If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
Even if pac loses 10x after a win against pbf, believe me, it won't matter!
And the scenario in the boxing web sites:haters will be minimized, so are these pacfans who believe pac is through with his legacy with a win over pbf.
Pachaters and pacfans will gradually be spectators than contributors on every boxing sites coz that's what i'll see. A great chapter of pac's great journey is good to say aas "over." Save some threads savoring of what he has done even if he continues to fight after a win against pbf, even if he losses.. Even if he will have future fights after a pbf win, he had basically finished his career, nothing more to prove after that.
A 3rd fight with jmm doe'snt seem logical. Pac will beat him in the higher weight classes and i'm willing to bet that. Pac would fight jmm in the 147 pnd's im sure coz pbf proved he do'nt have business there!
A fight with mosley? If pac wins what credit would he have? Mosley will again be discredited as old and no longer in his prime just like the same excuses for all the fighters pac faced! Even if he loses it doe'snt matter. Pbf ducked mosley! So that makes a mosley victory sensible. Even so if shane wins, mosley won't overtake pac's overall achievements coz that pbf win is the great milestone! Sorry shane. If you only agreed for another fight with hoya than choosing winky before or agreed to fight void the ugly boy mayweather before this time in which he claims himself as the cash cow now you could have equalled pbf's resume. Plus time's running short and pac's really way smaller.
Paul Williams? If pac wins it doe'snt matter. It doe'snt overtake pac's win (if ever) with pbf. Pbf is much more decorated than williams. Williams is the avoided one is'nt he? But imo i think apac has a chance to beat him though.
And even if pac loses to mosley, williams or martinez the final explanation for that will be this reasonable FACT:
Pac faced odlh: tko, after 5 mo's hatton: tko after 6 mo's cotto tko. ALL ELITE FIGHTERS. Then after 3 mo's of the cotto fight: pbf.
The toll on pac's body during those wars are reasonable facts that pac would lose to mosley and williams if ever after a pbf fight,in the future. But still it won't matter IF PAC WINS AGAINST PBF: another gruelling fight.
Therefore, pac can retire coz that's a milestone for him if he beats pbf. Just like any monumental shrine around the globe. Even if he continues but loses ten fights after a win against pbf: so what? Pac already achieved too much that can't be matched by anyone for a loong time imo.
A win against pbf is an ultimate shrine for pac that can't be ruined. Pac must realize this. And this fight will also settle who's the best p4p of our generation. For those who get tired of pac nut huggers infesting boxing sites, if pac wins against pbf, this huggers will laylow and leave the limelight just as you wanted to. Nothing more to prove for pac, nothing more to debate for this pac fans or huggers.

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
all this will only prove that pacquiao is the best fighter in the 2000's that's all! it will get him to about number 20 p4p all-time but not any higher! still a great accomplishment!
-
Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
If Manny doesn't face James Toney then he has proven nothing upon this earth. James Toney is real meat.

He's almost unnanimously in the top 20 already from boxing historians.

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
Would love to see Pac fight SSM.
But truthfully Pac doesn't make it past PBF.

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
Whoa whoa wait a sec. 90% of the stuff on here talks about how crappy floyd is and now if pac beats him he's the new christ ???!!! Amazing. They have both pretty much beat the same guys.......ah nevermind. This shit gets more and more ridiculous every day. The only thing this fight is really good for is too see what idiotic shit people pull out of thier ass once floyd (like he always does) beats him. Then will people take floyd out of their mouth pull up his undies ...apologize and move on ??? Of course not they'll still say floyd ain't shit and hasn't proved anything till he beats a young berto. Then this guy then that guy blah blah ....Christ people that hate him are worse than his fans are

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
If Pac beats floyd he is in the top 5, maybe even 3, all time for me. Pac has always fought everyone and always wants to fight the best....Plus his style is to come at you and try and take you out and is class in and out of the ring......Cant ask for more than that.......
-
Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
Pac should fight Shane, and win a title at 154lb to finish.
-
Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
Yeah I could buy into that fight.

He's top ten already, if he beats Floyd he will be top 5, maybe top 3 behind Robinson and Ali.
He's won world titles in more weight divisions than any fighter in history. And he hasn't just moved up and boxed his way to decisions against paper belt champs like Roy did against Ruiz, he's moved up, fought the best and absolutely fucking smashed them.
Nobody in the history of boxing has done what Manny has done.
If he beat Floyd that would be an unbelievable acomplishment.

People's hate for Mayweather make them discredit his career. But anyone who isn't a complete hater knows he is one of the best to ever put on a pair of gloves. I just think he could've taken more challenges at welterweight because his abilities are such a waste if he doesn't test them against the best at the weight.

