have Cotto and Berto on there but not Margarito. It is questionable whether Vazquez's surgery will be successful and he may have to retire, even if he doesn't he will probably never be at the level he was. How does Hatton get to # 2? How does Juan Diaz get on the list before Campbell? I guess it's only fair now that I post my list to be picked apart by others ;D
1 - PAC
2 - JMM
3 - Williams
4 - Margarito
5 - Calderon
6 - Campbell
7 - Dawson
8 - Hatton
9 - Rafa
10 - JML
I am assuming that B-Hop and Calzaghe will retire and that PBF will stay retired.

This right here, along with Titofans list, and eagle's agreement to the original list is exactly the reason why I have to make strong cases for Margo...and for the record (TitoFan I hope you are listening) There is no way Hatton, Berto, and Paul Williams are above Miguel Cotto!
There have been reports that Vazquez may retire so you have to take that into consideration as well, Paul Williams above JMM?! Who can he even fight that would let him move that high? Same goes for Berto.
This is where I need to put my list so I can scrutinized on it as well...I'll come back to it in an hour.

Assuming Bhop, Calzaghe, and PBF retire or stay retired.
Hatton's stock won't rise if he loses to Pacman.
JMM stays in the same place if he beats Diaz assuming Pacman beats Hatton.
Dawson's stock shouldn't rise after he beats Tarver again.
Does Pwill's stock rise if he beats Winkie Wright? How much? Who else will fight him? Maybe if he fights Forrest or Dzinzurik and beats them, he'd jump into the top five.
How about Nate Campbell? Does he creep into the top ten if he beats Funeka?

These guys should all have more than one fight in 2009. Dawson should beat Tarver, and I assume go on to something greater and WIN.
Paul Williams should beat Winky and perhaps Forrest to gain The Ring title at 154, if he goes back up to 160 it will probably be against a big name like Abraham or Pavlik, both winnable fights for him as well. Hatton's stock shouldn't go down if he loses to PAC, but he should go up if he defeats Bradley or Holt.

Its an ok list, we never really know what could happen.
I can see Ricky jumping to #2 if he loses to pac via close decision and beats jmm at 140 and another top 135 that would move up to 140. Maybe.
I think Israel will be fine, I read his injury has a high recovery percentage.
as for JMM being at #5, only if he loses then me will drop there but if he doesn't he stays closely to pac at the top.
Paul williams is good but his going to have his hand full with winky, if he happens to stop winky and continue to win impressively during 2009. then this can be possible.
I hihly doubt Berto will be top 10 by next year, theres too many better fighters right now. Plus who will Berto beat at the division?
I dont think Chad Dawson will be top 15, who can he fight to get him in top 10?
If Arthur beats Pavlik then maybe he closes in to top 10 but his going to need more big fights.
Juan Diaz is not getting in top ten period.
Heres my list:
Pac: stays on fire during 2009, beats hatton, spanks floyd back to retirement at 147.
Jmm: Rules the 135 division, and ready to climb up to battle against his biggest rival Thee PACMAN!
Margarito: Beats Williams in a rematch and tighten up his grip on the welterweight division. Pac threatening, the matchup looking more possible then ever.
Izzy: Not as active but keeps his place.
Rafa: Ruling the division in IZZy's absent.
Nonito: Rules the Flyweight division! ko's montiel, vic(again), mijares.
Calderon: Continues to be undefeated, beats solis!
JML: Threatening Rafa and Izzy, a match is about to be made for 2010.
Pavlik: Comesback and rule his division, ko's arthur
Cotto: Comesback but still not going to beat margarito.

Decent list but seen as Manny and Hatton are fighting each other in May the loser would have to bounce back with 2 fighter against top class opposition to get back up to first or second on your list all in half a year.

I would agree with this one the most. JMM any lower than 3 spot is insane.

