Domestic violence is not unheard of in this country and the worst thing a foreign person can do is try to be the hero. As much as it pains me I would walk away. I cannot solve their problems and me punching someone is only going to land me in prison or with a hefty blood money fine. He/she/they should know better and work out their own problems, I have my own relationship to try and deal with.

I was in this situation once about 16 years ago.

I was only a wee lad maybe 21 or so and it was outside my college.

Some lad was pushing his girl/ex and calling her names and threatening her, she was screaming at him to get off her and nobody did anything.

Everyone put their heads down and walked cowardly by.

I spoke to this one guy and said should'nt we do something, and he said 'Just let them get on with it', so I heroically intervened myself.

I scuttled up behind him, and making sure I sure I still within the fleeing zone, I told him to stop threatening her. First off all he ignored me completely, then after a couple more 'warnings' to stop he turned around and said 'Look fuck off or I'll smash your head in'.

I held my ground and told him I would call the police, and then he just ignored me but stopped pushing her and they settled down.

My bravery saved the day but didn't even get a word of thanks from the girl.

Fucking wanted to punch her myself after that.
