Floyd vs prime fighters?
We all know, and some don't want to admit that floydmfights great fighters when they are way past their prime. I want to know who has Floyd fought in their prime and destroyed?
What happens if Floyd faces Shane, Oscar, magarito or anyone in their prime.
Do y'all think the magarito who beat cotto would beat Floyd. Why didn't Floyd fight Paul Williams.
I think floyds kryptonite is a boxer with skills, heart, and is will willing to throw punches.
Floyd is undefeated but who is his standout fight. Who did he defeat that was in there prime and is know as one of the greatest?

I think Corrales is probably the best win of this sort. Chico was rated top 5 p4p at the time (maybe 6) and Floyd utterly destroyed him.

Floyds not that great. All his wins were very lucky and im sure he would have beaten by a prime margocheato. Margacheato has amazing hand skills and brilliant footwork..no wonder floyd avoided him.
Watching margacheato fight is pure poetry and he will be a hof..lol
Any fighter floyd fights in the prime or out of it he adjusts to suit that level.
Stop hating and being jealous. Respect his skills.
The thing is chris, there will always be reasons to hate floyd and discredit him but just keep paying to see him loose as its never gonna happen.
Ps: dont forgot mosely in his prime, i seem to recall him having a bad tooth that prevented this fight from happening many moons ago. And cotto ducking him, the list goes on..

Hopefully it will be Pacquiao.

There is a difference between hating and asking a question. I would rather hear from people who are not floyd dick riders with a pic of him. I want to hear from people who enjoy the sport of boxing to see great fights as I do with an unbiased opinion. Based off your sarcastic response i would assume you are a floyd dick rider.

I agree, recall talking to my brother before that fight & it seemed a like a 50/50 fight. Chico the puncher, Floyd the boxer. Were we surprised @ how easily Floyd handled him & won that fight!

I thought Mosley had been calling Floyd out since the early 2000's? I had also heard that the reason that Mayweather retired the first time after Hatton was because his next fights would have been De la Hoya rematch or a possible fight with Cotto?

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
Good thread. It's definitely a good discussion and I can see why people say that PBF didn't destroy anyone in their primes apart from Chico.
The way I look at it is PBF has handled his opponents with relative ease and no one has faced the same opponents and dismantled them the same way. give or take 1 or 2.

Yea that's what I also heard. Didn't de la come of a 2 year lay off to fight Floyd? I remember seeing the jab working for de la until he got tired. And de la was past his prime that fight

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
Floyd beating Oscar at light middle was an excellent performance, beating an unbeaten Corrales, even an undefeated Ricky, beating Manfredy and Hernandez were also good wins.

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
Just wanted to ask you guys if you think pac is still in his prime or not because g3org3 neg rep'd me saying he isn't. I think he still is, the reason he didn't look good against Marquez and Mosley is because they didn't just come forward or stand there taking shots. They moved around and away from Pacquiao's left and pac being the fighter he is didn't know how to deal with it, making him look not as special as when guy walk to him. I believe the cramps are just an excuse if not then Ariza isn't doing a good job. I don't mean any disrespect to pac but people sometimes have to understand that their favourite fighter isn't perfect and is mortal.
-
Floyd doesnt really struggle with anyone. And please no mention of the d word this is a straight forum.
👍
When a prime undefeated hatton fought floyd at the weigh in i thought floyd might be in trouble in this one as hatton is a lovable character but looked in excellent condition. But he took all hatton could give him and put on a master class.

As a floyd fan i still cant knock pacs achievements but i always wonder if pac never fought marquez at all how much more of a icon he would be.
The three marquez fights showed that even on paper pac has all the advantages but against a mexican warrior like marquez the result will always be the same.. Thats why marquez 4 will not be next but cotto will be at 147.

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
Pac Man is on the slide and he should have fought Floyd when he was buzzing when he was beating Cotto and Marg.

Floyd vs Prime Fighters?

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
Genaro Henandez had never been beaten at 130 & was rated #1 when Floyd fought him
Manfredy (while not great) was on a 23 out of 24 streak with 1 fight being a nc
Corrales was undefeated, rated #1 at 130 & #5 p4p
Castillo was Ring champ at 135 & #1 in the rematch
Hatton (although maybe past his best) was Ring champ & undefeated
That's leaving out many guys that were also rated when Floyd fought them but may not have been in their prime...
-
I wonder when people will start saying Floyd is out if his prime...

