Pac's not ready for Floyd....
I hate to admit it but let's just take a look see at who he has fought....
Pac: Hatton, De la Hoya, Cotto
None of those guys are great on defense, none of those guys have fast hands, none of those guys move their heads, none of those guys counter very well, and their footwork is very slow.
Have we been seeing an optical illusion? Does Manny look fast as hell because everyone he fights isn't that fast and so Manny looks like the Flash when he's fighting?
Whatever the reason, just looking at who he has fought building up to this fight it doesn't instill me with much confidence, I'm pulling for Pac but I have to say Floyd is going to win by KO.

If he's not ready now he'll never be ready, because he's at his peak right now.

Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
That is true no doubt, but I was talking to 1 of my friends about this matchup and I said that I think Floyd takes out Pacquiao and he said what were my reasons, I stated he look spectacular in the Marquez and Mosley fights while Pacquiao's opponents had question marks next to them as in being shot, weight drain, over the hill, which were making him look great.
Then he said the same thing could be said about Mayweather's recent opponents. He countered that Marquez was a 36 year old jumping 2 weight classes and who was going life and death at LW against his opponents so Marquez looking great at welter was out of the question, Mosley although being the number 1 welter in the world was 38 years old and only looked good in the Margarito fight in the last few years plus the 16 months of inactivity is also factored in.
He made great points to countered me, and he also stated that Floyd will be close to 34 years old when the fight happens, and at that age your reflexes will start to dull, so in other words I'm going to have to revised my thinking and I now only slightly favor Floyd by a split Decision now as opposed to I thought he would steam roll Pacquiao to a UD or late stoppage.
I don't know it's just hard to predict. We'll just have to wait and see.
-
It's the way he's beat them tho, he's murdered his last 4 opponents, he's the only legitimate challenge to floyd, like icb said if he's not ready now he'll never be ready. I expect floyd to prevail tho

Spot on. Are we meant to wait another year or two? ;D

Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
I'm a Pacquiao fan yet I have doubts in him everytime he fights someone new. I thought De La Hoya, Hatton, and Cotto were going to rough him up but I was wrong each time.
Mayweather just has too many advantages over him. He's bigger than him, faster and smarter. Floyd has the power to hurt and KO Manny, he has the style to frustrate him, each time Floyd fights, I just can never see him losing. The only thing Manny has is whenever I doubt him, he shows me why I'm a fan. If anyone has a good shot beating Floyd, it's Manny.

I still give Manny the credits for fighting and beating those guys you mentioned. This is the reason why Pac vs Money should happen. This two guys both have the skills that we can only see once a lifetime and what a privilege to see 2 of them go at it on the ring.
Manny is fast because he's fast. Thats he main assest and everone on his camp admits right before each fight that Manny's main weapon will be speed. Hoya, Hatton and Cotto might lack speed but odd makers and fight fans did give them some advantages before the fight like Hoya being too big and will kill Pac if he hits him, or Hatton will push and bully Pac around and then Cotto will be able to absorb pac's punches. All those stuffs prove that all pac fought them at a high level of competition that it can go either way. It adds up to the excitement though.

Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
He's in his 30's, if he isn't ready now then he will never be ready.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
My question is: Who is ready for Floyd? Pacquaio is ready, it's a question of whether he is good enough to win. Mayweather showed a sign of himself we have never seen before in his fight with Mosley and it was impressive. He was in deep serious trouble in round 2 and instead of getting on his bike he simply went to plan B and never looked back. Pacman will have to be at the very top of his game to beat Mayweather, different angles, constant pressure, speed and power and yet i have a feeling Mayweather will find some way to counter all of this.

Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
Pac's ready , he'd make it competitive. Let's not get in too much in the Mayweather hype. Sure , he dominated an old Mosley . Not taking anything away from PBF, but Mosley was losing to Mayorga before the ko. So its a pic em fight imo
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
imo pacquiao is ready
- 15 years as professional boxer (floyd 13 years)
- 56 total fights (floyd 41 fights)
- 317 total rounds boxed (floyd 299)
- 68% ko (floyd 61% ko)
- 31 years old (floyd is 33 years old)
pacquiao is even more experienced than floyd as a boxer. he's ready.

True, Mayweather is good, but I'm not sold on the Mosley fight. There is always a way to beat a man who will not throw more than 40 punches a round.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
exactly , . Floyd was stunned by Mosley , and Pac is a fast starter , so he can catch Floyd early and change the whole fight. And I'll be the first one to say it
Pacman wins almost every round against Mosley .

Yeah, Pac would have eaten this version of Mosley for breakfast. Too old and hesitant by far. I actually think Pac is more than ready for Mayweather, the question is "is Mayweather ready for Pac?". I just can't see Mayweather winning enough rounds, he will need to KO Pac to guarantee the win and nobody has been hurting Pac recently. I don't care about facial bruising, nobody has been really hurting Manny. Sure, his output will be reduced, but no way you will see him throwing 30 punches a round like Mosley. Mayweather likes to wait and Manny is quick enough and active enough to make Mayweather pay.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
honestly , i think it'd be a close fight, but I'd still go with Mayweather. He's too big and skilled. but I wouldnt be money on this one . I've bet large amounts of cash on all of Mayweathers recent fights (on PBF) but this one is too close to call.

It's a tough one. I can see it going both ways, but both fighters have this uncanny knack of surprising you. I think too many are dismissing Manny on the back of the Mosley fight though. He will be a lot better than what Mosley was. Mosley always had a few question marks about him with the layoff and age.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
Well for sure these will be the excuses when 1 of them loses.
For Manny's supporters: Too small and jumping up too much in weight
For Floyd's supporters: Too old and ring rust
I'm sure these will be the excuses.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
Even if Pac is not ready the fight has to happen right away.
If Floyd dominates Manny then so be it but this should not take another year or so.
If Manny looks good againts tailor made opponents, How about Floyd?
A 36 yr old career featherweight and a 40 yr old 1 and a half year off from his last fight veteran. :o That is less impressive than Cotto and Clottey IMO.
I agree Floyd must be favored here but PAC is more dangerous when he is the underdog.

Thats true, ppl have been on Floyd on the front and on the back after the Mosley fight.

Mosley was 38, not 40 and he hasn't had a fight in 15 1/2 months not 18 months. There I just refuted it, now what do I get?;D

Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
I hope this fight happens as does every1 else lol. What makes this fight great you can ask 5 people and every1 has a different veiw of how Pac/Floyd will win.
I'am picking Floyd to stop Pac .He will me moving all night and picking Pac apart when he comes in which wont allow to get his combination off.
Pac will be very dangerous early though as Floyd struggles early but for this fight i see him been at the top of his game cause if Pac tags him he will stop him.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
I decided to watch a bit of Cotto vs Pac yesterday and i noticed that Pac was over reaching a lot with his punches i think Mayweather would counter punch his head off all night also when Cotto was on back foot Pac struggled to close him down.

No one has ever had to make excuses for Floyd yet.
if he gets beat, he gets beat. No excuses needed.
it's the others who always need excuses against Floyd.
But if Mayweather and Pac get in the ring together within the next year, neither of them should look for any excuses. One of them will lose, because the other will win. Pure and simple.
Of course, if Manny loses to Floyd, Miles will surely be looking for some kind of excuse. But most of the boxing world will simply recognize that Floyd's a better boxer.
i don't know who will win that fight; I haven't seen Manny in the ring nearly as much as i've seen Floyd, so I don't have a feel for him. I hope he brings Floyd his greatest challenge yet, because if he does, we'll see an incredible fight. we don't know how good Floyd can be. The better his opponent, the closer we come to finding that out.
If Manny brings out the very best in Floyd and still beats him ... well, then, that will be amazing and should qualify for one of the fights of the decade, if not the fight.
That's the kind of fight I want to see Floyd lose - where he was pressed to fight his best - which will be dazzling - and still unable to produce a victory.
Ring rust? Floyd? Is that why he did such a mediocre job against Mosely?

