Do you eat White bread?
I am trying to lose weight/get healthy as always, but I find lunches quite hard (mainly because I'm on the road,/ limited choice. etc. If I am going to eat a snadwich (normally a roll) I want to enjoy it, but I just don't like Brown bread as much. But everywhere I look, white bread is portrayed as the devil!
What say you?

very rarely. Try and avoid processed food as much as pos & esp. Refined carbs. Just make yourself a lunch the night before & stick it in a tuperware box you lazy git.

I swear by Medium sliced Warburtons white bread, one in blue packet (must always be within two days of best before date or i sling it)

If im having toast prefer brown bread for it. I prefer bread buns or rolls, again it's got to be brown or wholemeal

i like german black bread, 9-grain organic rye or pumpernickel, or just hard red whole wheat. after i eat it i hit the heavy bag.

Just read those highlighted parts back as one sentence as see how pathetic that sounds.;D
Just eat brown bread, you will soon get used to it. Complaining about food not tasting sweet enough, or nice enough, or being comforting enough is like the kid who doesn't want to get into the swimming pool because it's a bit cold or the person who doesn't want walk up the hill because he's a bit tired.

In all seriousness I've made a few changes to my diet in the past few months and although they were initially not the best, tasting now they are perfectly natural to me.
I hated green tea to start with, vile stuff, a couple weeks of drinking it daily and I'm totally used to it now. Haven't had any other tea in the house for a few months.
As for white bread. It's junk food, don't eat it. Also don't buy ready made sandwhiches either. They are stacked full of salt, in fact many well exceed the daily recommended salt intake for the entire day. Crisps are healthier, and lower salt.
Make your own sandwhiches. Brown bread, use philadelphia light spread instead of butter and fill them with healthy foods like ham, tomato's, lettuce, cucumber, tuna etc.

I say eat whatever kind of bread you like, but limit the amount you eat. For example: If I eat a hamburger on a bun, I eat all of the burger meat and veggies, but less than half the bun. I'm currently using a loaf of White Sour Dough bread, it makes a great grilled ham & cheese or roast beef and swiss sandwich. But, I only use one slice of Sour Dough bread.

He's actually right though. Any kind of processed grain these days is hard to digest and stripped of nutrients. If you're going to eat bread made from flour it may as well be the simplest white bread you can find, it does the least harm. Sprouted grains are where it's at in fact, they are never turned to flour or processed at all and much higher in nutrients. There's still debate as to whether that stuff is in fact good for you though as opposed to less unhealthy. Bread is in fact shit, sadly.

White bread is clearly worse than wholemeal bread. It's very high GI for one and not filling at all, which is the last thing an overweight person needs. White bread, along with crisps is the one of the worst things you can eat for weight gain.
It's technically a junk food.
Brown bread is healthy in moderation, but too much can lead to bloating, especially people with wheat intolerences. The other main problem with wheat is that it is found in so many meals that we tend to eat more of it than is good for us.
But under no circumstances should a fat person looking to lose weight eat white bread. It's a guaranteed way to fail the diet.

As for sprouted grains, they are advocated by Gillian McKeith. One look at her should be enough to disprove the merits of any such food source. :-X
Best things to eat imo are brown rice, sweet potato and oats for carbs.

No idea who that is but it's basically unquestionably better for you to limit processed grains whenever possible. I'm also a believer in different metabolic types, some people will put on weight eating carbs no matter where they come from, other's do very well eating almost nothing but. Sweet potatoes and other root vegetables are indeed the best source imo, moreso than any grain.

Will Power is nowhere near as strong as the subconscious and will power will always fail long term - it's unsustainable! Some people have just had a program error somewhere along the line and until the brain is reprogrammed they can never succeed long term.
I didn't eat any food for 14 weeks in 2006, have you any idea how hard that is? But since that and months of councelling, seeiing a shrink, hypnosis and reading every book under the sun I am no further forward in beating this complusion to eat!

If you read any book on the subject on consult anybody with an ounce of knowledge they will tell you that will power has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with it and that will power cannot prevail long term.
I'm not talking about everybody, some people just need to get of their ass stop stuffing their faces and do some exercise, and are completely able to do that if they could be bothered. Others cannot do this. There are actualy things called eating disorders ;)
Can you 'Will power' away a physical issue? If you broke your leg could will power make it better? So why would you think it's any different with a mental injury/disorder or whatever you want to call it.
Trust me, a more disciplined, organized and rational person than me you will not find. I can say to "No" to smoking, drinking gambling, fucking other woman and I can manage a UK business turning over 50 million pounds, but I cannot regulte what eat.

The ignorance and stigma surround mental health problems is one of the reasons so many people are unable to get better. People can't even acknowledge they have then and get treated because of the way some people, with no real understanding of how things actual work, vilify them. It's ridiculous.
Would you call someone weak for getting cancer? Of course not. Mental illnesses/disorders are no different from other diseases except that they occur in a different part of the body and the symptoms manifest differently.

I wouldn't label very many people as 'mental' and certainly not someone with an eating disorder.
People have different sorts of health issues, including mental health ones, that need to be treated. Unfortunately, the bombastic ignorance surrounding mental health means that people aren't able to get the help they need to live a normal life and that is wrong. Those people who do come forward and admit to their problems are often mocked for it by dime-store psychologists which absolutely no understanding of anything even remotely medical, which I find absurd, and that just makes it more difficult for them to get better or develop strategies for coping.

There is a link in between what you feel down deep is full filling your life.
Your body will follow your mind set and your mind will follow your deepest and many times a hidden feeling or even worse a belief that is backed up emotionally.
If you change the emotion in the feeling; the mindset will change and the body will follow its rulers.
Its like changing the flow in the river.

If you read any book on the subject on consult anybody with an ounce of knowledge they will tell you that will power has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with it and that will power cannot prevail long term.
I'm not talking about everybody, some people just need to get of their ass stop stuffing their faces and do some exercise, and are completely able to do that if they could be bothered. Others cannot do this.
There are actualy things called eating disorders ;)
Can you 'Will power' away a physical issue? If you broke your leg could will power make it better? So why would you think it's any different with a mental injury/disorder or whatever you want to call it.
Trust me, a more disciplined, organized and rational person than me you will not find. I can say to "No" to smoking, drinking gambling, fucking other woman and I can manage a UK business turning over 50 million pounds, but I cannot regulte what eat.
I wasn't being critical of you Big H, only stating what's worked for me, if you have an eating disorder, then my bad for suggesting that you could use will power to overcome it.

whenever i accidentally eat too much white bread i make sure to really crank spinach or some dark green vegetables afterwards to sort of dilute it and get it moving through the intestines. WHite bread has a tendency to constipate, beng totally devoid of fiber.

lots of eating issues have roots in control/emotions.
It's the SAME thing when an anorexic says 'I'll be happy when I'm thin' as when someone overweight says it.

We had a similar dilemma in our house not all that long ago when my wife was told to try and cut it out of her diet.
Our solution was to start making wraps instead, didn't think I'd be that happy about it at first but was happy to join in to help & I love the things now. Square or circular whatever your preffered rolling method I have them about 3 times a week at lunch now, plus I feel far better for cutting out the white stuff.
Give it a go we've not looked back...

Wraps are great. We also heat them up in a pan for a miniute each side and drop on flaffels, taboli, diced tomatoe humus dip and greek style tslaki dip and you got a great tasting iron rich meal. Cutting up all the parsley for the taboli salad is a bit of work and waiting for the cracked wheat to expand in the water is a wait, but planned and taken in stages its a real easy meal.