As of his win over Miguel Cotto PAC has been ranked at least a top 20 ATG.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFUQdY6Fx_M
If he beats a naturally bigger and undefeated ATG/gifted fighter like himself in PBF proves Manny should be in AT LEAST in the top 10 LOGICALLY.

Nobody denies PBF's greatness Nobody. It's just Floyd's lack of desire to fight legit great welters outside of Baldomir. His great wins over DelaHoya and Hatton on the other hand was overshadowed by stoppage wins of Manny over them. Beating a lightweight in Marquez is great but stopping a bigger stronger and younger Cotto is greater.

Really? You're telling me that you don't know how good Mayweather is?
He was supposed to lose to Corrales but he destroyed him. He fought a very close fight with Castillo the first time with an injury and dominated him the second time around. He embarrassed Gatti, not beat, embarrassed. He beat De La Hoya when they fought at Oscar's weight.
Mayweather has rarely been hit flush, but he not only beats his opponents, he makes them look really bad.
I don't even know why I'm replying to this. If you honestly think Mayweather isn't one of the most skilled ever, then you need to go back and watch his fights again.
I criticize Floyd for what he's done at welterweight, but before then, he had one hell of a career.

Bullshit...cotto while game, was nothing but a paper champ as shane mosely is the real WW champ and the fight was contested with limitations. Roy didn't make Ruiz come down to 215.

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
If Pacquiao beats PBF I don't see any way he isn't at least considered to be in the top 10 ATG as a minimum. I'd probably argue for him being top 5 if he manages to beat Floyd. If he beats Floyd and Mosley (or whoever the linear Welterweight champion is) its a certainty. He is undeniably one of the greatest boxers to ever live.

Cotto was a paper champ? And this despite having a win over Mosely, the guy you rate as the champ? :vd:
Cotto had only lost once in his career, and that to a fighter who most likely had plaster of paris in his gloves.
Manny's win was nothing short of sensational. Remember he started out as a fucking straw weight! Imagine if Nonito Donaire moved up from flyweight to junior bantam, to super bantam, to feather weight, to super feather, to lightweight, to junior welter and then to welter beating a string of Hall of Fame and p4p worthy fighters on the way.
It's amazing what Manny has done, NOBODY else in the history of boxing has moved up ten weight classes and destroyed a reigning champ, NOBODY.

And many people also believed shane would kayo cotto in a rematch before he lost to manny.
Margarito didnt not have plaster in his gloves...cotto fought and lost the unification bout to margo...shane beat mago this makes shane the world recognized WW champ. Cotto picked up a strap that was thrown away by Paul Williams...
True manny moved up ten weight classes because the smaller weight classes are divided by less weight.
154-HW is the same amount of weight gained...

no man you dont get it, i myself think that pbf will school pac. i know how good he is but alot of people think that pbf picks his opponents, he always have the upper hand. i still think he dances too much in the ring and is overall a boring boxer, but defense wise he is a genius.
again, an average boxer will look really good against a weak boxer. so how can we be certain that pbf is really that good when he hasnt fought the best? atleast in pacs case he beat dlh and hatton way better than pbf he fought cotto which is bigger as compared with pbf fighting a small guy in marquez.
do you get it now???

sorry...we forgot you were in Margarito's dressing room while he got his hands wrapped against Cotto...:rolleyes::rolleyes:
only paper title Pacquiao has won is his title at 135, when he beat the bum that is David Diaz, only complaint anyone can have about the Cotto fight is the BS catchweight, although it wouldn't have made much a difference seeing how Cotto would have the same incompetent corner of yes men, and would basically of came in with the same strategy of slugging instead of effectively working behind the jab, Pacquiao isn't the welterweight champion of the world, he's just a title holder, but even that given the type of fights he's been in and the level of opposition he's faced, it's pretty ridiculous to make so many excuses to try and discredit his accomplishments only to heighten Floyd's, that said Mayweather shuts out Pacquiao or stops him late
-
Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
If PAC gets past Mayweather I can see only one fight for him at 147lb imo. Paul Williams. Yes it would be a freakshow but after him there is absolutely nobody left that legacy wise he would need to face.