Hatton - Victory over pacman has him flying up the rankings yet even another mandatory defence at 140 cant shift him into top spot. I just cant see him this high, mostly because I cant see him winning against the fighters that he would need to beat to even be on this list.
Vazquez - clean year for izzy who manages to clean up at 122 before winning a world title at featherweight leading to many calling for him to shoot up furthermore and fight manny. I am not going to play the what if he retires card here, as far as we know he's in just like right not Floyd is out.
Williams - 2009 is the year for paul, rules at 154. I can see him owning 154, but a win over Forrest and Santos I dont think can substantiate jumps over Marquez or Cotto
Marquez - hard fought win against baby boy leads to JMM possibly moving up to 140 with hatton in sight and a world title at the weight by the end of the year. The only thing I dont understand in regards to how you have JMM is how all the other guys jumped over him.
Berto - Sure the guy is being protected but such a procarious talent deserves time to flourish into the world class talent he truly is. Berto-Cotto to be the fight of 2010. This is a terrible explanation to have this guy jump Cotto, Dawson, Margo, even Abraham.
Cotto - vengenace for miguel who as soon as he polishes off jennings will redeem himself and win a hard fought stoppage against margarito. A stoppage of Margarito...did you watch the first fight?
Dawson - whoever said america isnt producing world class fighters anymore?? No calzaghe in the picture and probably no bhop or RJJ either. Few mandatory defences will eventually lead to dawson taking out either kessler or taylor. I can agree with him jumping somewhere into the picture, but not over Abraham until they fight.
Abraham - I rate AA, i really REALLY rate AA. But the fact is he`s being held back fighting in germany against 2nd/3rd tier opponents and wont get true recognition until he breaks the shackles. For him or Pavlik to be on this list they need to fight each other.
Diaz - performance against JMM will only aid his status and hopefully get him a rematch with nate which he`ll win. While I dont see him beating JMM I can see him beating Nate, I can agree with him being somewhere on the list, I can see him on here where I dont see Berto or Abraham

Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
right haven't given this much thought but here's a list off the top of my head ;D
1 PBF
2 Pac
3 Juanma Lopez, yeah he's that good
4 tall Paul Williams
5 A Abraham, beats Pav in a classic
6 Kessler, provided he fights someone
7 JMM, can see him losing a fight this year
8 Gamboa, still early days but he'd beat anyone in his divison
9 Vazquez, wins a couple but loses to Juanma
10 Paul McCloskey, why not ;D
-
Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
Mayweather
Pacman
JMM
Williams
Margarito
Vasquez
Marquez
Berto
Cotto
Hatton
This list is assuming Calzaghe and B-Hop have both retired and a few honorable mentions would go to the likes of Kessler, Pavlik, Abraham, Juan Diaz and Chad Dawson.
-
Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
1 Floyd Mayweather
2 Manny Pacquiao
3 Juan Manuel Marquez
4 Bernard Hopkins
5 Paul Williams
6 Antonio Margarito
7 Ivan Calderon
8 Chad Dawson
9 Juan Manuel Lopez
10 Rafael Marquez
Right ok let me explain this list a bit, Floyd Mayweather returns and gets the number 1 spot back again and beats Andre Berto this year. Manny Pacquiao/JMM both beat there upcoming opponents and stay where they are. Bernard Hopkins stays at 4 maybe has a fight this year and wins but either he stays at 4 can't see him losing or retiring just yet.
Joe Calzaghe retires and gets removed off the top 10 P4P list, Antonio Margarito beats Shane Mosley then Miguel Cotto again, Paul Williams beats Winky Wright then a title holder at Middleweight. But doesn't get the credit for beating Winky Wright because he is lackluster. Ivan Calderon defends his title twice this year but against no one well known.
Rafael Marquez gets knocked down a tad, because he is inactive. Chad Dawson defeats Antonio Tarver again then Glen Johnson again and moves up maybe 1 or 2 places. Juan Manuel Lopez defeats a stiff then beats Israel Vasquez in devastating fashion, he moves into the top 10 and Israel Vasquez gets dropped from the top 10 P4P.

Ice, retired or not floyd has nothing on pac. No way he moves back to top spot while pac is around. Remember Hatton is at his best at 140, floyd didn't want no part of him there but made him go up at 147 where we all saw already how horrible ricky was there. Pac is fighting hatton where hatton rules at 140. Pac beats hatton and already defeated oscar, floyds resume two top names then floyds resume is completely belittled by pacs.

Theres flipside to that you could also say Floyd Mayweather fought a much better version of ODLH. And at ODLH's more comfortable weight aswell, so that works both ways when was the last time ODLH fought at Welterweight ? Manny Pacquiao may have the best single wins but overall Floyd Mayweather has a better resume.
Floyd Mayweather's best wins.
Genaro Hernandez
ODLH
Zab Judah
Ricky Hatton
Angel Manfredy
Diego Corrales
JLC x2
Arturo Gatti
Jesus Chavez
Carlos Baldomir
Manny Pacquiao's best wins.
Erik Morales x2
MAB X2
JMM
ODLH
Jorge Solis
Oscar Larios
Jorge Eliecer Julio
David Diaz
But i do think Manny Pacquiao isn't that far off a few more big wins, and he could easily surpass Floyd Mayweather. But i still think he is somewhat behind, plus Floyd Mayweather also has the better achievements.

