Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Arce has vacated his WBO 122lbs title and these guys will fight for it..
Poor Vazquez cuz I like this guy too... Looks like he's headed for a second thrashing..
Thoughts?
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Vazquez Jr. is good and I like him as well. But he's taking on a current p4p top 5 (in my view, anyway). Looks like a steep hill to climb.
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Yea man.. I have nothing but respect for guys like Vazquez. For a youngster with no amatuer background, he's a natural.. He's an overachiever.
Some balls this guy has too, wanting to take on Boxing's best.
If I was handling his career though, I would have advised him to jump on Rico Ramos' title as soon as he won it.. Vazquez can beat someone like Ramos and that probably would have been the easiest route to a title. But too bad Rigondeaux is going to get to Ramos first.

Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
we talked about this fight the other day, and like i told you then, IMO he's being rushed, they need to take a step back with Vazquez Jr and work on his defense and fine tune is technical abilities, like you said he's an overachiever and well JCC Jr could learn a thing or two from the guy

Yea bro. They need to protect him a little bit. I guess his father has more confidence in him than Chavez sr does with his spoiled kid..
Can't blame him for being a warrior though. More youngsters need his mentality.
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Credit to Vasquez Jr for taking the fight, it's not going to be easy. It's unfortunate that he will probably be taken apart by Donaire because he should be applauded for not taking an easy route

Vazquez Jr. and Chavez Jr. are polar opposites. It's revolting how much they coddle Chavez, especially when you see how maybe they're rushing Vazquez. I wish they were the same weight, so they could fight and Vazquez could rip Chavez a new A-hole.
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Man, Donaire vs Arce is so elusive. Guess its still in the horizon; if Arce becomes a 5-division world champion and Donaire beats Vasquez Jr convincingly, the event will be inevitable.
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
This is a garbage fight for Donaire. An Arce fight would have been bad enough (total mismatch), but Arce's leftovers?? And Arum wants to make it a PPV headliner too -- no thanks.
If Donaire's not going to stick around to beat the winner of the Agbeko-Mares fight, he should be moving straight to 126. There is absolutely no one worthwhile at 122. This is a waste of time.

Losses can happen when you're fighting people with healthy heartbeats.
Chavez jr can't hold Vazquez' spit bucket.

Come on now. Vazquez was expected to shread Arce. Arce was coming off that gift draw to Lorenzo Parra. In which he looked like a shell of his former self. But he still had name value. Which is why they took the fight. Cuz they wanted to add a famous name to his resume. Not cuz they thought it was gonna be a competitive fight But they miscalculated. Arce wasn't quite done. Instead he tapped that azz. Now muthafukkas want to make it seem like Vazquez lost cuz he was willing to take on the best competition. When in reality he lost cuz they took on a fighter that they thought was shot but wasn't.
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Props to Vasquez, that's a tough order on his plate, not sure he can make it (except through an upset of course) but he does deserve tons of credit for not cherrypicking.

Whereas baby Chavez has never faced anyone that EVER amounted to anything. Seriously.... you defending this coddled-ass punk? Figures.

Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
So no one thinks that the fight will be competitve at all?? Vazquez was giving Arce a run for his money in there fight until the later rounds so while I dont think he wins I still see a competitive and entertaining fight.

What does being competitive with Arce prove? Donaire would wreck Arce. Like Darchinyan and Christian Mijares did. When's the last time Arce beat an elite fighter? Michael Carbajal?
Again, this fight is a joke. If Donaire's going to waste a fight at 122, it should at least be against Nishioka (which is what they were talking about before pulling this stinker out of their (Bob Arum's) ass).
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Donaire should really just be looking at big fights at this stage, Nishioka or Ramos would have been my picks
-
Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
There are only two fights at 122 for Donaire: Rigandoux and Nishioka. No offense to Vasquez or Arce for that matter, but any other fight is a let down.

the fact that he's taking on Donaire next shows he has more balls than Chavez "Silver Spoon" Jr, when the biggest name you've fought in over 50+ fights is Manfredo Jr it's just sad

I agree. Nothing but big fights from this point on.. Nonito's plan has been mapped out by TR bruh... Vazquez in Feb, then Nishioka in June.. Sounds like the right path..
But Rico Ramos?? i dont think that could be considered as a big fight for anybody.. He's going to be an after thought after Rigondeaux takes his belt.

Vazquez is the best guy Donaire has fought apart from Montiel and Darchinyan

That is up for debate. Despite his no show, I would argue p4p Narvaez is the best guy Nonito has fought other than Montiel and Darchinyan. Narvaez was hopelessly outmatched in their fight, but Narvaez has performed well in all his other big fights. I imagine he'll continue as champion for a good while at junior bantam.

This is a rumored fight. Nothing is even signed yet. I have yet to even see opinion from either the Donaire or Vazquez camp regarding this. Just what Arum wants done. You wanna suck Vazquez dick over a rumor go ahead

apart from Donaire (and locally known Cesar Seda Jr) who has Narvaez fought? he's had most of his fights in his homeland Argentina for a reason, cause he can make a good amount of money fighting relatively weak opposition, IMO Vazquez already has a better resume than Narvaez (Sonsona and Hernandez) and add in he's a younger stronger guy, another guy that could be thrown into that list is Tyson Marquez cause he has really turned it around since his loss to Donaire

Rayonta Whitfield, Brahim Asloum and Bernard Inom were all good fighters. Carlos Tamara also managed to win a title after facing Narvaez. Narvaez resume isn't the greatest. But it does beats Vazquez pretty easily. Vazquez has Sonsona who proved to be nothing but a fraud. And Hernandez who went into the Vazquez fight 4-3 in his last 7. Hernandez has one good win his career. The Johnson fight. That is it. Stop going overboard trying to pump Vazquez Jr

that's still better than anything Chavez Jr has fucking done, you're talking about sucking a fighter off you're the one riding long and hard on the silver spooned one, you praise the little bitch when he's doing everything you would bitch and moan that Donaire would do, your new motto should be if it ain't Red White and Green than it don't mean a thing  each day you turn more and more into milmascaras' replacement

Just the fact that Narvaez was fighting above his natural weight division excludes him from that " dangerous " opponent status to Nonito..
Narvaez was a gimmie fight.... Vazquez fight is more than that..

Narvaez was a gimme fight. I said p4p. I bet that Narvaez will go down in history with a better resume/career than Vasquez. That's what I'm saying, but it was definitely a gimme fight. Vasquez is a gimme fight too. I don't think you disagree that the only fights at 122 that would be challenges are Nishioka and Rigandeaux. Arce would be fun, but there would be no doubt at all in the outcome.

I'd take Ramos over Vasquez Jr. I agree he loses his belt to Rigondeaux but at this stage he still owns it

Well of course Narvaez is greater than Vazquez, P4P, nobody could dispute that, but that's beside the point. Narvaez is a smaller fighter and he had no business fighting Nonito in the first place.
Vazquez has the youth and the size to match Nonito so he's just a bigger threat, that's all we are saying here bruh..
Vazquez could be viewed as an easy fight but i wouldnt go far as to say that he's a gimmie opponent.
How can we dismiss him like that when Nonito has never fought above 118?
When people say Nonito is great enough to conquer 122-130, that's just speculation..
Vazquez is no gimmie oppponent.

Losses can happen when you're fighting people with healthy heartbeats.

"Shred" Arce?? A young, relatively inexperienced fighter against a savvy old pro? "Shred"? Aren't you exaggerating just a LITTLE bit? Arce was coming off that gift draw to Lorenzo Parra. Again I beg to differ. Miscalculated? Yeah, probably. That they didn't think it would be competitive? C'mon VD... you KNOW better than that. An old pro like Arce... not competitive? Your bias is showing through the cracks. But they miscalculated. Arce wasn't quite done. Instead he tapped that azz.
See... now "tapped that azz" doesn't sound competitive. When in actuality, the old pro and the young gun gave us one of the best fights of the year. Give the kid some credit. Now muthafukkas want to make it seem like Vazquez lost cuz he was willing to take on the best competition. When in reality he lost cuz they took on a fighter that they thought was shot but wasn't.
Whereas baby Chavez has never faced anyone that
EVER amounted to anything. Seriously.... you defending this coddled-ass punk? Figures.
You disputing what I said?
See above. Some of what you said was reasonable..... some of it wasn't.
IMO.

