Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao

I would like the thread title to be updated to also say "And tells the truth of the useless JOE CORTEZ!"

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
To tell you the truth, i've heard this Dana person talked about on here a bunch of times, but this is the first time i've personally seen his face or heard him speak, and so far, i'm impressed!!! I guess people's problem with him in the past is that he throws a lot of sh!t, but for the one time i've now seen him do it, it has landed directly on point as far as i'm concerned...
Cortez either has no control over a fight these days, or sets out to have more control than the fighters (DURING THE ACTION)...
Let me guess how it goes,,,, name the three biggest fights that will happen in 2012, and I will name the guy who'll ref them..

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
Not a fan of Dana White but he is spot on.

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
I'm really having a hard time understanding what the problem is. Cortez put his hands together and said "lets go" anything that happened after that is up to the fighters.

You ask people to follow your antics and then pay a lot of money? You finish a fight properly. Floyd was bang out of order and it astonishes me how people are defending him. It shows our societies are full of sick fucks who would headbutt their own grandmothers for a free takeaway.
"A cheap shot, so what? Cortez the retard baldy clapped his hands."
The fact that he was once again in a big Mayweather bout should answer all questions. He fucked over Hatton too.

It's laughable that people blame Mayweather more than Ortiz. The head butt was a cheap shot. And if Ortiz had done his homework, he would have expected Mayweather to come out swinging after they touched gloves.
Floyd did nothing wrong.

I like Dana White.
He speaks his mind and does not mind upsetting people to do so.
What he said there was spot on.

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
I just want the fight to happen but Pac Man is right to refuse bending over backwards to the whim of Floyd who is making up new rules. They have agreed the 50-50 cut but these negotiations have been going on for years. Floyd wants Pac Man to not stay in Philippines, Pac Man could equally say no pain killers in your hands. It will go on and on, Pac fighting his Top Rank stable and Floyd fighting every 18 months.

watch Floyd vs Mosley. He does it in that fight. lol

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
Miles a lot of fighters would do what Mayweather did in that situation, I think you're way off there. It's Ortiz's antics that are really rare in a big prizefight like that, hence the whole scenario being unusual. He blatantly headbutts him in the clinch, then expects Mayweather to touch gloves twice, and then give him another hug after the ref says fight on:confused:. He was nowhere near ready for the mental aspect of that stage and never will be I suspect. Having said that Cortez wasn't clear and is a terrible referee for the most part granted. I feel Ortiz would've been staring at just about any ref like a dope no matter how loud he called the fight on or how engaged he was though. I like everything Dana White says on this matter in fact, even though I think he's an assclown.

A dirty game from three dirty players. Good old Cortez done it again so I was not suprised on his behalf. Did not expect that from Ortiz, did not think he was like that. If Cortez took a point off earlier when he was putting his head in we might not be having this conversation. A dirty headbut out of frustration is still a dirty headbut, totally lost respect for him. And Mayweathers sucker punches, came so quick after the hug, thats a cowardly shot. Would have probably been ok with him if that was it. He got a cheap shot back and was happy to get a bit of revenge. But the full on knock out blow afterwards. Where has the honour gone in boxing when something like this is overlooked.

So what your saying is once the ref starts the bout, he's no longer needed again until the end of the round, when it's his job to stop it? So he can go play cards with one of the commentators for a couple of minutes during and in between rounds??
Of f'n course when fighters are told to fight, they are responsible for themselves.. Did anyone including Dana say anything different? Why does everyone who hears Cortez being criticized for this fight, automatically think it's just someone who wanted Ortiz to win and feels Cortez lost it for him..... Ortiz lost it for himself. Dana even said that.
It's all the rest of Cortez's in-competencies in question here.. The ref has more of a job to do than just call time in and out...

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
I didn't watch. Most people dont like Dana because he represents the UFC.
Dana is a great promoter and has done outstanding things for MMA.He is loud and crass but the guy can walk the walk and always has.
If Dana in this case is jawing about Floyd demanding olympic style drug testing and why then I whole heartedly disagree with him. Boxers are independent contractors who fight on a contract by contract basis. They dont fight for an organization like the UFC they are left on their own to protect their own interests.
If fighters can stipulate glove styles and ring sizes in a contract, than I see nothing wrong with enhanced drug testing. If we learned anything from Balco, its pretty obvious that steroids and performance enhancements are far removed from the Schwartzenegger days of the 70's and 80's. so a whizz quiz isint going to cut it anymore and has been outdated for atleast 15 plus years. With a whizz quiz you are going to catch the small fish of the boxing world who dont have the resources for the big time stuff and the specialist to map out the schedule and formulate for their specific body. For the big time guys who have the resources a whizz quiz is like trying to catch a sword fish with a bass rod.
I am pretty leery of a fighter who wont get blood drawn for the biggest fight and legacy along with over 50 million dollars a piece.

