gary shaw acting like a baby!
gary shaw said tonight that even if darchinyan wanted to fight donaire, there's no chance he would let it happen coz he said donaire was "disloyal". the commentator said that he should do it to satisfy the fans but he said he'd rather have darchinyan fight montiel, marquez, vasquez. personally, i dont think darchinyan has a chance at anybody at bantam or super bantam. what do you guys think about what shaw said and/or darchinyans chances at weights about 115

I believe Vic could fight well at bantam but superbantam may be too much of a stretch especially with the depth of talent in that division.

Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
End of the day what has Donaire done since? Absolutely nothing... I see he is set to meet 'Cobra' Martinez next so it may well be his downfall!
Whilst Darchinyan has shot to the top of his division & among the top fighters in the world. Considering many thought he was finished after the Donaire KO his achievements are nothing short of amazing!
The Montiel fight needs to happen next!!!
-
Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
honestly i think Montiel would give him the worst beating, just the combination of speed, plus power, and how well Montiel moves, i think he'd murder Darchinyan, then the big boys like Vazquez,Marquez, Caballero, and even Lopez would leave him a vegetable :o
-
Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
Well I don't see how you can't reward a CHAMPION!!! but OK:rolleyes:....
Anyhow...
At Bantam Vic would be a player possibly champion but at Super he would get blown out by the top tier...He is strong and can boxx but he has zero chance of holding off guys like Marquez, JuanMa, and certainly not Izzy...
They would walk through the left of Darchinyans and starch him inside of 5
-
Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
All he's got is mad power at 115lbs. Can he bring it at 122-126? If he can, a big "if" at that, does he have the size to get by without decent boxing skills? I seriously doubt, you can extend territory with a one trick... destroyer?

Hasn't Vic said all along he wants to avenge the loss? Surely the Donaire fight is the most logical. Or does Shaw think Donaire would school his charge again and then leave him flat on his back? Montiel is no longer WBO champ at Super-Fly. So a move to Bantam is the only way that fight happens.

I don't care much for paper titles but I think Montiel is fighting Morel on 28th March in defense of that organizations interim trinket. Besides Darchinyan/ Montiel at 115 will crown a Ring champion!!! So I see many reasons for it happening at 115.
I agree with you that Darchinyan should get the opportunity to avenge his loss but at this stage I think Montiel is the bigger fight!

I agree, at Bantam Vic will win a title. Leave the Super Bantams well alone, he doesn't beat any of the guys you mentioned.

I agree with you guys about Bantam he could make some noise but theres not really a fight at 118 that gets my heart racing! Now at 122 all 3 of those guys mentioned would be huge fights! I'm not saying Darchinyan wins any of them but they are fights I'd prefer to see. Vic is 33 & the clock is ticking, he has to take the biggest challenges & biggest money fights now!!!

Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
big ups to vic, he has taken apart fighters one after another after being knocked out by donaire. A lot of credit is due to vic for doing what he has done. He was written off after losing to donaire but he comes charging back up to the top with wins over good competition.
Donaire has not been as active but he has soundly beaten everyone put in front of him since beating vic. the problem was is he wasn't getting fights, he had a dispute with his father/trainer also with gary shaw.
Donaire is still the guy vic can not beat though, that must be why gary is acting the way he is. Think about it, Vic gets all this big win and gets back on top but only to face Donaire again. I think Gary is protecting vic from donaire, but it is not Vics fault because im sure he wants to fight donaire again even though his going to get dismantled.
-
Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
I also think Gary Shaw is more on protecting Darchinyan from Donaire.
Nonito Donaire has all the tools that's all wrong for Darchi. Nonito is a very good technician, very much faster/quicker than Darchi, has long reach, has good power that can stop Darchi on its tracks and bigger than Darchi.
Gary Shaw has very good reasons to protect Darchi from Donaire... :)

gary doesnt want to let nonito get the reward (three titles) vic has right now :lolhaha: pussy :p

they are seriously ducking nonito.
notice how vic goes who? who? like his suddenly not paying attention to the interview :lolhaha: then vic wisper things to shaw like he really wants the fight and then turns to someone else like he dont want to be in the conversation about nonito anymore :lolhaha:

Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
Let me put it on record here right now... If Darchinyan fights Donaire in the near future (2/ 3 fights max) Vic wins!!!
I give credit to Donaire for taking Darchinyan out & would love to see a rematch.
Darchinyan is going to be tough for anyone around the weight & all you goes saying that Donaire is going to do it again may be right... but your forgetting one thing... there is a reason they fight the fights. Everyone said Mijares was gonna put on a clinic, didn't happen. That is one reason I love the game so much because anything can happen!
Plus I think Donaire should worry Martinez! Because theres a good chance he's gonna lose!!!

who? who? wtf... Vic didn't know who KO'ed him??
but I forgive Vic if he really didn't hear the name "Nonito Donaire" clearly (intentionally or unintentionally) ... :lolhaha:

Darchinyan probably said who; as Donaire has been pretty much forgetable since that win!
All I'll say is watch out for Cobra Martinez...

