Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
"According to our rules, holding a unification fight, as i said earlier, has priority over a mandatory defense" - Lindsey Tucker - Chairman IBF
This is great news and they also say that the Povetkin fight (Klit) has been pushed back to a later date

"Bitch out" ?
He pulled out because he wasn't going to get paid.
This'll happen 100%

Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
Well that is good to hear, lets hope this fight gets made.

well i'm not the one walking around talking shit and throwing out golden lines like "i'd fight him (Wlad) for free", as i said over and over, if Haye was a big as a name in the UK he shouldn't have had a problem making sales and getting paid
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
This is great news, hopefully it all comes together. Haye is a polarizing figure, but like him or not he has brought a ton of excitement and interest back to the Heavyweight division, something that has been lacking for years.
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
Like someone has posted, I'm not getting my hopes up till it's all signed up but this to me just confirms that Haye isn't scared about fighting either brother.
Anyone with half a brain cell knows the circumstances as to why Haye backed out of the fights with the brothers. He didn't feel he was getting a fair deal at the negotiating table (rightly or wrongly) so he fought Valuev to get the only belt that the Klitchko's didn't have and one they desperately wanted. After that he had to fight Ruiz as he stepped aside for Haye to fight Valuev with Ruiz fighting the winner. What's so difficult to understand?
There was a thread on here about a week ago about Haye taking a rest and all the haters jumped on the bandwagon saying he's a pussy and he'll never fight a Klitchko. I think a lot of those people will actually end up looking stupid because I'm 100% convinced he'll fight a Klitchko and he'll end up fighting them pretty soon. All he ever wanted from the start was to not be taken the piss out of. David felt their demands were unreasonable but to be honest they were the HW champs and he was a nobody in the HW division so they had every right to demand what they wanted. Now David's a 2 weight world champion and also has a version of the HW belt lets make this a 50-50 split. If Wlad or Vitali are that confident of beating Haye I'm sure they won't mind losing 10% of the purse to fight him.
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
Good stuff...I wanna see Haye vs Wladimir.
Fair enough people are asking how will Haye handle a big puncher and a boxer like Wladimir but a question should also be asked of Wlad
How will Wlad handle finally fighting a heavyweight boxer who is in GOOD SHAPE and not a blown up cruiser or a past-prime heavyweight?
Lot's of questions to be answered and I don't think he answered it when he fought Ibragimov
-

Great post chris, all true mate. He made a smart move, anything said other wise is nothing but hate i feel

Absolutely spot on Chris

Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
Way to many Haye haters out there. I am not a huge Haye fan but he has the tools and the charisma. I'm rooting for him, to be honest. I think there's a really good chance he fights one of them and I think it'd be great for the division. I'd kind of be gutted if the fights were to never take place because there's nobody close to Wlad/Vitali's level in the division and I think Haye'd make a good go of it.
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
If Haye hasnt go Wlad out of there early, say before the 5th, i'd say he is then fucked, and will get bludgeoned by the jab.
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
Honestly I think haye knocks wlad the fuck out. No no I ain't crazy. I just think wlad has been so dominant against guys lately that they see that and think yeah, Hayes another small heavyweight and wlad will jab him to death like the rest of em. Wrong. Haye is far above anyone wlad has fought for along time, in terms of heart, skill, speed, punch power and cojones. honestly I think haye rapes his ass.
Job biscuit (what if we dreamed the impossible, what if the impossible came true, yeah motherfukker. Then we could ram All that bullshit down the throats of all them doubters. Only god can judge. When all is said and done, I no ur name will remain throughout the echo of history. Amen my brother)

I dont think that is the question really. Now it is probably not a good idea for Haye to fight a Klit for free, and if that was going to happen then fine. Dont make up shit about being injured tho, just say the deal fell thru and u werent getting paid. No matter how u spin it Haye has had contracts with both Klits and hasn't managed to fight either yet.
It is ridiculous to ask El Terrible if he would fight Klit for free, because he is not a world class boxer/athlete like Haye is. El Terrible has also not told the media he would beat the Klits easily, and that he would fight them for free as Haye has done in the past.
I believe Haye is as good a chance as anyone to beat the Klits but i cant see him doing it.
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
This is not the same Wlad that fought Corrie Sanders. Wlad would have KOd sanders in that fight if he used his current technique. Haye talks the talk about going after Wlad and using speed to KO him but when Haye eats that first jab, he will realize Wlad aint no joke......
I say Wlad brutal KO (ala Calvin Brock) round number 7.

I don't think you're getting it. Setanta was the source of income for this fight for Haye. He wasn't getting much if anything from the gate receipts or anything from any other tv broadcast. Only Setanta, because that's the deal the Klitschko's team put on the table.
Given he still has to pay training expenses etc, unless he was going to stand outside the stadium in Schalke selling t-shirts, he wasn't going to get paid for the fight. It doesn't matter how popular he is, because the only company that were really paying him went bankrupt.
So, please explain to me where he could 'make sales and get paid?'

He wouldn't have legally been allowed to disclose information about Setanta at the time, hence the fake injury.

