Domestic violence is not unheard of in this country and the worst thing a foreign person can do is try to be the hero. As much as it pains me I would walk away. I cannot solve their problems and me punching someone is only going to land me in prison or with a hefty blood money fine. He/she/they should know better and work out their own problems, I have my own relationship to try and deal with.

thats whats wrong with society today. No fucker helps anyone out even when in obvious danger. It really sickens me. What on earth has happened to the Dunkirk spirit in this country.
The other day I did actually see a young woman getting beaten up in Leeds city centre. Broad daylight and just after lunchtime. I stood and watched for a good fiftyeen minutes before someone had the decency to intervene and try and help.

Miles surly you could slip over next to them drag him onto one leg and break it for him with a body roll or stomp. You dont have to be nice or heroic in a all British fisty cuffs style. Pour a fresh hot coffee or squid juice or whatever you drink over there down his fucking back, anything. :) Cigarette lighter turned up high to the hair for a disraction before you stomp his foot and break all his toes.

Mate to be fair I agree with Miles not getting involved. If its not his wife beating the piss out of him he's harming himself with kitchen appliances, he doesnt need strangers beating him up too.

If it was as aggresive as that then clearly I would try and help, but quarreling and a slap, I would rather not get involved. She/he should learn their lesson and get out of the relationship. It is not down to me to be a hero and find that I am the one being taken down for assault.

I think it is the correct thing to do and in the UK would do so, but not here. There have been stories of teachers getting involved after seeing a couple fighting and then when the teacher challenges the guy the woman starts to attack the teacher. And then if the police are called both gang up on the teacher. It doesn't pay to get involved in a different society where you are always looked at as the outsider. It's okay for me really with my permanent residency, but for an average teacher it will mean immediate deportation. For me it will mean a huge fine for damages and possible prison time. And all because a couple are being stupid and she gets a slap. Like I said to Ghost if it was really serious then of course I would help, but it would need to be pretty serious and violent. Not just a slap. In my experience women are more violent than men. I would never think to raise my hand to someone. Over emotional nutters.

I was in this situation once about 16 years ago.
I was only a wee lad maybe 21 or so and it was outside my college.
Some lad was pushing his girl/ex and calling her names and threatening her, she was screaming at him to get off her and nobody did anything.
Everyone put their heads down and walked cowardly by.
I spoke to this one guy and said should'nt we do something, and he said 'Just let them get on with it', so I heroically intervened myself.
I scuttled up behind him, and making sure I sure I still within the fleeing zone, I told him to stop threatening her. First off all he ignored me completely, then after a couple more 'warnings' to stop he turned around and said 'Look fuck off or I'll smash your head in'.
I held my ground and told him I would call the police, and then he just ignored me but stopped pushing her and they settled down.
My bravery saved the day but didn't even get a word of thanks from the girl.
Fucking wanted to punch her myself after that.

this is probably where being a woman comes in handy.
I've intervened on a couple of occasions. Never had to hit anyone. Usually the distraction of an extremely verbally aggressive woman takes them off guard. It's only after I do think I could have got in to a bit of trouble there. :-\:D
I once lept out of a car at some traffic lights in the middle of manchester, ran in to a park to yell at some youth who was impressively dragging - and I do mean dragging a puppy. He stopped.:cool:

It happened around 10 yrs. ago. but not a woman a man was being beaten up by about 6 men. And his shirt is already full of blood.
I am with one very small friend around only 5'1 im about 5'11 but not really muscled and all. I told my friend we need to help this man.

I must be backwards on this then, I just dont see the difference in domestic or if they know one another. By the time you determine her relationship status and run a check list she's already a black and blue mess laying on the ground. Chances are if you have to think on it, its not gonna happen...one of those situations that takes over and you jump in. Instinct. Not trying to sound a Hollier than thou twat but I don't care if she thanks me or not or turns, its not 'for her' as much as he needs a beating for punching women in the face. If it was a child or an elder would it matter as well?

Yeah I totally understand. I guess i'm speaking from experience where luckily i've never seen actual violence just real vile language threatening behaviour.

Yes, help.
I once stepped in to help a teenage girl being attacked by 6 guys. I saved her, but unfortunately they turned on me, and I was beaten very badly, but I'm sure I would be dead, if it wasn't for two men that came running to my aid with a shotgun and a baseball bat. They saved my life, and I'm forever thankful for them helping me.
Would I do it again, after what happened to me, yes I would.
