Someone just fight James Toney!
James Toney is being avoided like the plague. The Adamek fight should have happened and instead it was drowned out by the horrid emanations emerging from Fat Dan's gut and throat. Fight not signed. And then of course silence for the rest of the year.
Toney clearly wants a fight. His doubters will say he is done, but give him a last chance to show it. His fans are getting tired of the inactivity. He is getting old and this nothingness is leading to more nothingness.
Somebody in the HW top 10 just get in touch with Toney and make a damn fight. Maybe it will be good for you, maybe not. But someone, please just fight the man.

Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
I'm not busy thursday next. I'll fight him. Talked to a guy that used to spar him; i'll bounce right hands off his forehead all day.
Unless he kills me first.

Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Shouldn't one of these 'top ten' men fight James Toney to prove something or to prove a point on the way up?
Let's face facts. Toney has a better record than most of these people and yet he isn't on any radar.

Hes not an attractive opponent because of the Lebedev fight. He needs to pull his socks up and do what Rahaman did and fight a line of bums to string a few wins together. Him gobbing off on the sidelines isnt getting him anywhere, as they say, action speaks louder than words.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
you'd think that, with his name and record, all the young up and comers would be clamoring to fight him. Two reasons why not:
First, he really knows how to fight.
Second, nobody knows for sure how shot he is and nobody wants to end their career testing the waters.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
True, but it means the man is in continual limbo.
I was excited about Adamek and then all this spiel about it being one sided and a joke. I mean, really? With Adameks style?
It was the media dictating and they won. Toney doesn't fit the plan. Close him...and so they have.

He should 4 fights in 6 months and surely someone has to fight him.

So, who would you watch at HW?

He barely threw a punch vs Lebedev.

You didn't watch the fight because you are an idiot!
The knee was twisted early, all too obviously.

I watched it, and lets compare idiocy. You're ranting for a fat 43 year old to get a fight?
He's a stuttering retard who drools when he speaks. Ok.

Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
James Toney can make cruiserweight and a match with Hopkins or Jones would be a good novelty fight.

He made a sideshow novelty of himself when he got in the ring with
Couture.
Toney is well respected by everyone for what he once was and I'll always be grateful to Couture for making it quick instead of beating the hell out of Toney when he had him on the ground.
Toney, mentally, is not what he used to be!
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Toney is a fat irrelevent mess. Why take a fight with a fighter that hasn't taken the sport seriously in years. C'mon Miles, you must be joking with this thread.
I'm going to give you an :lolololol: as a token of acknowledgement of your funny jokiness thread.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Well getting beyond the obvious fact that James SHOULD NOT be licensed to fight anywhere as it's been proven that he has suffered brain damage to the extent where his hormones are fucked up, at this point its a lose-lose for anyone in the top 10 to fight him, considering...
a) If you win, so what? You beat a 44 year old blown up middleweight.
b) He's not a guy that people look good against, even in winning.
c) If you lose to him, you can kiss your world title contention goodbye.

Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
I love Toney but the man is finished as a contender. Maybe he can rematch Holyfield in some foreign land for a vacant XYZ belt.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Is Toney seriously still going? Time to hang them up mate, it's getting silly now.

Oh I don't know... I would venture to say that Toney shows up in just about any radar.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
I'm not convinced that his low testosterone is caused by brain damage. You have several glands in your brain making all kinds of hormones, but I don't think that testosterone is one of them.
As far as I know testosterone production is just the gonads? Certainly predominantly.
The guy probably has low testosterone from steroid abuse... it's a common side effect of anabolic steroids. In a nut (no pun intended) shell.. your nuts don't need to make testosterone, so they become inactive, you take that shit long term and they atrophy and stop working like they used to.
'Hypogonadism' is the illness, low T levels are just a symptom and I'd guess that Toney's illness is acquired and not congenital.
Oh sorry, he was taking anabolic steroids to 'treat' low T levels...
Or was he taking them to 'treat' the bicep tendon that he ruptured?
..except that such an injury is extremely common in anabolic steroid users?
Either way, he's shot to shit and exhibiting signs of serious brain damage.
Is this a joke Miles? It would be unethical to allow him to fight. He ends up like Gerald Mcellan so that promoter can use him as name fodder for a young up and comer who wouldn't have been fit to carry his cup?

Testosterone is produced by the gonads, but the pituitary gland controls the body's level of testosterone (how much is secreted).
It's been proven that damage to the pituitary gland can throw off a lot of hormone levels.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Yeah, I know that. But a whole host of problems besides low T levels usually come with it too.
Only having low T levels is oddly specific and steroids a much more obvious cause. He had 'low T levels' long before he couldn't string 3 words together.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Toney should just call it a day. The Lebedev fight was hard to work. He was getting a beatdown by someone he would've toyed with years ago.
-
James is one of my fsvourite fighters, but the argument that his re it's is better than most prospects is a little suspect.
He sure has a great record- but not at heavyweight. Most of his best wins were under 175.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Nope I am not joking. Lebedev was all about a twisted leg. Toney is a bigger name than most of these punks and they should fight him. If Toney really is so done, then just one of the 10 please step forward to prove it. How about you Arreola? How about Adamek....oh chickened already. Come on Haye, you want to fight short and old Tony?
Someone needs to man up and end it once and for all. Get a good fighter in with Toney, at HW, and see what happens. No injuries, no excuses. A final chance saloon situation.
If Toney loses, then another loss and no way back. But if he wins, then he gets a another chance. This is how Toney's career needs to be, but busier.
-

Haye vs Toney would be the nail that his careers coffin needs.

Awesome, I want to see it too then. Haye throwing 25 punches a round, would make Toney laugh a bit and be a very boring fight, but the win Toney needs.

The fight would over while Toney still struggled to stutter out his press conference threats.
Put him and Rjj in a room together and let them fight to the death. My money's on Roy.

They're both 43yo+ has beens desperately trying to regain what they once had.
It's tragic.
Hell why not, throw Holyfield in as well. We'll make a proper suck fest.

Toney beats Haye? Have you been smoking something?
These days, I doubt Toney could beat his own meat. It's probably been a while since he's seen it!

Boxing. Couture? Idiots.....

Oh Oh I have red hair to thanks to those bloddy Celtic inbreds but Toney has been a none entity in boxing for about a decade. Haye is an underachieving con artist but he'd kick the shit out of Toney.

Unless it happens you can never prove it. Thus needs his chance. Unlike Celtic inbreds Toney was actually an aciever.
-
Re: Someone just fight James Toney!
Toney's a slurring, blubbery, old, washed up has-been.
Other than that, I got no problem with the man.