Why does he have to? If he confirms he was lying, people are going to be skeptical if he has to pull out of another fight.
Plus it matters little anyway. He went away, travelled to Germany to pick up a belt. Defended it in an exciting fight in a sold out, 20,000 capacity arena. Now he has more power at the negotiating table, and negotiations are under way for the fight. I don't see what he's got to aplogise for.

Does it really fucking matter??
We have a potential superfight in the HW division set to be signed in the next month and your bitching about little details that happened last year.
Haye is on board with Sky now and is the biggest named sports star in Britain at the minute, he has absolutley nothing to pull out for again and the fight WILL go ahead this time as long as the Klits don't demand 12 fucking rematches.
Why not whine about them circumstances instead of Hayes faults for once?? I've never heard anything like it..... "If you (haye) beat Wlad you must then fight his brother and then fight Wlad and then fight Vitali again". If that had happened none of them would have held a title by the end of it. It was pathetic.

Exactly, i love how nobody seems arsed that Klitschko demanded a rematch, plus a fight with Vitali (for Haye), aswell as 100% of the gate receipts, and 100% of the non-British tv broadcasts.
I mean you could even make a case for Klitschko not really wanting the fight. I'm not going to because it's boring and in any case, they're negotiating again anyway. What will be will be.
-
Re: Haye v Klit - Negotiations underway confirms IBF
I'd rather he fought Vitali first, I think he beats him and in style. Wlad on the other hand is just too skilled & disciplined and I can only see it ending badly for him sadly.

Yes....but nothing related to this fight!
Personally, I reckon the WladHaye unification is inevitable in terms of the interest in the fight, and the lack of credible opposition for the Klitschko's mean it's the obvious fight to make.
They can continue making the same Klitschko fights until they retire, but it will be a big challenge ducked if neither brother faces Haye, even if it is just to beat him from behind the jab.

Probably the biggest boxing star from the UK (I'd still speculate that Mayweather & maybe Pacquiao are bigger here), but he's nowhere near the level of any of the top name footballers. In terms of name recognition, I reckon he's still below a few of the rugby and cricket players as well.

You think Floyd and Manny are bigger stars in the UK than David Haye?
I doubt any more than 15% of the population even know who Floyd and Manny are :-\

I think you'd be surprised. People might not watch them fight, but I think they've both embedded into the public consciousness as boxers. Part of that may be the name. I'm seeing a lot more excitement for the Mayweather fight this weekend than there was for Haye-Ruiz or even Haye-Valuev. I'm not saying the PPV would do better, but that they have more name recognition with the average person.

Difference is my mum and Grandma both know who David Haye is. I know they don't know who Kevin Pietersen, Johnny Wilkinson and Floyd Mayweather are. Even Rio Ferdinand says that Haye is the biggest named sports star in the country.
Only one I think challenges him is Rooney. Also maybe Ricky Hatton, his support is amazing. Man utd couldn't take as many fans to Vegas as he does and there is a full team of them. If Haye keeps bowling them over like he is he'll have the same support if not better because he is in the glamour division of boxing and he is exciting to watch.

That will be the first HW fight i've honestly really looked forward to in at least the last 3 or 4 years..

Sorry he's just nowhere near the likes of Rooney, Gerrard & Terry. I'd argue that both Flintoff & Wilkinson are also both ahead of him. It may be that your mum & nan know who Haye is through you being a fan and going to his fights. My mum needs reminding about who David Haye is despite the fact I've told her a number of times that he even came from the same gym as me. On the other hand, she'd know Floyd Mayweather & Shane Mosley are instantly because when I was growing up I was such a big fan of both of them.
Just generally with people I've met in the area I live in (South London, Haye's own area) Mayweather definitely has a quicker recognition factor, maybe because he's got a more individual name.

Just people talking about it on facebook and twitter. I agree it hasn't had much mention in the press, in contrast Froch did, but nobody was talking about it.

Sorry Jaz but Haye-Valuev was everywhere. It was all over the papers, all over most TV stations and then after he won it, it was similar to when Lennox beat Evander. Every back page (and a lot of front) was filled with Haye for 4-5 days after the fight. It sold just short of 1 million ppv's on Sky which when you think there are 5 times as many people in the U.S. as Britain and they are doing brilliantly to sell 2 million PPV's is quite astounding IMO. I don't think 1 million people would buy a Football match between Man Utd and Liverpool or Chelsea for £15.
Although I could probably agree that Rooney, Giggs and Gerrard may well be more well known at the minute when I sit back and think about it. Haye in the next 12 months has the potential to leave them in the dust both in Britain and worldwide.

Haye-Valuev was everywhere I agree, maybe outside of London it's different, but here Mayweather is bigger certainly with people under 25. He can be big, but football will always be the #1 game in this country and he will never surpass the biggest names there. I love boxing, but football players are our superstars, people might not pay £15 for a normal game, but I bet you'd have in the many millions who'd pay to watch the FA Cup Final, it's just all the biggest football games are actually protected to be on free tv.

So do you think any footballer in history has been more famous than Ali then?? I'm really interested to hear your opinion on this.