ICE are you serious? you always list those same names like all of them are tough fighters :p
-
Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
How could anyone say Mayweather has nothing on Pac??? Pac is #1 because Floyd retired, plain and simple...
Mayweather is the better fighter hands down no doubt...
Old dried up Delahoya
Scrub Diaz
Questionable and controversial desicion against JMM, then refuses a rematch to silence the critics.... JMM goes to 135 and beats the Ring champion while Pac feasts on a mediocre title holder...
Now JMM is #1 in the division and Pac is #2 But Pac wont rematch him:confused: but wait Pac is jumping weights and not unifiying along the way and he is revered, but mayweather did the same thing and got lambasted...
Thats shits not flying with me

Mayweather is the best mouth. If he were to be ranked again he'll' be lucky to make the top 10, because he would rather fight Hatton again than Pacquiao.
JMM will drop off the top ten because he'll loose to Diaz. JMM is headed downhill and will continue to loose the longer he says. He has to beat Campbell before you can say he's #1 in the division.

Some of the greatest fighters of all time mouthed of, Muhammad Ali to name one. And how would he be lucky to be top 10 if he comeback ? are you frigging serious ?
How many fighters have won 5 titles in 5 weightclasses ? and how many fighters in modern day boxing have beaten as many quality names as Floyd Mayweather ? and which boxer in modern day boxing has the skills of Floyd Mayweather ?
Also how the hell will JMM lose to Juan Diaz ? Juan Diaz is a good fighter and i personally like his style. But he got picked apart by Nate Campbell. And JMM is one of the best counter punchers and pot shotters around.
Plus Juan Diaz doesn't have the power to hurt JMM, and since when has JMM been on the slide ? he has fought 4 amazing fights in a row against MAB, Rocky Juarez, Manny Pacquiao, Joel Casamayor. So i fail to see how he could be on the slide.

Please he'll beat Campbell faster than Casamayor...
Lose to Diaz... If Campbell could outbox him, JMM will tear his ass up, Jmm is just as tough as Campbell

Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
- Pacman - beats Hatton, retains #1 spot.
- JMM - beats Diaz
- Vasquez - continues to dominate
- Darchinyan - beats Arce, beats winner of Donaire v. Montiel
- Margarito - beats Cotto and Mosley
- Celestino Caballero - jumps into top ten with win over Juanma
- Pavlik - beats Abraham after beating Rubio (but I'm not sold on a win over Abraham yet, waiting for Rubio fight). If no AA fight. No top ten.
- Rafa
- Paul Williams - beats Winkie in close/ugly split decision, and then beats Dzinzurik in a close but unanimous win. Forrest and Margarito don't want anything to do with him.
- Nate Campbell - win over Funeka, and another win, but can't land fight with Pacman or JMM.
- Chris John - beats Rocky Jaurez in the US and then fights another big fight here.
- I'm assuming Calzaghe and Bhop retire, and PBF stays retired.
- Dawson didn't make my list only because a Tarver win doesn't do it for me, and his following opponent won't be world class.
- No super-middleweight made it because I'm not convinced of another big fight on the horizon.

Good fighter
ODLH
Good but past his best still a gutsy move by Floyd (but Manny shifted up big time in weight)
Zab Judah
He was knocked out in two by a 140 great years ago. Floyd could not even KO him.
Ricky Hatton
Hatton moved up to take the fight in a division he only ever did shit in;D
Angel Manfredy
Good fighter
Diego Corrales
Good fighter, seemed off on the night
JLC x2
Lost the first one, second one was scored closer than the first lol, I think!
Arturo Gatti
Not a great fighter but had great fights againsed proper brawlers he was just a name to enhance Floyds(arent they all)
Jesus Chavez
Good fighter, good performance.
Carlos Baldomir
The worst undisputed champion since....fuck knows
Manny Pacquiao's best wins.
Erik Morales x2
MAB X2
JMM
ODLH
Jorge Solis
Oscar Larios
Jorge Eliecer Julio
David Diaz
But i do think Manny Pacquiao isn't that far off a few more big wins, and he could easily surpass Floyd Mayweather. But i still think he is somewhat behind, plus Floyd Mayweather also has the better achievements.
Just a couple of comments on some of Floyds fights.

You think chocolate will move up in weight? I think he has the frame for it.

Re: what will be the p4p top 10 this time next year??
Apart from the Hatton miscalculation it wasn't far off though. The reasoning was mostly wrong, but the top 10 is a pretty close guess.
Talk about digging one out from deep!

That was a good guess homo! ;D still after Hatton lost i would whackhim at no.2. who wouldnt? :D