I guess this post prooves that having 26,000 posts still doesnt make you a guru. I'm really not sure where to start. Mosely was purely outboxed by Cotto so Im not sure where you get off in saying Cotto doesnt have fast hands and cant counter, no one was saying that before Pacquiao dismantled him. The ONLY thing that Cotto has ever lacked in is a solid chin. You didn't mention Clottey, who threw every bit as much as mosley did against Mayweather. I honestly don't remember Mosley throwing one meaningful shot after the second round. No one ever mentions Pac's fights with Morrales, Barrera, or JMM? JMM simply had no business being at Welterweight. In their respectable weight classes, pound for pound those three are better than an aged mosely, aged DLH and so on. I really don't know why you even brought DLH and Hatton into the topic. In case you forgot Floyd had a split decision win over Oscar who Pac TKO'ed. In case you forgot it took Floyd 10 rounds to knock Hatton out while it took Pac 2! Im not sure where your going with this? On top of every other bit of nonsense in this post, you think Mayweather KO's Pacquiao? In case you havn't noticed Pac doesn't get hit alot and when he does he simply throws his arms out horizontally as if to say, "is that all you got"? If an aged Mosely can tag Mayweather like he did in the second, then he's got a heck of a chance of being dropped by Manny. Honestly, everyone knows that if Pacquiao was in the ring in that second round he would have followed up that shot with about 20 more, and I can honestly say that even with Floyds unblemished record i wouldn't be suprised to see him be KO'ed. Pac has a killers instinct and theres no way he'll let Floyd recover his feet if and when he lands that big shot!;)

blah blah blah. anybody can get tagged, and power doesn't diminish particularly with age as do speed and endurance.
Does Manny hit as hard as Mosely?

"anybody can get tagged" ............. I agree
"power doesn't diminish particularly with age as do speed and endurance" ............ I disagree
"Does Manny hit as hard as Mosely?"
I would say the present Manny probably hits harder when compared with the 38 year old Mosley who had not fought in 15 months. I could not tell if compared with the young Mosley or the Mosley that battered Margarito.
But there is one way to find out, let Manny face the same target (Floyd) and let's see how hard he truly hits.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
PBF is the best boxer period. Manny has a punchers chance though and sometimes that is enough to turn the table.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
He is more then ready for PBF and has 1 helluva trainer to get him ready for battle. I just hope this fight happens. And if it does, the good big man will beat the good small man any day.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
Yes Pacquiao hits harder than Mosley, just ask Cotto! Does Mayweather being slightly taller really mean much in this fight? I don't think so. Mayweather will not be the aggressor in this fight and I just don't think he will be able to keep up with the output of Pac to win by decision. I'm confident Manny can take Floyds hardest shot, I cant say the same vice versa!
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
The other question that can be asked is: Who hits harder, Cotto or Mayweather? If you believe it's Cotto, then Floyd will be in a lot of trouble.

Because as we all know, punching power dictates who will win the fight. ;)
I like the logic here.
Mayweather, who has yet to lose a fight, could be in big trouble if he doesnt hit as hard as Cotto. Good stuff.
-
Re: Pac's not ready for Floyd....
Relentless attacks from a quick power punching southpaw is the key to beat Floyd. Non-stop aggression baby. Pac has all the tools to beat him. ;)

Did I say in my post that Manny will win the fight if Mayweather does not hit harder than Cotto? Read again. I did not see the logic in your response.
Manny can definitely hurt Floyd and if Floyd can not hurt Manny, then he will be in a lot of trouble.
Someone's face can be busted and yet wins the fight.
