That's a good list and I agree with most of except I dont see what's so boring about forrest and jermaine.. those guys have been in some thrilling fights.. I was a huge fan od vernon forrest.
Stinky winky wright was boring ass shit, almost as boring as klitschko. Winky is so overrated and boring.. I never undrrstood what some people saw in him.. he wasnt all that skilled. He just fought scared behind a punkass turtle shell.. he could be fighting a 50 ft giant woman with her titties all hanging out and I still wouldnt pay to watch that shit.
Ricky Hatton was another one, the John ruiz mini me. I couldnt bare to watch his hugging style..he sucked.

Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
Feel like he made this cuz of Bradley ward and Hopkins are not boring. I feel like boxers will never be appreciated until they put their health on the line (senseless brawling)

Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
Love watching Locche as much as Zarate. Cant come up with a list.

One doesnt have to brawl to be exciting. It's not about that..
I personally do not like brawlers.

Then please explain , what is it about these guys that u deem so boring? Ward outclasses guys with excellent boxing skills. Bradley isn't great but good in all areas to the point where his well balanced skill set can get the job done. Hopkins pretty much the same as ward just a little dirtier and trickier. Paulie can't punch but has enough skill to give guys problems. Clinchko clinches :). So tell me. Who do u think is exciting and tell me why these guys are boring .
-
Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
Every single fighter today can have at least one fight pointed to as boring. Some may refine a backfoot prevention style, a clinch counter etc...but they all have 'asterisks'. Ironic is the last part of that word. One round blow out-knockouts can even be boring. I can watch a guy sharpshoot and bust up a guy, a competitive-class opponent over 12 and be entertained. Oh and Cory is at top of the list of boring while we're at it.

I like boxer-punchers and pure boxers. The fighters that excite me are guys like Ray Leonard, Finito Lopez, McCallum, Curry, Toney, Marquez and Jorge Linares.
The fights that put me on the edge of my seat are leonard-hearns 1, toney-McCallum 1, barrera-morales 1, marquez-barrera...
I love fighters who are well rounded and skilled enough to put on a sustained boxing action for minutes at a time without resorting to clinching on the inside and getting on the bike.
In all the favorite fights that I mentioned, they all have one thing in common and its that all of them had a spontaneous boxing action from the midrange and from the outside..
Basically, I enjoy fighters boxing from within each others punching distance without holding like a broad and running circles like a pansy..
Take james toney for instance. Whenever the action gets close, he ducks, weaves, slips, counters, and punches his way out from the inside instead of clinching like bernard. Thats a real inside fighter and infighting is a lost art in today's boxing.
Why do I find bernard boring? Because he clinches every other second due to his lack of infighting skills.. clinching and sneaking in a kidney punch is not skills.
Im not saying that clinching should be banned in boxing . Clinching is necessary in certain situations such as when a fighter is hurt and he's trying to recover, then it's totally acceptable when but when one starts hugging for no apparent reason, then that's a problem. Guys like bernard, ricky hatton, and wlad clinch in fear of being hit and because they have no clue about infighting. Its disgusting.
Simply put, I love fights that have consistent boxing action from the midrange and outside, without unnecessary clinching and running.. but when it involves good infighters like toney and chaves, I enjoy close quarter fights as well..
In a nutshell, im referring to a match like Toney-McCallum.. every punch and every move that has to do with boxing was shown in that fight..
Constant change of momentum, a bit of brawling and boxing like leonard-hearns 1, theres just nothing like it..

Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
Billy Dib. Everyone else doesn't even compare.
-
Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
i actually always enjoy wards and mayweathers fights. i dont at all think they are boring.
wlad is boring. abraham is boring. molina is boring. trout is boring.
-
Bernard has no infighting skills?!? Bwahahahahahahaha!!! Oh man... Bwahahahahahaha!!!! I can't even type a response. I don't think I've ever heard anyone hate enough to actually suggest that Hop lacked skill. I can see where when he fights fast boxers n he clinches to slow the pace it bothers n bored certain fans, but to suggest that Hop lacks skill in any area of the game?!? U just outed urself as a less than casual fan. Too funny.

Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
wlad,ward, bhop, alexander,rob norton
i dont find mayweather boring i find it frustraiting when he fights and its not really the way he fights its the way the commentators bum everything he does
-
Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
I don't mind guys like Mayweather, Bradley, ect fighting safe and using boxing skill to win fights.
What I find boring is Wlad/Povetkin, where boxing skill takes a back seat to excessive holding.
-
Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
1. Ishe Smith
2. Billy Dib
3. Wlad
4. Felix Sturm
5. Cory Spinks (he fought this year so....)

Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
Andre Ward
Bernard Hopkins
Ishe Smith
Paulie Malignaggi
Floyd Mayweather

Re: List your top 5 boring ass fighters currently
I don't know how Paulie Malinaggi makes it on this list....sure he's not a big time puncher and he's not all that slick these days, but he puts on a decent show. I thought he did well vs Hatton and Cotto, granted those guys were never in a dull fight....but still Paulie Malinaggi? I mean Paulie Spadafora I get, but Malinaggi?
Hmm...there's not many boxers I find boring enough to list, I think more along the lines of "styles make fights". Now if it's which styles make for the most boring fights:
Bernard Hopkins - Always going the distance, slow pace, makes the fight one of attrition. But it's also boring because you know A) B-Hop WILL win and B ) He won't get hurt by anything you throw at him no matter who you are. Also he's been around for FOREVER so we've seen all his tricks.
Zab Judah - AT TIMES...sometimes Zab is amazing, letting his hands go, moving well, when he fights determined he's awesome to watch. HOWEVER when he's uninspired he can be tedious. He's only on here because I expect so much from him sometimes and every so often he fails to impress in such a disappointing manner.
Rocky Juarez - Hasn't fought in 2013, but just a plodding guy who can easily be kept at the end of a jab. Heavy hands, but very one dimensional. I was never a fan of what he was as a fighter.
Zahir Raheem & Derrick Gainer - Yeeeeesh
Erislandy Lara - The guy just has a very difficult style to work with. He's cagey but he's skilled enough to where he doesn't have to be.
And especially for those of you who think I'm awful....
Wladimir Klitschko - When Wlad fights like he did vs Povetkin nobody is happy. As a fan of his, I'm pleased he got the win, as a fan of boxing I wanted him to go for the KO. I expect him to win by KO all the time, he has the brains and he has the skills to accomplish that. What happened vs Povetkin I don't know but it wasn't great to watch and I freely admit that.

oh shit Z-man is still "fighting" he should definitely be on my list. I thought his fight against Freitas was good, but that's the end of that list.

Haha, yes I knew some ribbing would come along with my post. It's more to inform people that yes I'm pleased that Wlad won the fight vs Povetkin, but not in the manner it happened and there is a huge difference

Arthur Abraham
Steizeger (spelling guy who beat above)

this with the exception of sturm don't really recall him being in a shit fight. Wlad positioned himself firmly in the number two spot with his last performance and I'm a fan of the guy, also extremely crude brawlers who just look for the one big punch like abraham...

Sturm has been in some decent fights but his style is pretty boring. He's too basic..

This is basically why I stopped arguing with you about Klitschko as it isn't the first time I've seen you admit it. This and the fact you were right about the Haye fight.

are you ever please by the way in which he wins?
in the last few years has he ever been in any fights where he doesnt excessively hold and get away with it?
ill have to be honest ive seen a few where his opponent is completely over matched (mormeck) and they just fall over where he doesnt get chance to hold but thats about it

he was right when he said wlad would win? so did the vast majority of boxing fans, there was probably a higher percentage than normal saying haye would win (or at least had a good chance) but in general the vast majotity said wlad
i am a haye fan, I was in benidorm on a stag do and I put 1 bet on the fight, wlad on points
which got me a free night
if i could have put wlad on points with excessive holding and leaning i would have and then i would have won a bit more :)

On here opinion seemed to be split about 50-50 as to who would win.
I didn't think Wlad's chin would stand up to Haye's overhand right for 12. Regardless, Wlad nulified Haye and he couldn't do shit. No point arguing it anymore. He is the best.

I've yet to see many Haye fans admit it was HAYE that night who didn't want to fight. Wlad does what he does everyone knows what you get with him, but Haye with the constant trash talk and bullshitting and he fought like THAT....come on man that was a pathetic showing by Haye who honestly with his athleticism and skill could have provided Wlad a challenge but Haye brought nothing to the table and then blamed a pinky toe injury....Bush League my friend, Bush League
I can admit when Wlad fights well and when he doesn't, but the important thing is all he does is WIN.

I think when wlad fights the majority of people want the other guy to win
I think more people believed haye had a chance
I think smaller fighters than wlad fighting under wlads rules have only one chance of winning and that's staying on the outside, avoiding the clinches and landing pot shots
its no surprise that the two best fighters he has fought who were smaller than him fought that way

Povetkin actually ATTEMPTED to win, Haye just fought like a little bitch. And don't give me this "Wlad and Vitali have their own rules" bullshit, if the ref doesn't call it then it's fair play. Eddie Chambers tried to bodyslam Wlad, it's not like other fighters haven't attempted to retaliate. In the end the opponents simply aren't good enough to beat either brother. It's just that simple, but feel free to keep complaining I mean it's SOOOO interesting the points you make and all :vd:
