Default The Middleweight Division in 2010 - on the rise?

Is it me or does it appear that the middleweight division may shine once again as one of boxing's premiere divisons in 2010? The following are guys with the potential to do great who should become at least contenders next year. Agree? Here are some boxers I thought of off the top, but I'm sure there are others.

    Top level:

Matvey Korobov (may be too soon)
    Gennady Golovkin
    Fernando Guerrero
    Daniel Jacobs
Peter Quillin (should have been in 2009)

    Too early, but 2011:
    James Degale
    Bastie Samir

plus throw in the guys that are possibly moving up...

    Sergio Martinez
    Paul Williams
Daniel Santos (there are rumors he's going up to 160)
    Sergio Mora

and also the two top guys, Felix Sturm and Kelly Pavlik

Santos looked horrible against Foreman but I know he wasnt in good shape. He could do ok if manages to get himself in decent shape. I dont see Williams making too much noise at middle. His style is suited better for the lower weights where he can afford to get hit more and not hurt.

Then theres the talent at 68 that is looking decent in the tournament. Dirrell needs a little more experience but he could be good. Abraham, Ward, solid guys.

exactly, he basically did a Jenny Craig training camp, he gained 17 lbs. over night for god-sake completely ridiculous

if he manages to get himself in good shape i think he could be a live dog at 160

James De Gale will probably end up at 168 and I think 2011 is even too soon for him if he does campaign at Middleweight, i think we have better prospects in the UK who are around the same weight.

I dont rate Jacobs either I think he will be found out soon enough.

Ward is a Super Middleweight and Angulo is a Jr. Middleweight with no plans of moving up

The thread starter may be onto something here. I enjoyed that Martinez fight and have seen few of the up and comers he metioned in action. I'll have to pay attention to this in the coming year. Nice thought provoking thread