Like what?
How to lose
Losses can happen when you're fighting people with healthy heartbeats.
Chavez jr can't hold Vazquez' spit bucket.
Come on now. Vazquez was expected to shread Arce.
"Shred" Arce?? A young, relatively inexperienced fighter against a savvy old pro? "Shred"? Aren't you exaggerating just a LITTLE bit? Arce was coming off that gift draw to Lorenzo Parra. In which he looked like a shell of his former self. But he still had name value. Which is why they took the fight. Cuz they wanted to add a famous name to his resume. Not cuz they thought it was gonna be a competitive fight

Arce looked terrible against Parra. The draw was a gift. It should of been a L. It's easy to say now that everybody knew Arce-Vazquez would be competitive. But that's straight bullshit. Very few gave him a chance going in. Vazquez was a bigger favorite over Arce than Manny Pacquiao was over Shane Mosley that night. I will gladly show you the betting odds if you want. Of course Arce was gonna give his all. But he gave his all against Vic Darchiyan. And that wasn't competitive. Everybody was expecting the same thing. You say give Vazquez credit. Ok. Tell me. How much credit you think a young fighter should get for getting his ass kicked by a fighter he only fought cuz he thought he was shot?

what credit does a younger fighter (Chavez JR) deserve for not even having the balls to go in there against someone with the credentials of Arce, regardless of the fact that he has double the fights, and is competing already in his 3rd weight class?

Answering a question with a question is straight bitch move. Only done by cowards. You quoted my post so answer it.

the fact that Vazquez is willing to step in against the guy who's ACTUALLY the champion (Sonsona) is already more than what Chavez Jr has done in his 50+ fights, Vazquez didn't need Uncle Sulaiman to rip the rightful champ (Martinez) off just so that the silver spoon Chavez Jr could walk around calling himself a "champion", IMO JCC Jr should have just kept the Silver Belt it suited him a hell of a lot more... now you answer the question, or you've done doing your daily dose of talking out of your ass?

Re: Nonito Donaire VS Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. is set for February
Vasquez is a technically good fighter with great boxing skills, and his fight with nonito would have been bigger if he won against Arce the last time. Arce rough him up and wasnt able to handle the aggression thats why he lost.
Im a bit surprised that Vasquez was chosen to fight Nonito. Arce would be logical and acceptable enough because the man in the division is Arce.
Fight-wise, Im interested to see how this fight would go.

It's fucking irritating dealing with muthafukkas who have to lie to try and make there fighter look good. You were better off saying you were ignorant to the situation instead of embarrassing yourself like this. Vazquez won the WBO Super Bantamweight title when he beat Sonsona. It was a vacant title. Juan Manuel Lopez gave it up when he moved up in weight. Sonsona never held that title. Only title he ever held was the WBO Super Flyweight title. Sonsona moved up 2 weight classes to fight Vazquez. Vazquez and his people did everything they could to avoid fighting Lopez. They waited till he moved up and than went for the title. Instead of having him face the next highest ranked opponent, The WBO which everybody knows headquarters in Puerto Rico looked out for Vazquez and let him get a away with fighting a fighter who was moving up in weight. Not one. But two weight classes. So don't give me this bullshit how Vazquez does shit the hard way. Cuz he doesn't. Facts are facts. He too has benefited from his famous daddies name and has been granted favors he wouldn't of gotten with a different last name

Is Arce the one doing the avoiding here? That fight was all the talk along with Nishioka following the Narvaez bout. More Arce is moving to 118 for a trinket.

Arce didn't want to wait to face Donaire. And he told Vazquez he would rematch him any time. Vazquez never answered him. So Arce said the hell with it and has gone back down in weight