Oh yeah I forgot you were there too so you can definitively say he cheated giving you and everyone else who was on the "cotto could only be beaten if someone cheated bandwagon." When the blueprint was laid by shane. See I dont remember Margo being suspended for the Cotto fight, so please with the boot strapping.
I remember on this forum after he fought shane, it was pointed out that because he ran from shane in last quarter of the fight that there was no way he was finishing against Margarito. Which turned out to be true. Then all of a sudden people needed to believe cotto was cheated. When actually it was clear then. Put Cotto in the ring with men that can withstand his punches and apply pressure on him and he'll lose. MARGO and PAC were able to stop him. Him managed to escape shane but many feel he would have been kayoed anyway in a rematch long before pac got to him. And its a FACT that his belt was a vacated belt by paul williams. Cotto was a paper champ at WW period. Nothing you or anyone else says will change that.
Because if the belt PAC got from DIAZ was a paper belt, then the one he got from cotto is same because they were both vacated by the real champs at the time. Although Casamayor was stripped.

first off nowhere in my post did i say that he was cheated, but no one knows if Margarito had plaster or didn't in the Cotto fight, so to say with "certainty" is pretty stupid
when the fuck did Cotto run from Mosley? he fought a more defensive type fight for the last 2 rounds cause Shane was coming on, but it was a clear cut win for Cotto, and neither Pacquiao nor Margarito fought the same type of fight Shane did, so to say he put the blueprint out there is ridiculous
FACT is was caught trying to cheat, and well no one really knows when he first did it or if it was the only fight he did it in, so pretty much any win of significance on his record now has a big * next to it, not only Cotto, but Cintron, Clottey, hell even Lujan
also when the fuck was Paul Williams the lineal welter weight champ? cause what i remember is Mayweather winning the lineal title from Baldomir and the title was vacated when he retired, only to have Mosley take it once he battered Margarito around, and on to David Diaz, the lineal champ at that time was Casamayor, Diaz only had the title cause the WBC stripped Casamayor of the strap (which he had won against Corrales R.I.P) and handed it Diaz since he was the "interim champion", so there's a HUGE difference between the two cases, at least Cotto actually fought for the title (albeit against crappy opposition in Jennings) instead of just having it handed to him without even fighting, hence the reasoning why Diaz should be classified as a "paper champ" and Cotto not

only paper title Pacquiao has won is his title at 135, when he beat the bum that is David Diaz, only complaint anyone can have about the Cotto fight is the BS catchweight, although it wouldn't have made much a difference seeing how Cotto would have the same incompetent corner of yes men, and would basically of came in with the same strategy of slugging instead of effectively working behind the jab, Pacquiao isn't the welterweight champion of the world, he's just a title holder, but even that given the type of fights he's been in and the level of opposition he's faced, it's pretty ridiculous to make so many excuses to try and discredit his accomplishments only to heighten Floyd's, that said Mayweather shuts out Pacquiao or stops him late

The WBO belt was never apart of the lineal belts mayweather won which is the belt Cotto had before PAC took it...
THE WBO belt, MARGO had it WILLIAMS beat him and took it then vacated it. Margo then took IBF from CINTRON then unified the WBA by beating Cotto.
Cotto fought for a VACATED title against Jennings..He did not take the belt from anyone which makes him a paper champ as the real Champ or title holder VACATED it. Cotto didn't not beat MARGARITO or WILLIAMS to earn his belt. Those were the champions of the respective belts. With MArgo being the world recognized #1 WW champ which passed to Shane after Shane beat him.

you're getting lineal mixed up with undisputed (damn theres a retarded number of different "type" of champions hahaha), you don't have to be undisputed to be the lineal champ, Floyd ONLY won the WBC and was considered the LINEAL CHAMPION, and that was vacated when Floyd retired, Mosley is now considered the LINEAL CHAMP after he beat Margarito, it isn't an actual belt, Margarito held the IBF title he won from Cintron and Williams held the WBO title he won from Quintana (a guy Cotto had already beaten). Williams was never the Lineal Welterweight Champion, hence making him as much of a "paper champ" as the rest :-\, or at least using your logic

Williams won his belt from Magarito, lost it to Quintana only to regain it from quintana then vacated it. Which is still the belt that Cotto picked up out of the trash can..bottom line
in the little WW scheme of things (not including floyd)...margarito and cotto fought to find out who was the best WW. Margarito won. Margarito fought shane. Shane beat Maragrito thus making him the best WW. Everything else after that is secondary. Now if you bring floyd back into the equation, Cotto before he fought pacman was no higher than third in the WW division, belt or not he was behind SHANE MARGO and floyd. Now he's behind PACMAN TOO. PACMAN deserves all credit for his win over hatton and cotto, but he is no way the best WW because he beat Cotto.

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
If pac beats floyd and i believe he will, he will be top 5 all time imo. To say that he would just be top 20 all time is ridiculous. Pac will have nothing more to prove. He could retire , be a legend, and probably become president of the phillipines. I would hate to see him quit though when he is still so freakin good, but it would be nice to see him quit on top of the world.