Unfortunately I feel the same way.... The mess between Pac and Mayweather, the two biggest names in boxing right now, makes a mockery of any plans to keep this sport thriving on into the future... When this nonsense can literally go on for years and years and they still may never fight... If boxing can't get itself together and put on this number 1 fight that fans what to see, it's difficult to argue with people who say it's a dieing sport and every day growing more irrelevant...
Not saying it is... But the fans come a long long long second place when other sports like UFC aim to offer fans all they could want plus more..

Dizaster,
Its also crazy because Mayweather is taking the exact same tests he has asked Pac too.
Pac isint conceding anything. matter of fact it's in a sense a silent way to prove he isint on the juice

I don't think Pacquiao can win at this point (re: the testing, not the fight; though I don't think he can win that either). If he caves in to Floyd's demands, it's going to look like a defeat and people are just going to assume that, since he initially refused, he just needed to time get the dope out of his system. It sucks, but the only course of action for Pacquiao is to continue refusing the tests, even if he's clean.
It's shitty for Floyd too, because I think - legacy-wise - he needs Pacquiao a lot more than Pacquiao needs him, which is unfortunate because PBF is one of the most skilled boxers in the history of the sport.

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
Dana White is the destroyer of UFC and good match ups.
Now UFC is all inexperienced youths in there fighting for peanuts. the cards look abysmal anymore, and ive not ordered them for a long time. It used to be MMA experts every fight, every card!
now its pure shit. I used to be a huge UFC fan too! no one wants to see a bunch of young no names every damn fight.
Now I watch Strikeforce, which kills UFC. Pride was the best MMA ever though!
But I do agree with douchebag Dana on mayweather demanding special testing.
EVERYONE KNOWS, Gayweather is just scared shitless of mannys power & aggressiveness, and will use any excuse to keep it form going down, despite the money & legacy it could gain him!!!! can u say chickenshit?

Pacquiao had already conceded. I'm surprised that you're not aware of this.
He agreed to the drug test with the 14 days cut-off period that was demanded by Floyd in the first negotiation. But what did Floyd do, he went on vacation rather than fight Manny just to come back a few months later to fight Ortiz.

If Pacquiao loses his fight with Mayweather (if ever they do have one), then the critics would then say that this proves that Manny was on PEDS before because he lost after getting it out of his system.
But if Manny was using PEDS before, why would he then take the risk of fighting one of the best in his generation without the PEDS? Surely Pac should be aware that he can't win against Floyd without the PEDS (if he was on it before). It just doesn't make sense.
Logical conclusion: Pacquiao was never on PEDS and he knows he can beat Mayweather.

I find the fact that you are talking about head butting your own Grandmother whilst managing to completely neglect to mention Ortiz's repeated, deliberate, ILLEGAL head butts painfully ironic and your stance on MMA to have possessing a level of ignorance that I honestly could not have seen you ever reaching.
Hatton fucked Hatton... and Ortiz fucked Ortiz, that simple... we can say Cortez this and Cortez that, but he's not the one trading punches... What Floyd did was legal and whilst it was a disappointing end to the fight, if you're going to point a finger at anybody then point it at Ortiz for relying on the referee and for NOT DEFENDING HIMSELF.

:vd:
If Mayweather had the boxing IQ or Margarito then maybe he would be scared. Do you honestly think that Pac will be given much of a target? He's not a barely mobile target, he has an almost absolute mastery of timing, range, angles, movement and thinking 5-6 moves ahead.
Plenty of fighters have power and aggressiveness... doesn't mean that they are shit though... Manny will have to bring a lot more than that to conquer Floyd and frankly - he doesn't... maybe he can outfight Floyd - but he would have to be allowed to do so.

He needed to know one thing - Mayweather doesn't fuck about... he is all business. If you're going to try and dog him and rough him up with your head (as if he isn't a vastly more experienced pro than you) then don't expect him to be any less curtious when it comes to teaching you how the pro game works.

Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
So if any boxer gets Floyd to turn his head, then cold cocks him and ko's him, it's a fair move. Gatti made the mistake of looking at the ref when the ref shouted something, to both boxers. To all future Floyd opponents, do not look at the ref unless you are way across the ring away from Floyd.
-
Re: Dana White on Mayweather Ortiz / Mayweather Pacquiao
Yeah... If he is in punching range during the action then look at him!
Wow, we've just found the blue print to beat floyd.

Whenever I think about Floyd and Paquiao and the huge, colossal, fantastic, mega payday they let get away I laugh and laugh.
Floyd thinks of himself as Mr Slick and Manny wants us to believe he just wants to give the fans a good fight, but they couldn't get together to make millions and give the fans what they wanted. BULLSHIT!
I like Dana White too, and he has done a fantastic job with the UFC, possibly the only person who could have gotten it done, but I don't trust him.
Remember when White said, "The WEC is dead, I killed it." He claims to love boxing and says there is room for both, but I doubt his honesty.
That's all I'm going to say except this. The UFC is like a huge snowball rolling down a hill, collecting things. Who knows what or who it might pick up, eventually?