Donaire done nothing for sure.. but that doesn't mean he is less than Darchi.. That 1 loss on darchi will always be there.. its not the other way around that some people think. Darchi needs to avenge that loss if he really wanted to clean his record and say that he beat everyone he had face.. donaire maybe inactive for the simple reason that he mess up his promotional contract before.. not because he is ducking somebody.. you know that for sure..

No ones saying Donaire is ducking anyone but he is wasting his talent & now with Martinez in his tail it may be too late, as for Darchinyan ducking Donaire I don't think so he's already fought some of the best fighters around the weight & proven he'll fight anyone. It may be just a case that Darchinyan has bigger fish to fry i.e Montiel & some of the bigger name, bigger money fights at 122. Not saying he'll win those but at 33 he needs to make his move now & unfortunately knocking out Donaire may not be in his plans!

Yeah darchi fought some of the best but still that 1 loss will always be there.. Don't tell me darchi is better than donaire right now? coz it isn't.. Donaire beat his ass convincingly.. Its not donaires fault that they cant have a rematch.. its Gary Shaw becoz of stupid promotional contract. If donaire is not a big fish so be it.. At least he beat the man of the division he is reigning now.

I agree Shaw should make that fight & as a Darchinyan fan I believe its a fight he can win!
Donaire is very talented & I hate to see him wasting it with all the inactivity. Hopefully he's back on track & can start building his own legacy rather than ride Darchinyans. I think he's got a tough task ahead in Martinez but a win there will prove what a top talent he is!

I got to disagree with this statement bro Galaxy... After the Donaire fight, Darchinyan fought Catubay, Gorres, Kirilov, Mijares and Arce... I consider Donaire a much bigger fish than the aforementioned boxers except maybe for Mijares... Donaire a bigger fish plus he has a loss to avenge, there's enough reasons for the rematch to happen but it's just unfortunate Gary Shaw does not want this rematch fight for whatever his personal motives might be... ;)

Depends what u mean by bigger fish. In boxing talent Donaire is arguably a bigger fish than the mentioned Vic opponents but in terms of moneymaking, Arce and Mijares are bigger fish. As is Monteil and the big little men at 122.

Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
Shaw shouldn't stand in the way of a rematch. But I do see where he's coming from. He pretty much made Donaire. Got him the big fight against Darchinyan. And convinced Show Time to televise his fight with Luis Maldonado when it wasn't going to. Only to watch Donaire convince himself he's a superstar and thinking he was owed everything. Donaire demands were the reason Donaire sat on the sidelines as much his he did. Shaw did his best to try and accommodate Donaire and his outrageous demands. Only to watch him stab him in the back and jump ship. Disloyaity at it's lowest.
-
Re: gary shaw acting like a baby!
Yet another reason our sport is dying. Gary Shaw, who also is/was (not sure the state of the EliteXC and if he has fighters under other MMA promotions) an MMA promoter is costing boxing a good fight for his own selfish reasons. I would say to Gary, if you want to really pay Donaire back, why not let the "new" Vic kick his ass? Our sport doesn't need to miss out on any big fights and we certainly don't need promoters of any stature acting like Gary Shaw.

I agree that in terms of money, Mijares and Arce fights could be bigger than a Donaire fight... But you can't totally say that Darchi is looking for bigger fish since he also fought the lesser Catubay, Gorres and Kirilov while ignoring the Donaire rematch which I consider a much bigger fight for Darchi compared to the 3 fights mentioned...
If Gary Shaw said that he don't want to reward Donaire with the "3 belts" that Darchi now wearing then Shaw is really afraid Darchi might lost again to Donaire in a rematch coz if he is confident in Darchi winning this time over Donaire then he should not have blocked a rematch fight... ;)

Catubay was a comeback fight, and in terms of moneymaking Kirilov and Gorres are easily at the level of Donaire. Anyhow Gorres was an eliminator fight and Kirilov was for a title at 115.
Donaire is a greatly skilled fighter but still a relative no name.

i dont think so... so why the hell still the boxing press wanted him to rematch donaire if he is a no name fighter? Dont twist it body.. Its Darchi who needs Donaire to show his greatness not the other way around. Donaire knock him big time..

Im not twisting anything. What the boxing press want and what will make money is often completely different. Darchinyan even after the loss to Donaire is a much bigger name on the world stage than Nonito. He is a bigger drawcard by far.