I criticize Floyd for what he's done at welterweight, but before then, he had one hell of a career.
no man you dont get it, i myself think that pbf will school pac. i know how good he is but alot of people think that pbf picks his opponents, he always have the upper hand. i still think he dances too much in the ring and is overall a boring boxer, but defense wise he is a genius.
again, an average boxer will look really good against a weak boxer. so how can we be certain that pbf is really that good when he hasnt fought the best? atleast in pacs case he beat dlh and hatton way better than pbf he fought cotto which is bigger as compared with pbf fighting a small guy in marquez.
do you get it now???
No, he's right. I understand what you're attempting to say, but ultimately it holds no weight. Neither does the fact that Pac beat the same guys "way better" than Mayweather.
He's talking about overall skill level. If you can't see that, based upon just overall skill, Mayweather is one of, if not the best, boxer of our generation then you're hating. I ain't accusing you of such, but theres no other reason why one could see the skill Mayweather shows and still believe there are questions yet to be answered.
The "picks his opponents" thing only works for recent fights, although I dont buy it myself. What about all that he did at his lighter weights? 130 especially.
I would understand if Mayweather eeked by with victories but he totally outclasses his opponents. Even makes them look foolish. There is no way a "questionable" boxer could do that.
Your Naz comparison is false also. Everyone knew after the Kelly fight that Naz had holes in his arsenal. Hell, even Pacquiao has holes in his arsenal. Mayweather has never shown any holes in his arsenal and he's been in there with some of the greats.
You either admit, skill wise, he's one of the GOATS by now or you'll never ever believe it no matter what he does.

Re: If pac beats pbf is there nothing more to prove for him?
In relation to a few posts earlier about Margarito's wraps. How can anybody think he didn't have dodgy wraps against Cotto. Cotto was the biggest fight of his career, why would he use dodgy wraps against Mosely, but not Cotto? Especially bearing in mind he beat Cotto? So he beats Cotto fair and square and then tampers with his wraps to fight Mosely who beat Cotto  Look at Cotto's face, did his face look like that after the Pc fight? No!
Margarito is a cheat and should be banned for life!

Saying top 20 is definitely not ridiculous, that's still a great honor. There have been amazing careers of the past. You are obviously not schooled in boxing history. If he beat Marquez just once convincingly, beat Floyd, beat the winner of Mosley/Berto, and did it in spectacular form or showing great heart, then maybe I'd call him top 5. Until then, names like Robinson, Ali, Armstrong, Louis, Duran, Leonard, Johnson, Dempsey, Marciano, etc, belong ahead of Pacquiao. That's not to say Pacquiao isn't great, he obviously is. To have your name even mentioned in relation to those names is a great accomplishment.

Actually I am schooled in boxing history and it is my opinion that Pac-Man should be top 5 if he wins this bout and ahead of several of the names that you mentioned.

If Manny beats Floyd he's only top 20 p4p.....really?
He's top ten already, if he beats Floyd he will be top 5, maybe top 3 behind Robinson and Ali.
He's won world titles in more weight divisions than any fighter in history. And he hasn't just moved up and boxed his way to decisions against paper belt champs like
Roy did against Ruiz, he's moved up, fought the best and absolutely fucking smashed them.
Nobody in the history of boxing has done what Manny has done.
If he beat Floyd that would be an unbelievable acomplishment.
Bullshit...cotto while game, was nothing but a paper champ as shane mosely is the real WW champ and the fight was contested with limitations. Roy didn't make Ruiz come down to 215.
yeah and niether did pacquiao make cotto come down to 135 which is PACS' natural weight?? right???

Fair enough. You're entitled to your opinion, although I would find it very hard to argue his name past any of those, never mind top 5.

That's just ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. Firstly you can't compare Jones' HW title achievement to this, two totally different things.
Secondly, Pacquiao did make Cotto (already a larger WW that has had trouble with his weight in the past), come down in weight to fight for a title that should've been contested at 147. Would it have made the difference in the fight? Even as a Cotto fan, I'm not sure it would've. An incompetent corner and a beating from Margacheato a year prior, were the icing on the cake. Still, the extra weight would've made it more competitive and definitely wouldn't have hurt his chances.

Where did it say in the fight that Cotto could not come at 147? As far as I know, Roach said that Cotto can come to as high as 147. The 145 catchweight is a private contract between the two parties. Cotto could have come at 147 and the fight would still continue.
It was Cotto's decision to come at 145. He agreed coz he knows he can come to that weight. No one put a gun on his head and blaming the weight is purely disrespecting what Pac had done.
I hope you know what you're saying or you're just playing a pure Pac hater.

But Cotto would've had to pay 1 million for every pound in excess of 145. Without punishment, it was capped at 145.
Just stating facts. It means nothing to me. I give Pacquiao all the credit in the world for beating Cotto just like I give all the credit in the world to Mayweather for beating Marquez.
