    Default XBOX 360 questions

hey guys.. i saw an ad on craigslist that had an XBOX 360, with a hard drive(asked the kid for the size of it, not sure yet), the HD cables, two controllers, headset, plug and play stuff, and four games.. Left 4 Dead (which i've played and think is a great game), Fifa 09, Gears of War 2, Call of Duty 4.

The price is $300.. i may offer him a bit less..

but what would the value of this package be? I have NO idea of prices as far as XBOX 360's go, but i do know the games are originally $60 and i could probably sell the ones that i do not want for $40 used.

I basically want it just to play L4D online and to get Fable 2.. Then i will probably sell the whole package and get PS3 for the new fight night and for the blu-ray player.

thanks, and rep for responses if possible.

heres an ad from an Irish board

    Xbox 360 60gb brand new with warranty - adverts.ie

think the consols new are less then 200 now, shop around on buyandsell boards from your area, you'll also always get it less than the price its marked so put in a low offer and work from there

The console alone without any accessories is worth about a $100. A 20 GB harddrive you can get for a lot less than $50 bucks on ebay. Controllers, assuming their wireless go for around 30-40 bucks, and the other accessories are inexpensive. If you're not interested in the other games, why not just get a working console off of ebay for less than what you can negotiate from the craigslist sale.

I would go to Gamestop's website and price all those out used. You're always at risk dealing with a Craig's List or an eBay considering the person selling to you isn't face-to-face with you. You might be able to get a better deal with Gamestop, but even if you don't, you get the option of a warranty in case the thing poops the bed as soon as you plug it in, it's been inspected by a professional before being sold and it's a pretty safe bet you won't be buying a rock-filled box.

i will be face to face with him considering i will be picking it up.. probably from his house, and i will make him show me it works.. i wouldn't purchase something without doing that..

I would buy a new one, because odds are it's gonna red ring on you. When you buy it new there is no charge to have it repaired they mail you the packaging to mail it in and everything. Plus if you aren't interested in most of the games it's definately not worth hoping that you can sell them.

new would be too expensive.. my reason for wanting this one is cause it's pretty cheap..

i found the same system on ebay, new for $264 buy it now, and $15 for shipping.. comes with one wireless controller..

the one on craigslist has two wireless controllers, plus 4 games, plus the high def hookups.. i also don't think i'll have a problem selling the games even if i sell them at 30-40 a piece.. i awnt call of duty, L4D, gears of war 2, but don't want fifa..

anyway.. if i get the original packaging from the dude, will i be able to send it back for repair for no cost if their is an issue?

i already thought of the red ring issue.. this was his response..

The xbox is in good condition cosmetically and working condition. It did have the red ring once, but since I recieved it back I've kept it in a well ventilated spot. And I have no problem showing you it works before hand, I'd want the same thing. I live in Coventry, and I have it all set up. So whenever would be good for you.

No there is special packaging and labels that you have to have shipped to you. I'm sure there is a way around it though.

I love the Xbox360 over the playstation 3, for the same reason I liked the PS2 over the Xbox, game selection. Whichever way you go, get one.

Something like 3/4 or more of 360s made within the first year red ring... they know this is there fault an unacceptable to they've offered extended waranties to everybody who bought one before a certain date... no bother you just send it off for free and they'll give you a new one.

You buy second hand you won't get that and there is a high chance that it'll red ring on you and be completely fucked.

They used the wrong type of solder on the circuits during the first year of production and they go brittle from the heat. Also the newer 360s have a proper HDMI output... not just component cables so they look very slightly better if you have the right TV.

If you can't get a new one make sure you get proof of how old the console is

Did he say that it had red ringed before and he'd sent it away? If so it's more than likely got a new motherboard with the right type of solder... it should have a years warrenty from the date it was repaired too.

As long as he can send you that stuff you're OK.

he said it red ringed and that it was repaired..

i'm going to see if he'll go down to $250.. if not i can buy it on ebay with a similar package for the same price.

thanks to all for your input..

    much appreciated!
