Another rewatch down. He is so so heavy on his feet, his defence is really only from the waist up...feet in front of everything and standing straight with head high and easily knocked out of position. He needs to retool his basics and fundamentals or I honestly don't see him having an extended career at all.

I didn't see Maidana on the verge or gassed at all in 12th, both were hit clean and Broner ate a left that stiffened him. He was also warned harshly (again) there, and got a clear pass for hitting Maidana after the bell in 11th.

It could have been worse. His trainer could have got tired of being talked to like a dog and wrapped the towel around Broner's neck and choked him before the last round.
Broner is too square up to use his shoulder effectively- his left hip and shoulder are too open- or to get turned on a right hand. I noticed in the last round that he was punching with loose wrists, maybe because he was tired, or maybe it is something he does a lot and I just didn't think to look for it.

You noticed he was being disrespectful to his trainer?

Spot on. The kid and he is one is a mental gimp and he bought into his own bullshit and was more worried about being in the spot light then actually applying his craft. He got a lesson.
    That's it.

He's demanding an immediate rematch already which is a good sign.
Yes, although I'm not sure I would give him one if I were Maidana. Maidana has a lot of options now.
If I'm marcos I tell broner to fuck off, or give him a 90-10% split if he wants a rematch so bad, I mean its ridicilous how disrespectful broner was prefight and even during the fight.

He does get a little slappy. I think alot of it is because he is out of position too. Either inside with flat feet or leaves them there..wide..while his torso tries to lean back, twist and defend. The shoulder thing is just lipstick on the pig really. Almost like his body is working against itself, not unified.

Yeah man just rewatched it as well in way better quality. Maidana wasn't in nearly as bad shape towards the end as I thought watching live, must've just been my nerves running high. He actually won the 11th for me and was only really buzzed once in the 12th. The headbutt in the 8th was nothing also, it looked way worse to me the first time. Maidana simply lodged his head under Broners to try and free his arms up since Broner was holding on for dear life. The delayed reaction going down from Broner was a crock of shit and he wanted out of the fight at that moment. I don't know that there is a whole lot for Broner to retool, he is so set in trying to use that shell and he really won't get away with it because his feet are cinder blocks as you say.

Yea to all his corner, I noticed a few times. He'd be telling the to chill out, get the fuck out of the ring etc, just didn't want to hear anything. I don't know who trains him though and there was a total lack of urgency in there when he was way behind, so maybe they don't deserve much respect.

Well in the only instance I remember in his corner, Broner was goin "I know I gotta dog him" and his trainer was telling him "You gotta knock him out"

Surprising that the geniuses wearing Clinton and Nixon masks during the walk in weren't of more help during the fight

He's got a lot to work on but the upside is there, and he can beat some good fighters and be an interesting addition to whatever division he's going to compete in.
I thought Maidana was out of gas a few times, but he hung in there.
Dare I say if the fight had gone 15, Broner's corner would not have urged him to go for the KO, at all costs, until the 14th and Maidana would have hung in there with his winning ways.
I like ifs, ands or buts too, but not when Broner is getting his comeuppance.

Everything seemed to go wrong for him but on the plus side it was a very entertaining fight and everyone loved it. That tells me Broner will be in exciting fights going forward because he didn't run even after being dropped twice. He was still coming forward in round 12 vs a puncher two weights above him.

The fastback to welter obviously backfired but I'd rather watch that type of fight than a brash guy who talks the talk but runs in the ring. Floyd gets bood in almost every fight but it's kept his zero in tact.

Congrats to Maidana. Long time coming and it was well deserved. Clear winner IMO

It seemed to me that it was clear Broner was looking for a way out in the 8th round because the effect of the headbutt looked minimal, and his clinching was the reason for the headbutt in the first place (of course, the referee should have taken a point way for it regardless).

Got hold of an HD copy and Broner got the dog shit beaten out of him. In the latter half of the eleventh and twelfth rounds he looked absolutely gone.

There's no way there'll be an immediate rematch. Broner talked GBP into bumping him from 135 to 147 and all it got was his bubble burst. GBP will try a salvage operation and probably move him down to 140 or even 135 if he could make it.

Broner will outwit them by clubbing, eating and drinking his way out of whatever promise his career still has.

Agreed there was a bit of Andre dirrell in him but he got through that and finished strong. Having said that I think the cheap shot at the end of the 11th probably took abit out of maidana who wasn't that strong in the 12th
