Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights

Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
Nice topic here. I'm all about that. Let me start by saying there is nothng better for me then cracking open a nice shite beer like a Coors or a Schlitz ice-ass motherfuqqin cold, and it HAS to be a can not a bottle, and I like to crack that sucker open right about the time when Harold Goat-Voice Lederman is going over the rules of the bout "there'll be NO 3-knockdown rule....". I dont like to start drinking before this because if I DID start earlier I'd be too goddam wasted to even remember the rules of the fight or even the TALE OF THE FUCKING TAPE which I also love that paarticular moment when Jim Limpley :) readds it off and I am taking the first few chugs of beer. AND I DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT STARTING TO MUNCH ON ANYTHING (FOOD-WISE I MEAN ;) ) before the 3rd round. I dont want all that crunching and reaching for the food and trying to find my mouth to distract me from missing anythng about how the first 3 rounds will unfold. By the 4th round I can relax a bit and then whatever I eat has to be somewhat clean not messy, I dont wanna be wiping my fucking mouth going through 40 tissues/napkins, etc., but rather eating something requiring very little hand-eye coordination such as a goddam motherfuckin burrito would be good. Even better if 1 of the fighters is Mexican.

Haha...hahaha.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahah...oh, you were serious???
Joke aside, my choice of food and drink really depend of the boxers. For exemple, I usually go for wine for Pacquiao to "commercial beer" for a young prospect.
I also personally hate sneakers. I instead goes for a full meal that doesn't require my eyes on my plate to like cut my food. So basically, some pasta, pizza or Chinese food.

Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
pizza and vodka

Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
These days i'm a light-weight, i'll occasionally have a beer or 2 and sometimes a shot of crown, if it's a really good fight. More often then not, i'll just drink a diet-pepsi, alcohol doesn't thrill me much anymore. As for food, i'm usually finished eating for the day by the time fights come on, if I do eat something, it's a light snack, like a couple bites of cheese and a few triscuits, or a handful of fritos corn chips, with a bit of black bean dip.
Pretty fucking boring aren't I. ;D

Just some cheap whiskey. By the time fights are on, I've already eaten dinner.

it all depends on the fight, if it's an important fight (or PPV) I barely drink that night, if it's just an ESPN card or SHOWTIME/HBO well depending on who's fighting we just go all out and get tanked
-
If it's a big fight early in the morning and I'm with the boys then it's definately a Weed and Red Bull affair. With the nerves that I get before a big fight, the combination of that, the introspective weediness and the I'M PUMPED kicking in from a freshly downed Red Bull is a pretty epic feeling.
Ever seen that film Limitless? ;D

well i have a solution for that. turn on the fight about and about 12 mins b4 the fights starts, turn off a couple lights in the room, get it dark and mysterious, and you'll feel like youre in a theatre of sorts, this will give you less a feeling of being alone, and you can start sippin on a beer, its alright man, just remember we're all with ya during the opening bell moments and beyond. :)

Or he can blow up the dolls that he has hidden under his bed.
Just kidding.
I go for Corona and pork rinds.

Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
No alcohol as it is usually about 1pm. It is usually water or good old fashioned Earl Grey tea. I don't have fight nights. I do sometimes indulge in lunch and I like sausages.
-
Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
If it's a big PPV, and i'm going to have some people over i usually BBQ some tri-tip and some chicken and drink some Newcastle a few hours before the fight. I don't like to be eating while the fight is goign on. If it's a BAD, or FNF type of card i usaully just watch it with a beer or 2 maybe.

Sounds sad, I know. If it was evening I would be drinking, but I usually watch my fights with a hangover, just no need to wake up and drink a bottle.

what a slab of ox shit that itinerary is. If and when you DO actually go for the sausages, it is undertaken with something well beyond humble, toned-down indulgence: it's something quite the more akin to eating what is wrongly termed "sausages" served to you by someone who is wrongly termed an "international" or "cosmopolitan" citizen of the world, as most likely he/she has rarely eaten anything even remotely different from beanpaste soup or pickled vegetables.

Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
nothing better than getting the stellas in and ordering out the night of a big fight
if however its a job like sunday mornings 4am for hopkins pascal, then its normally just snacks and a few beers

You are a deprived soul, BBB. 'Gavins' is where you get your sausages. You can order online and have them delivered to your home. They are quality and taste great. Highly recommended. Just do a Google search for Gavin's sausages and you will indeed be able to consume sublime meaty goodness prior to watching people hit each other on the head. I don't eat any of that rubbish from E-mart, only proper sausages for me.

Re: Your choice of alcohol and foods during fight nights
All depends with who I am and of the season, it's not rare that we eat some BBQ stuff before a match with a few beers where during winter we just gather somewhere and order some junk/go into a "La Cage aux sportS" and eat some chicken breasts and some Fajitas.

Gotta get a KEB check card or something as I have zilch else for online purchases. Miles can one maintain a KEB account AFTER having left for good? Hope I can access the dough at ATMs internationally as I shudder at the thought of carrying more than US $10k in my pocket and therefore must leave the rest somewhere. Closed BA account years ago (several kilometers of chumchi kimbap ago).
p.s. just read loads of goodness re: Gavin's but all posts were from 2006 and the website listed turns up jack piss. Pls post the website as I will have to order some a.s.a.p.

If you didn't close down the account and there is money in there, then you are good to go. They don't shut down accounts easily. KEB is obviously the best way to go for foreigners and debit cards, but Nonghyup is pretty good and Samsung are branching out too with their credit cards.
I don't know the website as the wife does the ordering and she is sleeping, so will try and find out tomorrow.
Meanwhile here is an article on Gavin's sausages as that is the nearest I could find myself on looking for my sausages. Great to see him getting UK press.

will check it out momentarily. tahnks for the banking info. actually thinking of leaving about 20 million in keb as long as i can access the money thru atms after i leave here. i heard nong hyup is strictly domestic, meaning you can't access that money after leavng, you must withdraw money only from within this country. but yes NH allows account balances for up to 1 year after one has permanently departed. dont ask me hw they expect one to GET the money. I read keb is the only bank for foreigners that allows atm withdrawals from abroad with a check card its called.

My information is alright, but I think it is always made easier for me by being married to one of the locals. I seldom need to jump through hoops. KEB is clearly the best bank for any foreigner though. A lot of the banks here are just flat out racist.

no doubt racist, but during my more altruistic/empathetic moments I tell myself they are simply and undeniably sheltered, naive, provincial, boorish peasants with no experience at all........it makes me less angry to see it that way.