But still Donaire is a known fighter.. darchi is bigger draw and bigger name but that doesn't mean he is better than donaire. You are a boxing fan right? The boxing press and us fans want first is for a fighter to cement his legacy isnt it? Businessman fighters is not bad but choosing money before great fights is like ducking someone. How much did Darchi earn from the Arce fight? Im sure if he fights donaire now he will earn more than that. Coz its what fans want and im sure you do too.

Donaire is a greatly skilled fighter but still a relative no name.
Don't act like Darchi by asking "Donaire who?"... As boxing fans, we all knew who knocked out Darchinyan cold... So Donaire is not really a relative no name as you suggest...
If Donaire and Darchi fight again, I pick Donaire to give a beating to Darchi similar to what happened in the 1st fight...

If Gary Shaw said that he don't want to reward Donaire with the "3 belts" that Darchi now wearing then Shaw is really afraid Darchi might lost again to Donaire in a rematch coz if he is confident in Darchi winning this time over Donaire then he should not have blocked a rematch fight... ;)

I never said Donaire who? All im saying is that Vic has fights out there that wll make him more money and will help his legacy other than Nonito. Its not his fault Donaire has done nothing since he beat Vic yet Vic has beaten a number of ranked fighters and a top 10 P4P guy. Yeah i wanna see the fight and i think Vic beats him this time. Nonito wasn't giving Darch a beating he caught him with a good punch. It happens. I admit he got beat.

Are u an idiot? Arce has the biggest fanbase of any fighter under 122 by a country mile, and Vic is probably second. All Jorges fights are big events.
Donaire struggles to get his fights telecast let alone make big money. No way Vic makes more fighting Donaire than fighting Arce.
How is fighting Monteil or one of the great fighters at 122 choosing money before a great fight? The other point is that Vic is looking to fight at 118 even 122 whilst Donaire is staying at 112, so unless Donaire moves up how is the fight gonna be made?
Yeah it'd be nice if Vic fought Nonito again but he is not ducking him and scared if he fights someone like Monteil who is bigger and arguably better than Donaire anyway. Nonito needs to stop living off that one win. Its his fault he isnt getting the big fights because he thought he could call the shots and look what happened.

I think Vic is itching to get back on the only boxer who KO'ed him cold. The problem here is Vic's promoter that is against the rematch fight.
You can't say Nonito has done nothing. Maldonado, Mthalane and the upcoming fight against Raul "The Cobra" Martinez are all dangerous fights. We can even add that Donaire defeats Maldonado more impressively than what Darchi did to Maldonado.

More impressively? They both won by KO in round 8! Bear in mind Maldonado was in the prime of his career when he fought Vic. He'd just come off a draw with Mijares, his best ever performance. By the time he fought Nonito Luis was damaged goods because Vic gave him a beat down.
Mthalane dangerous? The guys best win was shot beyond shot Hussy Hussein. The guy barely deserved a title shot.
And he hasnt fought Martinez yet so how can that count in what he has done sense?
Look Nonito beat Vic, we've established that but the fact is Vic has done a tonne more than Nonito since then. U cannot deny that and if u try your deluded.
I've got nothing against Donaire as a fighter, he is good. He seriously needs to stop believing his own hype and make meaningful fights. If Vic wont fight him move up and fight other top guys, chase him up to 118. Actually show some loyalty to the promoter that gave him his shot. U may say Shaw is acting like a baby but fact is if it wasnt for Gary Nonito wouldnt have got the Vic fight and may still be wasting his time fighting bums in the phillipines.

You don't know what you're talking about... Nonito Donaire moved to the USA when he was still 8 years old... He's a US amateur boxer and almost represented USA in the Olympics... His 1st pro fight was held in the USA... I think he only fought 2 times in the Philippines out of his total 21 fights... All of his fights were in the USA... I think Donaire fought more fights in the USA than Darchinyan...
It's clear you don't know very much about Nonito Donaire... ;D

Owned!
Darchinyan is doing great and if I were Gary Shaw I wouldn't risk one of my only 'superstar' left to the only fighter who KTFO of him and dumped me for another promoter. Donaire obviously is the most dangerous fight for Darchinyan style wise plus the psychological thing. It would be a big fight but again, high risk for both Gary Shaw and Vic Darchinyan.
And for the record.. I think Donaire's name is big enough. He owns a KO of the year award and may have been talked about more than Mijares does.

IDIOT who? chill bro.. nobody says arce is less or no fanbase.. idiot.. im just trying to prove that donaire is not a NO NAME FIGHTER... you label him no name and making excuse for darchi in not fighting him.. thats all what im only trying to say.. Ask Gary Shaw the promoter why he doesn't want Donaire for Darchi... idiot.. everybody knows why.. Thats ducking in highest form because everybody is asking if he wants rematch and avenge his loss but you hear nothing..