Do you consider him being tested at 130 & 135? Or you just look at certain fights? I think he has already started to slip, but his fundermental are so good that it hasn't really been a problem yet... sort of along the lines of Hopkins, very well schooled, great technique

I think he is slightly past his best but he has ajusted his style slighty as he has got older. Eg Doesnt throw many combos uses the left then straight right alot more. Where when he was younger at 130 and 135 he used alot of combinations.

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
DLH, Mosley and Trinidad from 1999 all give Mayweather big trouble.
Prime Chavez loses to Mayweather, prime Whitaker would be a chess match, prime KT has a chance (cuts the ring off better than most), but probably loses a decision.
Could Mayweather beat prime Duran at Lightweight or prime Hearns at Welterweight? Despite my admiration for Mayweather's defensive skills, i doubt it.

Its funny how guys are the greatest floyd slayers ever before the fight.......then after we get threads like these. Floyd fights oscar at a normal weight nothing. Pac fights him dripping blood from i.v. holes and the heavens open. Floyd fights hatton nothing. Pac drains and fights him and jimmy kimmel throws down confetti, so on and so forth. Floyd could fight wlad and vitali tonight win and people will still say he ducked fighter blah blah blah. Same will be for pac, im suprised there already isn't an app for excuses and reasons to discredit the guy already. Floyd is a good fighter pac is a good fighter, among others bottom line. Fans dont need to shit on another fighter to try and make your favorite look better. If floyd sucks, ducks, fights old fighters then someone beat him, not make up excuses why they can't or didn't. If any of the fighters floyd has fought beat him you wouldn't hear any of this past thier prime garbage. You'd just instantly make him a hero. Best case is that both these guys loose and we move on with the sport. Every other word out of boxing's mouth in general has something to do with floyd.........but yea he's garbage that makes sense. Next the nba will start to market the bucks, cause they suck too. Smh

He just doesnt look as nippy any more. Look at him about 4 or 5 fights ago. He was always jumping in and out with his punches. Like a munchkin on a sugar high. So much faster and more agile. Now he looks like he is only in the ring because he has to be there.

Trinidad never ever gives Floyd trouble, sorry. Oscar and Mosley would all be great fights if all were at lightweight at the same time. That's where Floyd was best.
I think he beats Duran..Hearns it is damn hard to see Floyd getting inside of that reach. Leonard vs Floyd would be a more even fight IMO. The one thing Floyd has over all of these fighters is patience and ring smarts.

Why not sing praise to pacs opponents? Mosely was past it and seemed happy to touch gloves more than fight but was still dangerous.
Marquez done a great job on keeping pac at bay and arguably won.
Pac is a great fighter but we cant say pac is past it because he couldnt dominate these guys.

I agree that past it is probably too stong a word. He is still there at the top but not as impressive as a few years ago is probably the best way to word it. He had the joke of a fight with Clottey, where Clottey just guarded throughout the fight. He then looked way too slow against Margarito. An unimpressive performance against Mosley and then in my opinion, lost to Marquez.
Im deffinately putting my money on Mayweather if this fight ever happens.

these warriors stepped up to each challenge and faced almost all opposition with no fear. REAL warriors! and we all know there would have been excuse after excuse, refused offers, and ducking and dodging like never befo if lil floyd was involved.
so lets stick to reality huh?

Could you please rationally explain why you hate Floyd so much.

Re: Floyd vs prime fighters?
Forget bout the Floyd hate club for a moment and look at it this way, Floyd would be up to it if he had to fight these guys in their prime. He wouldn't have time to B.S. because he would have to train more and showboat less. Imagine Floyd without much to say. I don't like him but you have to admit he's good and without distractions he could be really great. Imagine an active Floyd?

Wow, i kinda remember Felix Trinidad being a real good fighter once upon a time? Trinidad is much taller and punched hard, maybe Mayweather's defensive skills avoids him long enough to get a decision. If he beats Duran then he is the greatest Lightweight champion of all time and i don't think he is, Duran would give him hell.

Every post of his that I've seen has been him hating on Floyd, so I just wanted to know what Floyd has done that bothers him so much.
