last i heard porter was in the philippines training with pac. They said porter got some good hits on pac but pac is still 40% which Arum wasn't too happy about.

This vid doesn't show much just them two seperately training.

Sounds like Omar chose college over experiencing training with the best. He didnt want to miss class

Yea hopefully Omar can sneak in wins over weak champs and pass it type Freitas. After he unifies, hopefully he doesn't step up to full time Class A champs like Campbell or Elite p4pders like JMM.

I think if he becomes a full time fighter he can be so much better, if his going to be a part time boxer he'll have a shot at being a one hit wonder.

yet you ignore his wins over top guys like Katsidis and Malignaggi (bad scoring, not robbery) and the hell of a fight he gave the elite Marquez

Eh, good for him. He's still very young in his professional career and if he's as good as they say he is he'll have many more opportunities down the road.

I applaud his commitment to his studies.

Also Shawn Porter has really quick hands and he is a good boxer, I mean he beat Jacobs to go on the Olympic team.
Shawn Porter never made the Olympic team. He did beat Jacobs before in the amateurs though. I think Jacobs beat Porter twice though. Porter is the ideal choice for preparing for Cotto. I think Porter has more to offer than Cotto and Omar Henry is a lesser version of Cotto. So Pac does have the best preparation right now for Cotto. And it is common for a guy like Pac to be having hard times in sparring because that is the purpose. You want to pick a guy better and/or bigger so you push the contracted guy to the next level. Porter is a bigger, faster, stronger, and more aggressive version of Cotto. Roach didn't expect Pac to handle Porter, Roach knows Porter's very talented, he expected hard times and that is why he picked a guy such as Porter. Having a hard time against Porter doesn't mean a Cotto victory by no means. Porter only has lesser pro experience than Cotto. Porter as a fighter/sparring partner is not lesser than Cotto. Being able to deal with Porter before the fight is the ideal and is what will mean the most.
Shawn Porter was on the US 2008 team. Also Omar Henry could easily become as good as Cotto if not better depending on his chin. He has all the ability in the world, only time will tell.

As for Mayweather having difficulties in sparring, they were widely speculated, but Anthony Peterson allegedly got the better of Floyd when they sparred, also there were other rumours that Floyd wasn't looking very good in sparring, Freddie Roach among others brought this up.
Porter never made the Olympic team. Bios | Content | USA Boxing Maybe Omar Henry will be something in the future, thats not easy to predict, but as of right now Omar Henry is a lesser version of Cotto.

Daniel Jacobs was beat out by Shawn Estrada, I know that if I'm not mistaken he beat him twice I think I know it was at least once. I'm not sure who beat Porter but I definitely know that Estrada beat Jacobs in the Qualifiers.

I can't remember who beat Porter out but I think it was Jacobs who did.

exactly, kat is a decent fighter malignaggi is a decent boxer. jmm is a elite, juan did give him a hell of a fight but by the last few rounds of their fight. JMM had seperated himself level wise from Juan and it was clear, Juan Diaz was not elite level. If probubly Diaz had spent more time in the gym then in a class room he would of gone to the championship rounds with JMM and not fall short by getting ktfo. Funny part about that is JMM actually fought Diazs fight not his and still seperated himself as the much greater fighter.

alot of that having to do with Diaz forcing him on Marquez, and it's not like he slacked off, name another fighter who has 37 pro bouts against solid opposition at only 26 years of age, the fact that he became a unified champion while being a FULL TIME student makes it that much more impressive

...And all this time I feel like I am the only one trying to give the Baby Bull his credit.
The guy is NOT a bad fighter at all and he is still young. I think he beat plenty of good fighters, and later down the road you'll see him beat even greater fighters. As opposed to fighting cream puffs (JCC Jr) or tons of journeymen with an extended Amateur career (Gamboa) he took the mans route. He fought and fought and fought got up the ranks and locked horns with guys that are trying to make a legacy as well.
Too bad he had a tough time against Malanaggi, too bad about coming up short with JMM, but he'll be back! And I, for one, will be watching.
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."

    - and I quote from some random guy on the internet
